Chapter 1 - Prologue

"Khalsela Athena Anderson," Sela replied quickly, reluctant to give her full name.

Gildi looked at Stev, and Stev looked back at her. Stev nodded and then Gildi nodded too.

'What's going on?' thought Sela after seeing Gildi and Stev.

And when Gildi looked at Sela again, an uneasy feeling crept into her mind.

"You've been chosen as a student to attend CA," said Gildi.

"What!" exclaimed Sela in surprise, but fortunately her impassive expression was hard to read.

"Why?" asked Sela coldly.

"You'll find out once you're at CA, all your questions will be answered there," replied Gildi.

"So, tomorrow an envoy from CA will come to collect you, so you must pack your things; just take the essentials," said Gildi again.

"What if I don't want to go?" asked Sela.

"You have to go, because this is your destiny," replied Stev.

"My destiny? How do you both know that's my destiny? And what if it's wrong, then you'll be the ones interfering with my destiny." For the first time, Sela found herself speaking at such length, she'd never even spoken that much to her own family.

"I've already told you it's your destiny, and our task of selecting a student is complete. Now our only task is to arrange your move, so we must take our leave," said Stev, sounding as though there was no room for argument.
