"Ethan, Chris!"
A voice called out to them as they walked along the corridor toward their classroom. When they turned back, Logan was there, taking big steps to catch up, a big smile plastered on his face.
Many students were already in class, while a few latecomers, including them were still rushing in.
Before Logan even reached them, a figure bumped into him.
Without looking at him, he uttered, "Watch where you're going, pig!"
Christan's eyes widened as he recognized the guy, Jasper. It seemed he couldn't enjoy any peace.
Logan grabbed Jasper's shoulder, stopping him. "What did you say, fucker?"
Jasper turned with an arrogant face and glanced at his shoulder. "Watch where you're going, motherfucking p—"
Before he could finish, Logan grabbed Jasper's arms, lifted him whole, and slammed him onto the hard floor with a thud.
Christan closed his eyes as he felt Jasper's pain.
Ethan noticed it was going to be a fight. As someone who had sworn to focus on his studies, he silently headed to class.
Christan turned to where Ethan had been standing. He left just like that. Weren't they supposed to help their roommates?
Though, from what it seemed, Logan didn't need their help.
But what if something similar happened to him? Would Ethan do the same? That heartless…
Jasper groaned as he felt the burning pain in his back.
The sound of the slam was loud enough that a couple of students looked through their windows, and those in the corridor stopped.
"Guys, a fight!"
"What? Who has the balls to fight openly in this school?"
"Jasper and some newcomer."
"That Jasper? He already fought four people this week and lost. Does he think a club will pick his shithead like that?"
Jasper stood up and stretched his back and neck dramatically. Then he faced Logan, who was about to walk away with Christan.
"You should finish what you started, pig."
Logan's steps froze.
His fists tightened, shaking to the max. There was nothing he hated more than being called that word.
Someone was asking for death.
Christan kept telling himself to do something, to stop Logan before the fight continued. But looking at Logan's sour face, he pushed the thought back.
Logan pulled out his bag and handed it to Christan.
Christan blinked as he accepted it. "Logan… you could just leave…" he muttered in a low voice.
Those in the corridor started cheering.
"Go and smash him!"
---
Ethan was in class, sitting silently as he focused on his book. He glanced at Christan's empty desk, then looked outside. He couldn't see him as the windows were covered with students.
What was he even doing there?
Ethan took a deep breath.
He shouldn't get involved with that guy.
So he continued writing.
---
"What?!" Joshua exclaimed in his class. His sudden jump even messed up Kai's painting. "Who's fighting who?"
"Some newcomer in Class C," the boy in front of him replied. "I thought you might know him…"
"It doesn't matter. There's a fight!"
Kai smacked Joshua's head.
Joshua glanced at him with barely contained rage.
"Is it your hobby to chase trouble?" Kai asked with annoyance.
"Mind your business, Kai. Don't act like you're my brother. Next time, there will be a fight!"
Shouting that, Joshua slipped out of the door.
Their classes weren't far from each other since they were in the same row. Soon, he was at the corridor.
But strangely, most of the students watched through the windows and doors. Even those in the corridor stood near the entrances.
Joshua stood beside Christan. "Hey man, I almost missed out!"
"You think we should stop him?"
Joshua smirked. "You're saying that 'cause you can't do anything, right?"
Christan moved his eyes away as Joshua's words hit the nail.
He could have left, just like he promised himself. But he was curious about Logan.
When Logan moved closer to grab Jasper again, Jasper sidestepped and threw a jab.
It landed on Logan.
But as if it had no effect, Logan grabbed Jasper's shoulder and threw him back to the floor.
Joshua laughed. "Kick his ass, bro!"
Jasper's face wrinkled from the pain, but he didn't dwell on it and stood up again.
For some reason, Logan now seemed huge like he was looking down on him.
Jasper couldn't get close, and his punches didn't seem to have any effect.
It started to sink in who he had messed with.
"Don't even try to run, brats! I have seen you all!" The strong voice echoed through the hallway.
Only after hearing it did the students erratically rushed back into their classrooms, sitting properly.
Joshua without asking what was going on ran back to his class.
Christan glanced at the teacher with freckles and met his eyes.
He didn't even see the need to run and just stood there.
In no time, the corridor was empty except for him, Jasper, and Logan, all gathered before the teacher.
"Wait here," said the teacher before stepping into Class C.
He glanced around the room and started pointing at students. "You, you, and you. Get out."
When he finished, he went to Class B and did the same.
Soon, Christan found himself standing with Joshua again.
It seemed Joshua had been among those the teacher marked, maybe his loud cheering played a big role.
"Seriously, Chris, you didn't even try to run. What if it were the police?" Joshua hissed in disbelief.
Christan scratched his cheek. "I tried… but why police…"
"You think we're screwed?" Joshua asked, looking around.
Jasper scoffed. "That's Sir Silas, you moron. Just make sure you don't wet your pants, whatever he has planned for us."
Logan glanced at Jasper with obvious anger. Because of him, he had wasted his study time.
Christan's heart skipped. What might happen to them?
He glanced at Joshua, but he didn't seem nervous at all. He wouldn't even be surprised if he was excited.
Not long after, Silas arrived with students from Class A, and they joined them.
Facing them, Silas who had just an average body, started, "I think I should do something that will benefit both of us."
He glanced at them one after another.
"You were supposed to study, but you chose to fight. So I think… let those who want to study, study peacefully." He smiled, revealing all his teeth.
"As for those who want a fight…" His eyes gleamed. "Let's do just that."
