Shuya stared in disbelief. "How the hell did you do that?"
Even with the proof right in front of him, he still couldn't wrap his head around it.
As a Specialist who leaned heavily toward Conjuration, he'd spent plenty of time trying to develop that side of his Nen. Materializing something as simple as a white oak practice sword took almost no effort—just a little study and familiarity. For a real Conjurer, pulling real-world objects into existence was as easy as breathing.
But the real difficulty came when you tried to give that weapon a special ability.
An ordinary conjured sword and one with actual powers were two completely different beasts.
Most Conjurers who could only make normal weapons were basically background characters in Hunter x Hunter. In a fight against other Nen users, having a plain sword gave you zero edge—you were just a slightly more convenient version of someone carrying their own weapon.
The ones who could create weapons with real abilities, though? Those were monsters.
Kurapika's chain jail that nearly wiped out the Phantom Troupe.
Kite's Crazy Slots that could shift into nine different forms mid-battle.
Even the vacuum cleaner fish that sucked in anything non-living.
Every single one of them was a top-tier fighter.
And the black blade Saeko had just manifested? It was dripping with special effects. No way this was some basic sword.
Shuya had been grinding Conjuration for over a year and still hadn't figured out how to give a weapon an ability. Saeko had done it in one night.
"How?" he asked again, voice full of awe.
Saeko gave a tiny, smug little smile. "Hmm~ So there are things that can surprise Shuya-kun? I'm kinda happy about that."
"Saeko-senpai, stop teasing and just tell me already."
He was dying to know the process. Sure, their contract let him sync her progress, but syncing results didn't mean he understood how she did it. He still had no clue how he and Shizuka had accidentally created the two Snowball Beasts, either. Figuring out the method could seriously boost his own training later.
Saeko watched his eager face and suddenly felt playful. "Want me to tell you? Maybe you should beg first."
"Should I get on my knees too?" Shuya deadpanned.
"Pfft. You really can't take a joke." She clicked her tongue, then relented. "Fine, it wasn't that hard. I just pictured my usual white oak sword in perfect detail. Then I used Ren to push my aura out and Ten to shape it exactly like the image in my head."
She stopped.
Shuya waited. "…And then?"
"That's it."
"Wait, what? That's the whole process? You were supposed to make a white oak sword—how did it turn into this black blade with purple energy swirling around it?"
Saeko blinked innocently, completely lost. "But… I already told you everything."
Shuya was speechless.
This was straight-up Naruto tutorial logic.
Step one: do the thing.
Step two: do the other thing.
Boom—spiral rasengan complete.
After she walked him through every single second of last night, Shuya just sat there in silence.
Another girl who'd accidentally awakened a broken ability on pure vibes.
First Shizuka with her Snowball Beasts. Now Saeko.
This world really did spoil its anime heroines, huh?
He waved a hand. "Never mind. Just tell me what your blade actually does."
Saeko nodded. She gripped the hilt with one hand and gently traced the glowing purple runes with the other.
"I named her Reizan."
"Reizan's ability is simple: every time I kill something, I gain a power boost based on how strong the opponent was. It also feeds a portion of that energy back to me, raising my total Nen reserves."
She smiled softly. "She fits me perfectly."
Shuya opened his mouth… and closed it again.
He had to admit it—he'd sold Saeko short earlier.
Future SSR wife?
Nah. This was straight-up UR.
A weapon that grew stronger with every kill and boosted the user's Nen at the same time?
That was an infinite-growth cheat item.
His own contract ability was already broken, but Reizan took it to another level. At least he had to actually make contracts. Saeko just had to swing a sword.
If anyone else had this power, he'd be yelling, "Heavenly treasures belong to the worthy! Junior, drop that opportunity or die!"
But since it was Saeko… he was just proud.
"Any restrictions?" he asked.
She'd told him the good stuff. Now he wanted the bad.
Saeko's fingers tightened slightly on the hilt, but her voice stayed calm. "The only real limit is the word 'opponent.' I only get the boost if I personally recognize them as an enemy worth killing."
Shuya rubbed his chin. That actually made sense.
Still… "opponent," huh?
He wondered if the endless hordes of zombies about to flood the city would count once the outbreak started. If they did, the growth potential would be insane.
What Saeko didn't tell him was the real restriction—the one she didn't even see as a downside.
If Shuya ever died, Saeko would lose her mind completely.
She would become an undying vengeful spirit, growing stronger with every kill, slaughtering every single person even remotely connected to his death.
Only after the last enemy was erased would the final trace of Saeko Busujima vanish from the world—right alongside him.
Dying together.
Maybe that was the biggest, most beautiful romance a woman like Saeko Busujima could ever offer.
