Chapter 56: Seeing the Old Immortal Again
Lan Xingyu was stunned to see Tony opening the door for him. He stepped back a few paces to look at the street, then back at the door. He hadn't gone to the wrong place, had he?
"Could it be that my way of knocking was wrong?" Lan Xingyu muttered.
Then, under Tony's equally bewildered gaze, he pushed him back inside and closed the door.
Lan Xingyu knocked again, and Tony opened the door once more. Lan Xingyu was finally certain; it wasn't his problem.
"Tony, why are you here?" Lan Xingyu asked as he walked into the room.
"As your guardian, I'm checking to see where you go after class. Your safety is my responsibility!" Tony said righteously.
"Speak human..." Lan Xingyu looked at Tony with a face full of suspicion.
"Ah... you don't need to know the reason. Anyway, barring any accidents, I'll be eating with you at the stacy family's place for a while," Tony said.
"Tony, are you hiding something from me? Or did you do something to wrong me? Your behavior these past few days has been very strange..." Lan Xingyu said in a peculiar tone.
Originally, Lan Xingyu didn't plan to ask, thinking Tony would tell him eventually, but the current situation was just too strange.
Tony's performance could no longer be described as just unusual; it made Lan Xingyu feel a bit uneasy.
"No! How could that be! Are you joking? I've just been a bit bored lately, you know. Now that Pepper Potts is managing the company, I have nothing to do." Tony masked it with his clumsy acting.
Seeing Tony like this, Lan Xingyu was even more certain Tony was hiding something. Was he going to give him a birthday present? Lan Xingyu couldn't figure it out, and since Tony didn't plan to say anything, he didn't press it. He planned to head to the kitchen to show off his skills; today, he intended to make a restorative feast for his wife.
However, as soon as he reached the kitchen, Lan Xingyu froze again. For no other reason than seeing Sister Potts and Mrs. Stacy making dinner together!
Wait, Tony has time because he's free, but why is even Sister Potts here? I haven't even married my wife yet, and you're already meeting the parents! Bah! How did I get myself mixed up in that? It makes it sound like I'm Tony's son.
Shaking his head, he still greeted Pepper: "Hi, Sister Potts! Why are you here too?"
"Oh! Xingyu is back. I'm here to thank the stacy family for taking care of you, of course. Since you eat dinner here every day and keep troubling them, Tony and I naturally had to come and show our gratitude." Pepper Potts was much calmer than Tony, and her reason was plausible.
Lan Xingyu thought about it; what Pepper Potts said made sense, but he still felt something was off, though he couldn't put his finger on it.
Pepper Potts didn't give Lan Xingyu much time to think and continued, "Hurry up and go see Gwen. You kids go play; we'll handle dinner today."
"Is Mrs. Stacy okay right now? Maybe she should rest," Lan Xingyu said. After all, several months had passed, and Mrs. Stacy's belly was quite large now.
"It's fine, Little Xingyu! It's no trouble. Go see Gwen first," Mrs. Stacy also said.
At this point, everyone might be curious why Tony was eating at the Stacy house. It was because Tony had told George and his wife about his current relationship with Lan Xingyu and his current feelings.
In the end, Gwen's family agreed to Tony's request. After all, spending so many months together had made them very fond of and protective of Lan Xingyu. Now that Lan Xingyu could have a real home, they wanted to help.
Tony also contributed; he would handle the ingredients and preparation for this period. After all, Mrs. Stacy wasn't suited for much physical activity right now.
Seeing that Mrs. Stacy insisted, Lan Xingyu didn't push further and went to see Gwen. Since he didn't need to do it himself, he'd go treat his wife first.
Lan Xingyu arrived outside Gwen's door, knocked, and said, "Gwen, are you there? Can I come in?"
"Yeah! Come in." Gwen's voice came from the room.
Lan Xingyu opened the door and saw Gwen sitting on the bed, boredly swinging her legs.
Lan Xingyu went to Gwen's side and asked, "How is it? Gwen, are you feeling better?" As he spoke, Lan Xingyu quietly used a set of Healing Magic on Gwen.
"Yeah, it's fine now. The doctor said the stitches can be removed tomorrow," Gwen said.
Suddenly, Gwen felt Lan Xingyu's hand placed over her eyes. Then she felt a warm, very comfortable sensation.
"Lan Xingyu, do you have something in your hand? It feels so good."
"Hehe, as long as it's comfortable." With two spells, Gwen's eyes were completely healed, but Lan Xingyu didn't help her take off the gauze.
After all, it would be hard to explain. Then, Lan Xingyu shared things about school with Gwen, including his new friend Ned. Time passed amidst the laughter of the two youngsters.
In the evening, Lan Xingyu, Tony, and the others said goodbye to the stacy family. Back at home, Lan Xingyu ran to his room under Tony's regretful gaze. He had some things to confirm today. With a wave of his hand, he summoned a Teleportation Gate and walked through.
The Old Immortal Grandpa was watching a TV show featuring a Miss. The surroundings were still filled with immortal clouds.
"The Miss's mood is quite good today too!" the Old Immortal Grandpa said while eating. Suddenly, a Teleportation Gate appeared in front of him, and Lan Xingyu's head popped out.
Seeing Lan Xingyu, the Old Immortal Grandpa said, "You're here! That's great! By the way, what's your name now?" As he spoke, he secretly turned off the TV.
That's right, Lan Xingyu had come to the Old Immortal Grandpa who gave him his cheats. When you have questions about your cheats, you naturally go to the creator for advice; isn't that standard procedure?
This was the power of the Teleportation Gate from In Another World with My Smartphone. Whether it's across planes or dimensions, as long as I've been there, I can reach it.
Cough... who told our protagonist not to have a System? So he could only go directly to the developer.
"My name is Lan Xingyu now. Long time no see, Grandpa, sorry to bother you. By the way, how did you recognize me?" Lan Xingyu said.
"Because I can see directly through to the essence of people's Souls. No matter how your physical body changes, the essence of the Soul remains the same," the Old Immortal Grandpa said calmly.
"Oh, I see. That's great though. I was really afraid I wouldn't be able to come here at first!" Lan Xingyu said with relief.
Honestly, he really was a bit nervous at first, so he just stuck his head in to check.
"Of course you can. There are many abilities and various elements here too. Come, come, it's rare for you to return. Tell me about your life over these past few years. It's quite boring for me here alone," the Old Immortal Grandpa said expectantly.
"Sure, I..." Lan Xingyu shared his experiences from the past few years with this kind Old Immortal. Lan Xingyu was also happy; there were things he couldn't say in the Marvel world for various reasons, but here, he could completely let loose.
"You've lived very well these past few years! That puts my mind at ease," the Old Immortal Grandpa said gratifiedly.
"I have to thank you for that. If it weren't for you, I might have died in that crash. I owe all these happy memories to you." Lan Xingyu truly thanked the Old Immortal Grandpa. If it weren't for him, he probably would never have experienced the feeling of having a family.
"Hahaha, don't worry about it. After all, I was at fault too. You can just call me Grandpa Immortal; don't be so formal," the Old Immortal said.
"Then I won't be polite, Grandpa Immortal."
"Exactly. By the way, is there a reason you suddenly came to find me today?" the Old Immortal smiled.
"I wanted to ask if you gave me something extra. I feel like my body has a craving for some powerful abilities. And after absorbing them, they can strengthen me further," Lan Xingyu said.
"Yes, that's right. After all, your initial conditions were too simple. So I took the liberty of adding one for you. How is it? Do you like it?"
"Thank you, I like it very much. By the way, Grandpa Immortal, can I teach the Haki I have to the people in that world? Or rather, can they learn it?"
