ELias stood tall, looking down with cold, unyielding eyes at the broken, shattered visage of Nihil.
Nihil had been overpowered and defeated.
Without a second glance, Elias spun on his heel and blurred in a streak of gold light, sprinting directly toward the massive mountain castle looming in the distance.
Inside the castle corridors of the castle, Elena and Kiki stood amidst a graveyard of defeated alien soilders.
"That should be the last of the guard on patrols on this floor," Elena muttered, wiping a smudge of grease from her cheek as she lowered her arm.
"Good let's keep moving," Kiki replied, breathing heavily, She gestured toward a heavy, reinforced vault door at the end of the hall. "Let's go in "
Elena stepped forward, her fingers flying across the glowing control panel attached to the wall. With a sharp hiss of pneumatic pressure, the heavy lock cylinders retracted, and the thick vault doors swung outward.
Inside the dimly lit, freezing cell, three figures huddled together on a stone bench. It was Nyx, Lyra, and Mira Ice.
"Elena! Kiki!" Lyra cried out, her eyes widening as she immediately stood up, stepping forward into the light of the corridor. "You actually found us!"
"Are you three alright?" Kiki asked, rushing into the room to help them up. "Did those bastards do anything to you?"
"We're fine, just completely drained," Nyx explained, her voice tight as she rubbed her wrists, which still bore the faint red marks of the hand cuffs. "They took our gear and something was stopping us from using our evoliths. If you guys hadn't cracked that lock, we'd still be sitting ducks."
Mira Ice nodded silently, shivering slightly against the cold air of the obsidian cell.
"Glad to see guys are alright," Elena said, waving them out of the cell. "Ok let's check around if anyone is still in the castle".
As the five of them navigated the winding, descending staircases of the castle, Elena's head began to ache her.
She stopped in front of a massive, heavily reinforced chamber door that pulsed with a deep, rhythmic hum.
"Wait," Elena called out, holding up a hand. "The interference —it's originating from inside this room."
Kiki kicked the door open, revealing a towering, glowing sphere of raw, highly compressed violet energy suspended in the center of the chamber. Thick, conduit pipes snaked out from the floor, drawing power directly from the sphere to feed the castle's life support, defense fields, and it's the power source of the castle.
"An energy ball," Elena realized, . "No wonder you guys couldn't use your evoliths".
"Looks like you guys are alright."
The deep, calm voice echoed from the entrance of the chamber. Everyone whirled around to see Elias walking into the room. the air around him radiated a heavy, comforting warmth that immediately pushed back the freezing cold of the castle.
"Elias!" Lyra yelled, her heart skipping a beat as she took in his new, commanding appearance.
The moment Elias's glowing gold eyes swept over the group, his gaze paused, a look of genuine confusion crossing his face. Because their space suits had been completely stripped away by the Malkor guards after they've been captured.
"What happened to your clothes?" Elias asked blankly, tilting his head.
In an instant, the temperature in the room felt like it spiked by a hundred degrees.
Lyra's face turned a violent shade of crimson. She immediately crossed her arms over her chest, stumbling backward a step. "They—they took them when they locked us up! Don't just stare at us like that, you idiot!" she squeaked, looking down at the floor as her ears burned hot.
Nyx's completely evaporated. Her cheeks flushed a bright, unmistakable pink, and she nervously cleared her throat, trying to pull a loose strand of hair over her face to hide her embarrassment. "It... it was a security protocol," she muttered softly, her voice losing all of its usual sharp authority as she refused to meet his eyes. "They didn't want us hiding anything."
Mira Ice,felt a sudden rush of heat hit her face. A deep blush spread across her cheeks as she looked up at her hands instinctively tugging at the edge of her undershirt. "It's... cold in here," she whispered quickly, trying to blame the temperature for her shaking voice, though her eyes remained entirely glued to his face.
Elena rolled her eyes, letting out a loud chuckle at the sight. "Alright, break it up, you three. We'll find some clothes on the way out. Elias, what happened to the guy that attacked you?"
