Shuya glanced over at Tamayo, who still stood frozen in place.
Synergizing abilities could wait until they got back to Greed Island. Right now the priority was locking in a deal with Tamayo and walking away with the two things he actually needed.
He walked straight up to her and held out his hand. "Let me introduce myself properly. I'm Shuya. Good to meet you, Miss Tamayo."
Tamayo finally snapped out of her daze. The sight of him casually dismantling an Upper Rank had hit her harder than she expected. She bowed low, voice tight with urgency. "Lord Shuya… it's an honor."
She had not seen power like this since Yoriichi four hundred years ago. For the first time in centuries, real hope flickered in her chest. Maybe this man could actually end Muzan.
Shuya didn't linger on the moment. He pulled his hand back, but Tamayo caught it and held on, eyes bright. "Lord Shuya, whatever you need, just say the word."
He studied her for a second, then asked the question that mattered. "You saw the fight. What do you think of my strength? Do I have what it takes to kill Muzan like Yoriichi did?"
Tamayo hesitated. She tried to compare the two men and came up empty. Yoriichi had ended the fight in seconds with overwhelming swordsmanship. Shuya had beaten an Upper Rank with raw power and some kind of ability that let him steal Blood Demon Arts. They were completely different.
"I don't know," she admitted.
Shuya smiled. That was good enough. It meant she already respected what she had seen.
"You're probably wondering why I let the Upper Rank go," he said.
Tamayo nodded.
"It's simple. I have an ability called Equivalent Exchange. I can trade anything both sides consider equal in value. I offered him his life in exchange for his Blood Demon Art. He accepted."
Tamayo's mouth fell open. Stealing a demon's power like that was insane. No wonder he felt untouchable.
Shuya continued. "I know your history. I know how much you hate Muzan. And I'm not shy about it—I have the strength to kill him. So here's the deal."
Tamayo's breathing quickened. She had spent centuries watching the Corps grow weaker while Muzan stayed hidden. Now this man was offering real power and asking for a trade.
"You want my Blood Demon Art?" she asked.
Shuya shook his head. "No. I want you to work for me until you finish two things."
"First, develop a drug that can turn demons back into humans."
Tamayo's face fell. "That's impossible. I've been researching it for over two hundred years."
Shuya raised a hand to stop her. He nodded at Shizuka. "Hand it over."
Shizuka pulled out the small glass vial filled with dark blood and passed it to Tamayo.
Tamayo's eyes locked onto it. Her instincts screamed. She knew exactly what it was.
"Muzan's blood," Shuya said calmly.
Tamayo's hands trembled. With this, everything changed.
"Shizuka's medical knowledge is on your level," Shuya added. "Between the two of you and this sample, I think you can actually finish the drug."
Tamayo stared at the vial like it was salvation itself. She had given up on the Corps. She had pinned everything on creating a reversion drug. Now she had the missing piece.
She looked up at Shuya, voice steady. "If this is real, I'll finish the reversion drug. I swear it."
Shuya nodded. "Good. My second request is a drug that lets demons overcome sunlight, removes their craving for human flesh, and lets them eat normal food like everyone else. Basically… a longevity drug without the downsides."
Tamayo's expression twisted. Her grip on the vial tightened until her knuckles went white. For a second Shuya thought she might actually crush it.
She glared at him, voice low and furious. "You bastard. What the hell do you even think life is?"
