Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The One Beyond the System

Time had stopped.

Not slowed.

Not distorted.

Stopped.

The flames froze mid-motion. The wind halted as if bound by invisible chains. Even the overwhelming pressure from the four figures in the sky had been silenced.

Only two beings remained untouched.

Lucien Kael von Kurothar—

And the one standing before him.

"…The one who gave you the system."

Those words echoed—not through the air, but directly into Lucien's mind.

For the first time since his reincarnation—

His thoughts paused.

Not out of fear.

But because something deeper was being challenged.

Lucien's gaze hardened.

"…You expect me to believe that?"

The figure tilted its head slightly.

Its form was unclear. Not hidden—but undefined. As if reality itself refused to fully acknowledge its existence.

"…Belief is irrelevant."

A pause.

Then—

"…You are proof."

The system reacted violently.

[Critical Conflict Detected]

[Source: Unknown Authority]

[Protection Protocol Engaged]

Lucien's eyes narrowed.

"…You're interfering with my system."

The figure responded calmly.

"…Incorrect."

A slight step forward.

"…I am the system."

Silence.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

Lucien didn't move.

But the air around him sharpened.

"…Then why can't you control me?"

A pause.

For the first time—

The figure stopped.

"…Because you were never meant to exist like this."

That answer changed everything.

Fragments of thought surged through Lucien's mind.

His reincarnation.

His infinite potential.

His resistance to interference.

His rapid synchronization.

"…A mistake."

Lucien said it quietly.

The figure did not deny it.

"…Yes."

The word carried no emotion.

No regret.

Only truth.

Lucien exhaled slowly.

"…Then fix it."

For a brief moment—

The world seemed to tremble.

"…That is why I am here."

The space around them shifted.

Darkness formed beneath their feet—not absence of light, but something deeper. A void where even mana ceased to exist.

Lucien felt it immediately.

No energy.

No flow.

No system response.

For the first time—

He was cut off.

[System Response: Suppressed]

Lucien's eyes sharpened.

"…So this is your domain."

The figure nodded slightly.

"…A space where you do not exist."

Lucien stepped forward anyway.

"…Then I'll exist anyway."

Silence.

Then—

The figure moved.

Not fast.

Not slow.

Simply—

Inevitable.

Their hands met.

And for the first time—

Lucien felt resistance he couldn't immediately overcome.

The impact didn't create a shockwave.

It erased it.

The very concept of force collapsed between them.

Lucien was pushed back.

Not far—

But enough.

His eyes narrowed.

"…So this is your level."

The figure observed him.

"…And yet you are still standing."

A pause.

Then—

"…You are adapting."

Lucien's mind moved rapidly.

Analyzing.

Breaking down the phenomenon.

Rebuilding understanding.

Even without mana—

Even without system support—

He was learning.

"…You're wrong."

Lucien steadied himself.

"…I don't need the system."

The figure remained silent.

Lucien stepped forward again.

This time—

Not relying on magic.

Not relying on abilities.

But pure existence.

Their clash resumed.

Each movement distorted the void.

Each exchange broke and reformed the space around them.

And slowly—

Something impossible began to happen.

The void—

Cracked.

A faint ripple of energy returned.

The figure stopped.

"…Impossible."

Lucien stood there.

Breathing steady.

Eyes unwavering.

"…You said this is a space where I don't exist."

A pause.

Then—

"…So I changed that."

The system flickered.

Even within suppression—

It responded.

[Synchronization Progress: 72%]

[External Domain Resistance Achieved]

The figure took a step back.

For the first time—

Not out of control.

But acknowledgment.

"…You are no longer within expected limits."

Lucien's voice was calm.

"…I never was."

Silence.

Then—

The figure raised its hand.

The void began collapsing.

"…You cannot be allowed to continue like this."

Lucien prepared to move—

To push further—

To break through completely—

But before he could—

The world returned.

Time resumed.

The flames roared again.

The wind exploded outward.

The four figures in the sky moved—

Mid-attack.

Lucien's body reacted instantly—

Blocking—

Redirecting—

Countering—

As if no interruption had ever occurred.

But his eyes—

Changed.

Now—

He understood.

The four attackers weren't the real threat.

They were tools.

The real enemy—

Had just tried to erase him.

Lucien's gaze lifted toward the sky.

Calm.

Cold.

Certain.

"…I'll reach you."

Above—

The silent figure among the four hesitated for a fraction of a second.

As if something—

Had gone wrong.

The system surged one more time.

[New State Achieved: Partial System Independence]

[Authority Expansion Initiated]

Lucien stepped forward into the battlefield.

This time—

Not as a target.

But as something else entirely.