"Defeated," Elias replied simply. "We're clear to move."
As the group exited the primary castle gates and made their way down the rocky slopes of the mountain, a heavy mechanical roar echoed from the cloud line above. A sleek, silver xenocides spaceship descended smoothly through the fog, its landing thrusters scorching the stone as it touched down on a flat ledge right in front of them.
The primary loading ramp hissed open. Standing at the top of the ramp, waving them forward, were Kross, Kahn, and Kealen.
"Get in! Move it!" Kross shouted down to them, his face covered in grease from hotwiring the ship's navigation deck. "We managed to get this thing running, but We need to leave right now!"
Meanwhile,
The air was dense with green acidic mist and razor-sharp silver filaments. Tessa Sol continued fighting Malkor soilders, using her thread to control them and also deal some damage. Beside her, Sloane was swinging her massive iron hammer like a berserker, crushing the helmets of two charging soldiers before slamming the weapon down to create a shockwave that shattered the frontline.
"Renji! Ness!" Sloane screamed, her face drenched in sweat. "Finish her!"
In the center of the walkway, Lady Ness was locked in a brutal war with the Elite. Hundreds of
flesh-eating bio-parasites swarmed out from her sleeves, clashing directly with Blossom's writhing, venomous thorn vines. The bugs chewed through the wood, but Blossom's flora was regenerating too fast.
"You think your little bugs can eat an entire forest?" Blossom mocked, her fingers dancing as she unleashed her core technique: Thorn root.
Three massive, hyper-compressed wooden roots tipped with diamond-hard thorns shot out from the the ground.
Lady Ness reacted quickly, sending a wave of defensive parasites to rot the incoming plants.
The primary thorn root tore straight through the cloud of insects and pierced deep into Lady Ness's side, shattering her rib cage and pinning her violently against the ground.
"Ness!" Tessa sol screamed.
Lady Ness gasped, blood coughing from her lips. She gripped the thick thorn lodged in her side, her face turning pale."damn it looks like I screwed up".
Blossom let out a high-pitched, mocking laugh, stepping forward as she adjusted her posture. "One down. Now, the cute boy, let's see how well you can dance."
Renji didn't say a word,His star eyes locking onto Blossom with absolute, lethal precision..
Blossom threw her arms forward, summoning a massive wall of carnivorous briars that surged down the narrow walkway like a tidal wave. "Die!"
In Renji's mind, the future played out in flawless, crystal-clear detail, He saw himself jumping left, only for a hidden root to impale his ankle. He saw himself swinging down, only for a burst of explosive pollen to blind him. Then, he saw the perfect path.
Renji moved. To Blossom, it looked like he had vanished.
He didn't jump left. He sprinted straight forward, diving flat on his chest to slide beneath the first wave of swinging briars. A jagged thorn blade snapped down exactly where his head had been a millisecond prior, but he was already gone. He flipped himself back onto his boots, his blade drawn as he executed a tight, circular spin that sheared clean through the primary anchor roots supplying Blossom with her defensive armor.
"What?!" Blossom gasped, her future predictions completely failing against someone who already knew every move she would make.
She desperately scrambled backward, throwing a barrage of explosive seed pods directly at his face. Renji didn't even look at them. He simply tilted his head two inches to the right, letting the pods stream past his ears to detonate harmlessly against the back wall. Every single counter-attack she tried had already been seen, analyzed, and bypassed before she even executed it.
Renji closed the distance in a flash of silver light. He appeared directly in front of her, his blade held in a tight reverse grip.
"Too slow," Renji whispered.
Before Blossom could scream, Renji drove the point of his blade straight into the red node on her left collarbone.
CRACK!
The moment the blade pierced the weak point.
All the roots throughout the hangar bay instantly withered, turning into gray, lifeless ash that crumbled to the floor. Blossom's eyes went wide, the vibrant color draining from her hair as she fell to her knees, coughing up blood.
Renji ripped his blade out, sheathing it with a cold, metallic snap as Blossom collapsed forward onto the ground, completely defeated.
