Among all the contractors currently gathered, Shinobu was without a doubt the smallest.

At her age she already had a promising future as an airport runway. Setting aside the fact that women from the apocalypse world tended to be especially well-endowed, she couldn't even compare to her adopted little sister, Kanao.

Right now the tiny Insect Hashira stood surrounded by a crowd of very large women. The whole scene gave off a ridiculous "husky that accidentally wandered into a wolf pack" vibe.

Especially when she noticed several of them glancing her way for no obvious reason, Shinobu felt a wave of secondhand embarrassment wash over her.

Out of everyone here, she only really knew two people. Shizuka, who spent a lot of time at the Butterfly Mansion with Tamayo. And Saeko, who had occasionally joined Kanae in teaching Nezuko and Mitsuri Breathing Techniques over the past month. Most of her and Kanae's recent Nen knowledge had actually come from Saeko.

The rest of the contractors rarely left Greed Island. They preferred staying inside that shared world, slowly reshaping it to their liking.

"Sister?"

Shinobu finally couldn't take it anymore and gave Kanae a sharp elbow to the side. Her big sister was still playing with the glass jar like Muzan was some kind of exotic pet.

"What's wrong, little Shinobu?"

Kanae turned, confused, then noticed the way the other women were looking at her little sister.

Shinobu might be the Insect Hashira and the one running the Butterfly Mansion's logistics after Kanae's death, but she wasn't shy by nature. There was just one very important condition:

None of these people were supposed to be fellow contractors who shared the same man.

Kanae caught on quickly. She smiled and greeted the group warmly.

"Good evening, everyone~"

"This is my little sister, Shinobu. Butterfly Shinobu."

She gently pulled Shinobu in front of her and introduced her with obvious pride.

"Introduce…?"

Shinobu blinked, then stared at her sister in disbelief.

Wait. Did she just say "introduce"?

Does that mean she already knows all these women?

Since when did her social circle get this big? And why the hell didn't I know about any of them? We spend almost all our time together!

Oh. I see how it is. All you big-chested girls are having fun without me, huh?

Yuriko Takagi stepped forward, gave Shinobu a once-over, and smiled.

"So this is the little sister Kanae keeps talking about? She really is as cute as you described."

"Of course she is," Kanae said, wrapping her arms around Shinobu from behind and pressing her chest against her sister's back. "My Shinobu is the cutest in the world. No arguments allowed."

When it came to being a siscon, Kanae had no equal.

Ever since she learned about Greed Island, she'd been sneaking over there constantly. After Shuya brought back Mei (the former Upper Rank Six) and those five adorable little girls from the red-light district, she'd been going even more often. She'd even secretly had Shuya contract Kanao and bind the three little girls at the mansion without telling Shinobu. Nezuko and Mitsuri had almost gotten roped in too—if Shuya hadn't insisted they master Breathing first, Kanae would've already dragged them into contracts.

But her biggest siscon target had always been her actual little sister.

Even though she'd kept Greed Island a secret from Shinobu this whole time—even after Nezuko and Mitsuri got contracted tonight, leaving Shinobu as the only one at the Butterfly Mansion still in the dark—she still loved teasing her.

After all, what were little sisters for if not to mess with?

Kanae: This is only natural.jpg

Right now, however, Shinobu—trapped in front of her sister's chest and under everyone's gaze—felt anything but comfortable.

If she'd felt like a husky in a wolf pack earlier, now she felt like the husky being circled by the entire pack while the alpha proudly announced, "This one's my real little sister."

It was mortifying.

Shinobu lowered her head and silently cursed both her sister and her past self for calling out to her in the first place.

"Hello there, little Shinobu. I'm Yuriko Takagi. It's nice to finally meet you."

Yuriko, sensing Shinobu's discomfort, reached out with a friendly smile.

Shinobu didn't refuse. She gave Yuriko's hand a light shake and managed an awkward but polite smile.

"Hello, Miss Takagi."

