Chapter 33: Plan Successful
After gaining the right to prepare dinner, Lan Xingyu planned to go back and rest first, then go buy ingredients to cook at Gwen's house.
At first, he was stopped by George Stacy.
He said that since he rarely had a day off, he wanted to contribute to dinner, but he was refused by Lan Xingyu, who argued that he should spend more time with Mrs. Stacy and that he needed to personally select the ingredients.
Helpless, George Stacy planned to give his wallet to his daughter and have Gwen accompany Lan Xingyu, otherwise, it wouldn't feel right for their whole family to sit still while a child went out to buy groceries and then cooked dinner for them.
Lan Xingyu didn't refuse this time. After all, he was already responsible for the cooking; shouldn't they be responsible for the cost of the ingredients? I, Lan Xingyu, am not one to suffer a loss. (Proud face JPG)
After resting for a while at Gwen's house, Lan Xingyu and Gwen set off.
"Honey? What do you think of Xingyu?" After Lan Xingyu left, Mrs. Stacy asked her husband.
"Very good. He's polite, well-mannered, and caring. He's a good kid," George said.
"Then why aren't you following them secretly? Aren't you afraid the kids might get lost!"...
Let's turn the camera to Lan Xingyu, who is currently on the way to the grocery store with little Gwen.
Lan Xingyu had already sensed that George Stacy was following them; after all, no one would let two six or seven-year-old children go out alone.
Yes! That's right, Gwen is a year older than Lan Xingyu. So, Lan Xingyu is the little brother...
"Lan Xingyu, can you really cook? It won't be some kind of dark cuisine, will it?" Gwen's woman's intuition told her that there was definitely something wrong with Lan Xingyu doing this.
But where was the problem? She didn't know. Sometimes you have to marvel at how accurate a woman's intuition can be.
"Don't worry, I started cooking for myself when I was three or four years old. I've also been learning from Tony's private chefs since I came to the United States, so rest assured! After you eat it, I guarantee you'll be stunned (I didn't make a typo; refer to K.O.3an Guo, this is the literal meaning)."
"Really? Why do I always feel like you're trying to scam us?" Gwen looked at Meteor Shower seriously.
"How is that possible! Look at how good your family is to me; how could I possibly scam you? Right? Hahahaha." Lan Xingyu was a little panicked. Was Gwen's intuition really that scary? Women are indeed terrifying creatures who can bleed every month and still act like nothing is wrong. Can't mess with them, definitely can't.
After Lan Xingyu and Gwen arrived at the supermarket, he relied on the knowledge of selecting ingredients he learned from the chefs to show off a bit in front of little Gwen. Our Little Loli watched in amazement, exclaiming that she had learned something.
Others who saw the two cute little ones picking out ingredients in such a professional manner were also completely charmed.
On the way back, Gwen looked at the ingredients Lan Xingyu was carrying on his shoulder and said: "Give me some! You must be tired carrying it all by yourself."
"It's fine! When you're out, there's no reason to let a lady carry things. Besides, this is easy for me. Don't forget, I know kung fu," Lan Xingyu said confidently. Lan Xingyu wasn't lying; with his Father-Heaven Level strength, carrying some vegetables was a piece of cake.
"By the way, do you have any preferences, or things you don't like? Tell me so I can plan what dishes to make. Ah! I should have asked your parents before we came out to buy groceries." Lan Xingyu remembered that everyone had different taste preferences, and he had forgotten to ask.
"It's okay, we like whatever you bought!" A middle-aged man's voice sounded behind Lan Xingyu and Gwen.
"Let me help you carry it." The man took the two bags Lan Xingyu was carrying and said.
"Dad! Why are you here? Weren't you at home keeping Mom company?" Gwen asked curiously.
"I just came out and saw you, so I came over to help. Wow, you bought quite a lot!" George Stacy certainly wouldn't tell them he had been following them from the start! And he affirmed their independent thinking and decision-making.
Lan Xingyu didn't expose George, and soon they returned to Gwen's house. Next was Lan Xingyu's performance.
A kitchen knife flew in Lan Xingyu's hands. George Stacy, who was helping wash vegetables on the side, and Mrs. Stacy, who was watching anxiously, exclaimed in wonder! Watching Lan Xingyu cook was now a kind of enjoyment—fancy, cool knife skills, skillful control of the heat, and a series of movements that were smooth and fluid, completed in one go.
