Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Let’s Go Home Together

I just got… pushed down?

By the time Shuya's brain caught up, it was already over.

Because he had personally witnessed the little red flower blooming across the bedsheet.

This passive, "taken" experience was a brand-new first for him.

How should he put it?

Saeko was a swordswoman who had trained her body since she was little—those firm, flowing muscle lines and the springy, elastic bounce every time he touched her… it was an absolutely unmatched, top-tier sensation.

Yeah. Peak. Straight-up elite.

Of course Shizuka wasn't bad either—soft, plush, and the absolute best to hug while sleeping.

Each of them had their own unbeatable charm.

The only problem was…

Where the hell had Saeko dragged him to?

The infirmary!!!

Shuya swept his eyes around the room and immediately spotted the other girls. His soul nearly left his body.

Saeko definitely had her own little plan.

First reason: aside from the infirmary, she couldn't find a better spot right away. No bed was a small issue—the bigger problem was safety. If a stray zombie showed up mid-act and ruined the moment, she would literally cry.

Second reason: payback for last time.

Shizuka had interrupted her night half a month ago and then made her listen to everything through the door. This time Saeko was deliberately doing it right in front of her—look but don't touch.

Consider it her tiny revenge.

As for Rei and Saya… well, sorry about that.

But judging from Shizuka's flushed, sparkling face right now, Saeko's plan had completely backfired.

Instead of getting angry, the blonde looked even more excited than Saeko.

Saeko is so beautiful…

Was I this pretty when I was with Little Shuya?

I'm so curious!

Shizuka stared straight at them, golden eyes glittering.

Shuya felt a chill run down his spine.

Saya, meanwhile, had retreated to the corner, hands covering her eyes like a proper young lady who definitely wasn't looking.

Except… she hadn't actually turned away, and her fingers were spread wide enough to drive a truck through.

So the accurate review of her actions would be:

Did she cover her eyes? Technically.

Did she watch? Absolutely.

No guessing needed—her steaming-red face and the smoke practically rising from her head told the whole story.

Behind her hands, those crystal-yellow eyes were wide open, unblinking, taking in every single detail of what just happened between Shuya and Saeko.

Only after everything ended and curiosity faded did one single thought remain in the pink-haired genius's mind:

I'm no longer pure!

(Though every so often other questions popped up like "How is he that big?", "How did Saeko-senpai even handle it?", "Why isn't it over yet?", and "Is this also because of Nen?")

Rei's reaction was even more complicated.

Her eyes were basically cycling through every emotion you'd find in a Mary Sue novel—anger, frustration, confusion, bewilderment, determination…

Saeko-senpai said she wasn't dating Shuya-kun!

So what is this?!

And she did it right in front of me!

What does this mean?

A challenge?

Or a victory declaration?

Either way… I'm definitely not giving up!

In the end, every conflicting feeling in Rei's eyes melted into pure resolve.

Shuya took in all their reactions at once and let out a long breath.

What was done was done. No point saying anything now.

Besides… even if they did it again, what would change?

He glanced at Saeko, who had already fallen into a deep sleep on the bed.

It was hard to believe that the same woman who had slaughtered over a thousand zombies without breaking a sweat was now so exhausted she couldn't even open her eyes.

But facts were facts.

It wasn't that Saeko was weak.

It was just that I, Shuya, am ridiculously strong.

Shuya gently lifted the sleeping swordswoman and conjured a fresh set of clothes for her. Her old uniform was completely soaked in zombie blood and unusable.

He draped her arms around his neck, slid one arm under her knees and the other behind her back, and lifted her in a princess carry.

Then he turned to Shizuka. "Shizuka-nee, can you grab Saeko-senpai's old clothes and that bedsheet for me?"

"Sure~" Shizuka answered cheerfully.

Truthfully, Shuya didn't have any special feelings about keeping those things.

Saeko's heart and body were already his, plus they had the contract. Unless one of them died, it could never be broken.

So what was the point?

But that was just his personal view.

For Saeko, it was probably different.

After his first time with Shizuka, she had carefully kept everything and even ordered the Snowball Beasts to guard it like treasure. She even told them to go all-out if any thief tried to break in.

Having learned from that example, Shuya remembered.

It wasn't hard to do. And if it would keep Saeko from feeling disappointed when she woke up, why not?

Finally, Shuya looked at the three girls with their wildly different expressions and said calmly,

"Let's go home."

Rei finally snapped out of her shock at Saeko's "backstab." She opened her mouth, wanting to ask if Shuya had known about the zombies days in advance.

After all, several days ago he had urged her to convince her police-captain father to take time off. So her dad had been resting at home instead of working, and she hadn't spent the whole apocalypse worrying about her mother alone at home or her father disappearing after the outbreak.

But in the end she didn't ask.

It didn't matter. Even if Shuya had known, she didn't think he could have stopped the whole disaster.

The fact that he had warned her ahead of time and let her prepare was already more than enough.

So Rei simply nodded, ready to follow him home.

Rei: Charge initiated!

Shuya didn't know what was going through her head right now.

He hadn't only warned Rei, either.

He had told Saeko to warn her father overseas to stay safe—but he hadn't asked her to bring him back to Japan right now.

It wasn't favoritism. Shuya simply didn't know the exact timing of the outbreak.

If Saeko's dad had been on a plane flying home when it started, he would have been trapped with nowhere to go.

That would have been doing more harm than good.

As for Shizuka?

Well… she and Shuya were the same.

Both orphans!