"Oh, come on, we're all good sisters here. If you don't mind, just call me Yuriko-nee."

Yuriko patted the back of Shinobu's hand like they were already close.

"Y-Yuriko… nee…"

Shinobu had no choice but to go along with it. She couldn't exactly slap away a smiling face.

She glanced back at Kanae, half-expecting her sister to look annoyed. But Kanae just smiled, completely unbothered.

If Kanae had known what Shinobu was thinking, she would've said:

We're all Shuya's contractors. What's the big deal?

Besides, I can have as many sisters as I want, but Shinobu only has one real big sister—me.

That was also why Kanae had spent so much time in Greed Island this past month but never joined the others when they played with Shuya. Because of the shared-sensation link between her and Shinobu, it was simply too complicated to work around.

Shinobu let out a tiny breath of relief and turned her attention back to Yuriko.

The older woman was warm, but something about her smile felt strangely similar to Kanae's. Was that just her imagination?

It wasn't.

Both women were Transmutation-type Nen users, so their personalities overlapped in certain ways. Yuriko's friendliness toward Shinobu wasn't random either.

After introducing Shinobu to everyone else, Yuriko leaned in with a meaningful little smile and whispered,

"By the way, little Shinobu… we're having a little group activity later. Want to join us?"

Shinobu blinked. "Activity?"

"Mm-hm."

Yuriko nodded, then crooked a finger and motioned for Shinobu to come closer so she could whisper the details.

Shinobu's weird feeling grew stronger, but her curiosity won out. She leaned in anyway.

It's just a whisper. What's the worst that could happen?

The moment Yuriko's words reached her ear, Shinobu's brain short-circuited.

It felt like a kettle had just started screaming inside her skull.

Her face turned bright red in an instant. She went full steam-princess mode—something that almost never happened to her.

Yuriko had just told her about the plan the contractors had made before the battle: once everything was over, they were all going to team up and "drain Shuya dry." And she was inviting Shinobu to join.

Shinobu opened and closed her mouth, completely speechless. She looked over at Shuya in the distance, feeling suddenly way too hot.

She had thought doing it with just her sister was already overwhelming.

She had no idea they played this intensely.

Kanae noticed her silence and pinched her cheek playfully.

"Why's your face so red all of a sudden? Not that it isn't cute."

Then she turned to Yuriko. "So what did you tell her? Can I hear too? I want in."

Here came the fun part.

For a split second Yuriko's expression looked exactly like a fox that had just spotted an easy meal.

"Of course—"

She didn't get to finish.

Shinobu cut in loudly. "Absolutely not!!"

Kanae blinked. "Eh? Why not? I really want to know…"

"Doesn't matter. I said no, so it's no."

Shinobu's face was still burning as she held both hands up in a big X in front of her chest.

She knew her sister far too well. If Kanae found out what the "activity" actually was, she would definitely drag Shinobu into it too.

And that… that was already way past Shinobu's limit. Just the two of them was already intense enough because of their shared sensations. Adding more people? She couldn't even picture it.

Gulp.

Shinobu swallowed hard.

No way. I can't let her find out. Ever.

Kanae immediately put on a dramatic wounded expression, covering her face like she was about to cry.

"Little Shinobu is bullying her big sister again… I'm so sad~"

"Cut it out. The answer is still no."

Shinobu shot her sister a flat look.

She knew Kanae's personality inside and out. There was no way she was falling for the fake tears.

Seeing that her little sister had seen right through her, Kanae dropped the act and gave her a pitiful look.

"If little Shinobu says no, then I guess that's that…"

But I'm definitely asking Yuriko again the second you're not paying attention.

Shinobu saw straight through that too. She grabbed Kanae's arm and held on tight.

"Don't even think about it."

"I wasn't thinking anything~ Does little Shinobu like hugging her big sister that much?"

Kanae didn't resist. Instead she teased her sister right back. "You're holding on so tight my arm's going numb."

