Chapter 51 - The power of choice

Chapter 51: When the World Starts to Break

The sky was no longer the same.

It hadn't been for a while now.

Cracks—

Invisible to normal eyes—

Spread across it like shattered glass.

Meera could see them clearly.

Every single one.

"…It's getting worse," she whispered.

The air around her trembled slightly.

Not because of her power—

But because the world itself was unstable.

Arjun stood beside her.

His expression serious.

"…It's not just this place anymore," he said.

"…It's spreading."

Meera's eyes tightened.

"…Because of me?"

Silence.

That silence was the answer.

Her chest felt heavy.

"…I didn't mean for this to happen…"

Arjun looked at her.

"…I know."

"But intentions don't stop consequences."

Those words hit harder than any attack.

Meera looked at her hands.

The same power she had learned to control—

Now affecting everything around her.

"…Then I'll fix it," she said.

Her voice low—

But determined.

Before Arjun could reply—

The sky cracked.

This time—

Visibly.

A deep, dark fracture tore across the air.

CRRRRACK!

The sound echoed like the world itself was screaming.

Both of them looked up instantly.

"…It's starting," Arjun said.

From the crack—

Something began to emerge.

Not a person.

Not a creature.

Something…

Worse.

A presence.

Heavy.

Ancient.

And terrifying.

Meera felt it immediately.

Her body froze for a second.

"…This…"

Her voice trembled slightly.

"…This is different…"

The air turned cold.

The ground beneath them began to break apart slowly.

Not violently—

But inevitably.

As if it couldn't hold that presence.

"…So…"

A voice echoed from the crack.

Deep.

Distorted.

"…You're the one causing this disturbance."

Meera stepped forward.

Even though her instincts screamed at her to stop.

"…Who are you?" she asked.

A pause.

Then—

A faint shape began to form inside the crack.

"…I am not something you can understand."

The pressure increased instantly.

Crushing.

Even stronger than anything she had faced before.

Arjun stepped slightly in front of her.

"…Be careful," he whispered.

"…This isn't like the others."

Meera didn't move back.

"…I'm done being afraid," she said quietly.

Her energy began to rise again.

Slowly.

Controlled.

But this time—

There was something else mixed into it.

Something deeper.

"…You think power makes you strong?" the voice said.

"…You're nothing more than a mistake."

Those words—

Cut deep.

But Meera didn't react like before.

She didn't break.

She didn't hesitate.

"…Maybe," she said.

"…But I'm still standing."

Her energy flared.

Stronger.

Brighter.

The crack in the sky reacted.

Shaking slightly.

"…Interesting…" the voice whispered.

"…You resist."

The presence began to descend slowly.

The world around it bending.

Reality distorting.

"…Then show me…"

"…how long you can keep that up."

Meera stepped forward again.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Only determination.

"…As long as it takes."

The ground shattered beneath her feet.

The real battle—

Had just begun.