The way he handled some of the ingredients was also a delight to watch. The Stacy couple found that they could actually get mesmerized watching someone else cook. It was simply incredible!
But Lan Xingyu's goal wasn't just to let them watch his performance. He pretended to take out several special Asgardian palace seasonings from his bag; this was Lan Xingyu's secret weapon. Even Tony couldn't tell the difference between dishes made with these seasonings and those made by his private chefs.
Seeing Lan Xingyu add some seasonings while cooking, the wafting aroma made the Stacy couple's mouths water. To ensure Mrs. Stacy, who was pregnant, had sufficient nutrition, Lan Xingyu also stewed a chicken, the aroma of which even lured the Little Loli resting upstairs down.
Finally, the magnificent cooking performance came to a complete end at five o'clock. Looking at the dishes being placed on the table one by one, the Stacys were incredibly expectant; if they weren't waiting for Lan Xingyu, the chef, to join them at the table, they would have already started eating.
Finally, when Lan Xingyu brought the perfectly stewed chicken to the table, they couldn't hold back any longer. Knives and forks danced on the table; the delicious dishes, paired with rice cooked to the perfect texture, were simply a heavenly experience.
For this meal, the stacy family ate two to three times their usual amount, and by the end, they were all slumped in their chairs, not wanting to move. Mr. George suggested that he would put the plates and other things in the dishwasher first, and then they could all take a walk to Broadway to digest.
This decision was agreed upon by everyone, so they all went back to their rooms to get ready. Well, saying 'everyone' might be an exaggeration; it was mostly Gwen Stacy and her mother who were preparing to go out, while George Stacy just changed his clothes and came out to wait for them with Lan Xingyu.
"Lan Xingyu, how did you learn to cook so early? Did no one take care of you before you came to the United States?" Mr. George asked.
"No, it's just that I didn't want to be taken care of all the time, because my master and everyone else were very busy. So, I started taking care of myself when I was three or four years old. But my Master Brother and Senior Sister were very good to me, so it's okay," Lan Xingyu said.
"What about your parents? Were they busy too?" Mr. George asked again.
"I haven't met my parents. My mother passed away after giving birth to me. As for my father, he probably doesn't even know I exist. But my master told me that my mother didn't hate my father; perhaps he had his own unavoidable circumstances..."
"I'm sorry, Xingyu, I..."
"It's okay, Uncle George. My master told me that my mother was a very great person. Even while pregnant, she insisted on participating in the fight against evil. She loved me. If she hadn't wanted me, she could have completely survived. But she still used all her life force to bring me into this world."
"Your mother was a great mother!" George Stacy exclaimed.
Just as George Stacy was still lamenting, Gwen Stacy and her mother were ready and came out.
It must be said that Gwen perfectly inherited her mother's excellent genes, and in her thick clothes, she looked very cute. Mrs. Stacy herself was already a beauty with an 85+ rating, and now with light makeup, she even left Uncle George on the side stunned.
Just like that! Everyone was ready, and they set off together for the Broadway musical.
Along the way, everyone chatted and laughed until they arrived at the Broadway musical. Lan Xingyu was originally quite looking forward to it, but for some reason—maybe it wasn't his thing, or maybe it was because he hadn't rested in the afternoon—Lan Xingyu fell asleep shortly after it started. The stacy family saw Lan Xingyu sleeping and didn't disturb him.
When Lan Xingyu woke up, it was already over. Sometimes Lan Xingyu was really curious why sleeping in class and sleeping in a theater were always so comfortable.
After going out with the Stacys, Lan Xingyu said goodbye to them, saying he had already notified his driver to come pick him up soon. After the stacy family also said goodbye to Lan Xingyu, Mrs. Stacy repeatedly emphasized that Lan Xingyu must come to their house to play when he had time. The Gwen family was already reminiscing about Lan Xingyu's delicious food. Seeing that the plan was very successful, Lan Xingyu promised happily, but internally he thought: Just kidding! You want me to come over in less than two or three months? Impossible! Do you think I, Avenger Lan, am so easily dismissed? Hmph! (Continuing proud/tsundere face JPG)
