Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: New Element

Chapter 45: New Element

Lan Xingyu checked the time; it had just passed 12:00. This meant that today was Tony's birthday.

"Stop daydreaming, Tony. Let's go see the birthday gift your father left for you!" Lan Xingyu said.

Hearing this, Tony finally snapped back to reality. That's right, today is my birthday! He then looked at his father's chest. A birthday gift, huh...

"Alright, let's go, Xingyu. Let's go to the lab together and see what that old man left for me as a birthday gift." Tony said, seemingly trying to cheer himself up.

"Pepper Potts, you should get some rest early!" After saying this to Pepper Potts, Tony walked downstairs with Lan Xingyu.

Arriving at the workbench, Tony opened the chest. The first thing he saw was the design blueprint for a miniature reactor. Below the blue blueprint were two names: Anton Vanko and Howard Stark.

Tony opened it, took a glance, and set it aside. Lan Xingyu, however, was curious about what it was. He picked it up and took a look...

He couldn't understand it, not at all. As expected, the world of geniuses is not something us academic underachievers can look up to.

Lan Xingyu returned to his spot and saw several reels of film. Uh... it looks like he'd need to find an old-fashioned projector.

"Tony, do we have a projector that plays this kind of tape at home?" Lan Xingyu asked curiously. In his past life, while watching the movie, he had been curious. In Tony's home, which was filled with high-tech gadgets, how could he suddenly find such an old-fashioned projector?

"Hmm, we do have one. But it's buried in a pile of old junk." Tony said, and with that, he stood up and ran upstairs.

Lan Xingyu naturally followed him. He had been at Tony's house for so long and truly didn't know there was a place specifically for storing old things.

One must know that in Iron Man 1, Tony had said: "People say I have many traits, but 'nostalgic' isn't one of them." So logically, Tony shouldn't have kept anything.

Arriving at a side room, he opened the door. The inside didn't have the dust Lan Xingyu expected; on the contrary, it was quite clean.

"What's with that look? Did you think it would be like an attic on TV? Come on, what do you think I hire those cleaners for?" Tony guessed Lan Xingyu's thoughts upon seeing his strange expression.

Tony walked over to a pile of miscellaneous items and dug out an old-fashioned projector. Lan Xingyu saw that the side of the projector had the words "Howard Stark" written on it.

It seems Tony didn't hate his father as much as he portrayed.

"Found it! Let's go, back we go." Saying this, Tony started walking toward the lab.

"Wait, aren't you tired of carrying that thing? Don't I have a Teleportation Gate?" Lan Xingyu stopped Tony. Then, a Teleportation Gate appeared before them.

"I have to admit, this Teleportation Gate of yours is really convenient." Tony remarked.

Back in the lab, Tony set up the projector. He took out a reel and started playing the "birthday gift" his father left for him.

This seemed to be footage recorded by Howard Stark for some program, but these were clearly not the finished products. Tony watched his father's notes while listening to the video.

After a while, just as Howard was holding forth in the video, a small figure crawled out from behind the table and naughtily took away an architectural model. As a result, he was spotted by Howard.

"Hahahaha, Tony, you were so cute when you were little, hahahaha, so adorably silly." Lan Xingyu teased Tony about this embarrassing moment from his childhood.

"I suddenly feel like watching this video with you was a mistake. I think you should go to sleep. Kids shouldn't stay up too late." Tony retorted.

"OK, OK, I won't say anything. Let's continue, let's continue." Lan Xingyu said, still struggling to hold back his laughter.

Seeing that the notes were finished, Tony looked up and watched his father's various bloopers along with Lan Xingyu.

"Hmm, I have to say, when it comes to improvisation and speeches, you're much better than your father." Lan Xingyu said to Tony after seeing Howard Stark's constant mistakes.

Just as Lan Xingyu finished speaking, the camera in the video shifted. Howard spoke to the screen somewhat solemnly: "Tony, you're too young right now to understand these things. That's why I recorded this video for you. These were all built for you."

Tony began to listen intently when he heard his father solemnly call his name.

"One day you will discover that what these represent isn't just inventions; it's my life's work. This is the key to the future. I was limited by the technology of this era, but one day you will be able to solve it. When you do, you will change the world." Howard paused for a moment.

"From now until the future, my greatest creation in this life is you!" Then the video ended.

"It seems your father really loved you, Tony." Lan Xingyu said with a hint of envy.

"Yeah." Tony sighed. Then he looked at Lan Xingyu, who was holding a glass of milk. He seemed to see his own younger self. But he was luckier; at least he had his mother's company, and now he knew his father's feelings for him. What about Xingyu?

"Hey! Xingyu, do you want to go to sleep?" Tony wanted to change the subject.

"Not really, why?" Lan Xingyu asked curiously.

"Let's go to the company. My father's 'City of the Future' is in my office. Let's go get it back and see if we can find anything." Tony said.

"Hmm, sure." Saying this, Lan Xingyu raised his hand and opened a Teleportation Gate.

The two of them arrived at Tony's office and, sure enough, saw the model of the City of the Future in the corner.

"Found it, let's go." Tony said.

