Chapter 40 - Jason. I don't like him.

Author POV.

Everyone was so occupied, they failed to notice the shadow creeping towards Jay with a knife...

Everyone except Kiefer.

Kiefer pov.

My heart almost stopped when I saw him. A guy who wasn't part of the street gang came up behind her. I was too far away.

That doesn't mean I didn't try. I ran towards her, but before I could reach, he stuck his knife out right at her.

Unfortunately, he wasn't stopped by anyone. Fortunately, Jay noticed. I'm starting to think my woman notices everything at this point. She dodged.

She just calmly stepped sideways, while his own momentum caused him to topple and fall face-first to the ground.

"Watch where you're going. You almost bumped into me." She said sarcastically. She held out her hand for him to get up. The poor guy looked confused, but took her hand anyway. Wrong move.

The minute his hand touched hers, she swung out her free arm and punched him. He came toward her, she kicked him in his knees.

"Who sent you?" She demanded, her voice stripped of all the warmth it had held when she was talking about her brother.

The man smiled creepily. "You forgot him? The one you sent to a hospital. Actually, both the people you sent to the hospital. Finally, we found you now."

Her face hardened. She let him go. He almost ran. Before he left- she spoke.

"Tell them they so need to find me. I'm not hiding, not from them."

The man ran.

(3 days later. A day before ci n's birthday)

Kiefer pov.

All of them had somehow convinced me to come to Rory's father's restaurant. Ci n basically emotional blackmailed me to come as a birthday treat. And I couldn't refuse. So here I was.

I wasn't having fun or anything, until... Until she came. The table that was directly behind us. All the tables were secluded, seperated with a wall... But there was no mistaking that voice..

It was Jay. And by the looks of it, she had come alone. But she wasn't alone for long though.

Before anyone from section E could approach her, a painstakingly familiar face walked in.

Jason. My rival. Ram's brother.

He came in, I thought he came to pick a fight with me, but he died even notice us. He went straight to Jay. How the hell does he know her?

Jay POV.

Silence. Peace. Food.

That's why I came here for. Unfortunately I seem to have forgotten two things-

1) The place I came to was Rory's father's restaurant.

2) I exist. Which apparently means peace is non existent.

Let me start from the first.

Percy was the one who suggested this idea, which should have been my first warning. Anything he says ends in chaos. He said that I should go for a night out to relax my mind. And I agreed, because frankly speaking, I liked that idea. Mainly because I was on my periods and physically unable to do any work.

My periods were always a pain. And not normal pain. I had the worst stomach cramps. Even worse than a lot of girls I know. It was because I got abused a lot when I was smaller, that when I got my first periods the pain added up. And ever since then, my stomach decided to torture me every month.

So here I was blissfully eating and completely unaware of the incoming stupidity and the audience. He came in when I just kept the first bite in my mouth. Literally. Does no one let me eat around here?

Jason. God. Seeing him after so long. And still he makes me want to punch him across the face and break his stupid damn bones. It should be a talent to have such an annoying face.

"Jaybird. How's life treating you?" He asked

"Good until 5 seconds ago." I replied."Also? Don't call me that."

He grinned. "Relax. I'm just here to talk to you."

"Yeah right. After 3 years of silence? Fat chance." I said.

"Who knows? Maybe I just miss my girlfriend. And came to see her eating alone without me."

"Ex- girlfriend." I corrected him. "What do you want?"

"You. You are my girlfriend. I'm allowed to meet you." He said.

I sneered. "Was. Was your girlfriend, Jason, past tense. Do you atleast know grammar or do you need me to teach you that along with some manners?"

His eyes narrowed. "Jay, you were the one who broke up with me over a small thing. I know that I made a mistake-"

"A mistake? Cheating is not a mistake, Jason. It's a choice. You broke the relationship the minute you cheated on me and lied to my face not once, not twice, but multiple times. I just ended what was never there to begin with."

"Jay it was a misunderstanding-" he started to say.

"So, what, I hallucinated you kissing other girls? I imagined it?" I asked sarcastically.

"No Jay. I did wrong. But I still love you and-"

"Cut the crap, Jason. Why are you really here?" I asked.

"Because I really missed you and I felt like I atleast owed you an apology. I know you might not want to forgive me, and I don't think I deserve it. But I'm still asking."

"What a load of bullshit. You cheated, laughed on my face when I broke up with you, blocked me as if I was the one who cheated you, didn't show your stupid ugly face for 3 years- which I'm not complaining btw- and suddenly remembered I exist? I'm not stupid. What are you really here for?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

My food's getting cold. Oh no. Is it angry at me because I haven't ate it yet? It's all this idiots fault. Why does no one let me EAT peacefully?

He smirked. "Fine. You caught me. You were always really smart, Jaybird. If you still are, you'll know to accept my offer." He said, the nickname making me recoil.

I raised an eyebrow. He continued speaking. Unfortunately.

"I want revenge on Kiefer. I know you do too. So here's the plan-" he started.

"Hold up. What makes you think I'll agree to this stupid plan of yours?"

"Well, obviously you want revenge on Kiefer-"

"If I wanted revenge I would have gotten revenge a long time ago. And I don't need you to do that."

He frowned. "Why would you not want revenge? I mean, he hurt you."

"You don't know me at all, do you?" I asked. And this guy was my boyfriend once upon a time. Just shows that he never really loved me. "Revenge is for the weak. That's what I've always believed in. That's what I will continue to believe in. I'm not stooping low to his level. I'm not him. And I don't want to be." I stated firmly.

"You haven't changed one bit, have you? I missed this." He said.

"Two things. Number 1- I really admire how smart you are to have been talking about revenge on Kiefer in his own friend's restaurant. Really intelligent. Really brilliant." I said sarcastically.

He looked guilty. "Yeah, I kinda forgot-"

I didn't let him finish speaking. "Number 2- I don't understand, how you're sitting here without shame talking to me as if I owe you a single damn shit."

"You broke up with me for no reason. I think you DO owe me."

"No reason? You cheated. Multiple times. Say I owe you again and I'll punch you." I said. My temper was starting to rise now.

"And you overreacted. You're always overdramatic. Making a small thing a big dea-"

He didn't get to finish.

THWACK!

I punched him. Straight across the face.

"Keep talking." I said.

He didn't get the hint. Even after being punched. "Maybe you should shut me up by kissing me inste-"

THWACK!

Another punch. "You never learn from your mistakes. Should have stopped talking after the first punch."

He smiled slowly, when I noticed something. The place which was buzzing with customers just minutes ago was now completely eerily silent. Too silent. That's when I realised- the whole restaurant had emptied out.

And now, a few of his goons were surrounding us now. A few as in almost 30 men.

Usually I could have taken down all of them, it would have been hard- but I could have. But today? I was doomed. I couldn't fight with my full strength now. Like I said, I'm on my periods. I'm already too much in pain and weak.

My heart dropped. Shit! What do I do now?