"Changing the subject won't work." Shinobu tightened her grip even more. "I'm not giving you the chance."

"Fiiiine~"

Kanae shrugged, looking resigned.

Yuriko watched the whole exchange with an amused little smile.

"That's a shame."

Shinobu immediately glared at her.

Now she understood. Yuriko and her sister were cut from the same cloth. The same mischievous, teasing personality.

It was fun when she was the one doing the teasing. When she was on the receiving end? Not so much.

She hugged Kanae's arm even tighter.

Even though she knew Kanae had probably given up for real this time, who knew what would happen the second she let go?

So Shinobu made up her mind: she was going to keep a very close eye on her sister tonight.

If Kanae got dragged into the big group session, Shinobu refused to be left behind to suffer alone.

The main strategy: I'm not going, but I'm not letting you go either.

After the whole Yuriko incident, Shinobu didn't feel quite as stiff around the other contractors anymore. She kept holding onto Kanae's arm while slowly getting used to everyone.

Still, every time she remembered that these women were all planning to team up later and milk Shuya dry together, a strange, complicated feeling twisted in her chest.

A while later, after Shuya had manifested glass jars for all the captured demons and sealed them away just like Muzan—

"Alright."

He clapped his hands and looked at the neat row of jars.

For a second he felt like one of the Ultra Brothers watching their monsters get petrified in the old TV shows.

He shook off the random thought and turned to the women.

"Keep an eye on these guys for me. I'll be right back."

Kanae poked his back. "Where are you going? Aren't you going to deal with Muzan first?"

"I'll handle him later. There's still one more Upper Rank I need to take care of."

Shuya waved her off without explaining further. Red lightning crackled around his body.

In the next instant he vanished from everyone's sight.

He reappeared inside a half-destroyed room that had clearly been caught in the earlier fighting.

On the floor sat a wooden door, strangely placed flat on the ground and left wide open.

If any Nen user used Gyo, they would see a massive amount of aura pinning the door in place and forcing it to stay open.

This was Shuya's work.

That was why Nakime had never answered Muzan's call.

She hadn't betrayed him. Shuya had simply locked down her Blood Demon Art with his own aura. He'd kept one door open so he could enter the Infinity Castle later, while flooding the surrounding area with his presence to stop Nakime from opening any more exits that might let Muzan escape.

Most of his focus during the battle had gone into maintaining that lockdown.

Another portion had stayed on Shizuka, since she was fighting the strongest demon of all.

The rest had been spread across the other contractors to make sure none of them got into serious trouble.

He had been splitting his attention too many ways.

That was why he hadn't noticed Tamayo's final move in time.

And now there was only one target left.

Nakime.

Shuya had no intention of letting her go—especially not when her ability to control the Infinity Castle was basically a budget version of Greed Island.

He looked at the open door on the floor, then jumped straight in without hesitation.

Twang!

A clear biwa note rang out.

The entire Infinity Castle began to shift and rotate at high speed. Doors slammed shut one after another with loud bangs as Nakime desperately tried to trap him inside a maze.

Shuya could feel her presence getting farther away.

It didn't matter.

The next second, red lightning rippled around him again.

He shot forward like a bolt of crimson thunder, smashing through every wall, door, and obstacle Nakime threw in his path. Nothing could slow him down.

It didn't take long before he reached the deepest part of the castle.

Nakime knelt there, clutching her biwa, long bangs covering her eyes. At first glance she looked like a quiet, elegant literary girl you might find in a library late at night.

The moment Shuya got close, her bangs parted.

A single enormous eye stared straight at him from the center of her forehead.

The quiet library girl had instantly turned into something out of a horror story.

Twang!

Nakime tried to play her biwa one last time.

Shuya didn't give her the chance. He flash-stepped right in front of her, slapped the instrument out of her hands, and grabbed her head with his right hand. His fingers tightened just enough to make his intent clear.

"Die, or hand over your Blood Demon Art. Your choice."

"Decide. Now."
