Chapter 43 - The Beginning of the End

Chapter 43: The Price of Becoming Unstoppable

The battlefield was silent.

Not because the fight had ended—

But because something far more dangerous had begun.

Meera stood alone at the center.

Her body still.

Too still.

The air around her trembled.

Not violently—

But unnaturally.

As if the world itself was afraid to move.

Arjun took a step forward.

"…Meera?"

No response.

Her head slowly lifted.

Her eyes—

Glowing.

Not like before.

This wasn't just power.

This was something deeper.

Something… unstable.

"…You pushed too far," the figure said quietly from the distance.

Its voice no longer mocking.

But cautious.

"…This level of power always has a cost."

Meera's fingers twitched.

Energy flickered around her.

But it wasn't smooth anymore.

It pulsed.

Like it was alive.

"…Cost…?" she repeated softly.

Her voice… different.

Colder.

Detached.

Arjun's expression tightened.

"…Meera, listen to me," he said firmly.

"…Stay in control."

Silence.

Then—

A faint smile appeared on her face.

"…Control?"

The ground beneath her cracked suddenly.

Energy exploded outward.

Wild.

Unfiltered.

BOOM!

Arjun was forced back instantly.

The figure stepped away too.

For the first time—

Both of them reacted the same way.

With caution.

"…This isn't good," Arjun muttered.

Meera slowly stepped forward.

Each step—

Heavier.

More destructive.

"…Why should I hold back…?" she said quietly.

"…When this power can end everything?"

Her energy surged again.

Stronger than anything before.

But unstable.

Dangerous.

Even to herself.

The figure watched carefully.

"…You've crossed the line," it said.

"…You're no longer in control."

Meera stopped.

For a second—

Something flickered in her eyes.

Doubt.

Fear.

Then—

Gone.

"…I don't need control," she said.

"…I just need strength."

She disappeared.

In an instant—

She was in front of the figure.

Her attack landed.

Harder than anything before.

The impact shook the entire battlefield.

The figure was thrown back.

Crashing into the ground.

Dust filled the air.

"…Impossible…" it whispered.

But Meera didn't stop.

She attacked again.

And again.

Each strike more destructive.

Less controlled.

More dangerous.

Arjun clenched his fists.

"…This isn't her…"

"…She's losing herself…"

The figure barely managed to block another attack.

"…You're destroying yourself," it said.

Meera's expression didn't change.

"…Then I'll destroy everything with me."

That sentence—

Hit harder than any attack.

Arjun's eyes widened.

"…No…"

He stepped forward.

Fast.

Blocking her next strike mid-air.

CRASH!

The impact sent shockwaves in every direction.

"…Meera, stop!" he shouted.

She looked at him.

For the first time—

Directly.

Her glowing eyes met his.

"…Move," she said.

Cold.

Emotionless.

Arjun didn't move.

"I won't."

Silence.

The energy between them built up.

Tense.

Unstable.

"…Don't make me hurt you," she said quietly.

Arjun's voice didn't shake.

"…Then come back."

For a moment—

Time stopped.

Meera's power flickered again.

Stronger.

Wilder.

But inside—

Something struggled.

Two forces.

Fighting.

One for control—

One for destruction.

The battlefield trembled.

Because the real fight…

Was no longer outside.

It was inside her.