Tony carried one piece, and Lan Xingyu carried three as they walked through the Teleportation Gate. Yes, you read that right, Tony only took one.

Being looked at with a disdainful gaze by Xingyu behind him, Tony had no choice but to speed up.

What? You say in the movie, didn't Tony bring all four pieces out himself? Well! That's right, in the movie he did, but how do you know if Tony moved them himself or if he asked someone else to move them? Right?

Under Lan Xingyu's disdainful gaze, Tony set up the model of the City of the Future.

"Jarvis, please simulate a digital wireframe model. I want an interactive projection screen." Tony said.

A blue light scanned over the City of the Future model, and Jarvis said: "1974 Stark Expo model scan successful."

Tony raised the blue virtual model with both hands and asked: "How many buildings are there?"

"Does the Belgian waffle stand count?" Jarvis asked.

"Just asking, show it to me." Tony went to a machine that could control the projection and placed the projection on it.

With a snap of Tony's fingers, the image began to rotate. Then it stood upright.

"Xingyu, what do you think this looks like?" Tony asked, pointing to the globe-like model.

"Uh... an atom, or perhaps the position of a nucleus or something." Lan Xingyu said. He knew the plot was just that buggy.

"Hmm, that's right. If it's here, the globe highlights." Following that, Tony waved his hands, and the globe, now turned golden, was magnified.

"Remove the roads, remove them all." Tony said.

"What are you looking for, sir?" Jarvis asked.

"I'm discovering... uh... wrong. I'm re-discovering a new element." Tony fell into thought.

Lan Xingyu was somewhat expectant. In his past life, watching this operation by Tony, he thought it was very impressive. Now he could witness the birth of a new element with his own eyes.

"Remove the landscaping, the bushes, the trees, remove them all. The parking spaces, exits, entrances." As he spoke, Tony's hands kept removing the things he didn't want.

"Using the pavilion as a frame, construct the neutrons and protons." After he finished, Jarvis started constructing it, and before long, it was successfully constructed. Tony magnified this blue orb of light. A new element was born.

Lan Xingyu looked at the surrounding blue light points, feeling a bit mesmerized. Not to mention, it really looked good.

"It's been 20 years, and it's still teaching me a lesson." Tony said with a smile as he shrunk the projection and held it in his hand.

"Congratulations, Tony, you succeeded. You found a new element that can replace the reactor." Lan Xingyu said happily from the side. Because after this sentence was said, the misunderstanding and conflict between Tony and his father were completely cleared.

"The current problem is how to manufacture it." Lan Xingyu continued.

"That's simple, just break a sweat. Xingyu, go send Pepper Potts back to rest; it's going to be very noisy tonight." Tony said to Lan Xingyu.

"Hmm, alright." Lan Xingyu replied and went over.

Watching Lan Xingyu leave, Tony took Lan Xingyu's hair out of his pocket and placed it on the experimental table.

"Jarvis! Scan Lan Xingyu's hair, obtain the DNA, and then start matching. Keep the results and tell me when Xingyu leaves." Tony said to Jarvis

Before long, Lan Xingyu sent Pepper Potts back and returned to the lab.

"Xingyu, are you ready? It's time to start sweating." Then followed a session of house-demolishing activity that would make the husky Creature feel inferior.

Creature: "Damn it, do I, the Husky, have no Face? What are you guys doing! You demolished the house like this in one go. How can I Face my ancestors? I'm sorry to my ancestors. Creature has disgraced you. I can't even compete with humans in demolishing a house. A dog's life is bleak..."

You could see Tony drawing a circle on the wall, then Xingyu punching it, then drawing another circle on the floor, and Xingyu punching it again. In no time, the house was riddled with holes. Then Tony and Lan Xingyu started setting up pipes together, it looked like they were building a particle accelerator or a collider of some sort, anyway, it looked very high-end.

"This isn't level!" Tony said, annoyed.

Seeing that other places were set up, and only this part was missing, Lan Xingyu seemed to have thought of something. He took a Captain America shield model from a pile of junk.

"Tony, how about this?" Lan Xingyu called out to Tony while holding that model.

"Yes, yes, yes! That's it, give it to me." Tony took the model.

"Xingyu, help me lift it again." Tony said to Lan Xingyu.

"Tony, you really need to exercise more. Look at how weak you've become." Lan Xingyu continued to disdain Tony.

"Hurry up and work, do you want the artificial intelligence or not?" Tony, feeling increasingly awkward under his gaze, said with Life Qi.

Hearing about artificial intelligence, Lan Xingyu had no choice. He could only help Tony fix this thing first.

Lan Xingyu lifted the pipe with one hand, Tony placed the shield model inside, and then put the measuring instrument on top.

"Perfect, thanks for the hard work, Xingyu. In a while, I'll get the new strong artificial intelligence ready for you." Tony said happily.

Seeing the perfectly leveled machine, Lan Xingyu felt another complaint stuck in his throat. Tony, you really are true love with Captain America; Sister Potts is just an accident.

"Ready to witness a miracle?" Tony asked.

"Ready for a long time." Lan Xingyu was also somewhat excited.
