"You should sit down," Kaelen said, because Lysander looked like a man who was about to fall, tired and somehow more handsome. "You look like you have not slept in a long time."
Lysander laughed, his voice horse. "I haven't slept at all in a week. Alistair kept me up experimenting with the crystals,"
He moved to the chair by the fire, dropped into it.
"The good news is we found which stone does what, He sent some to the research awakeners and with direction they will find more uses."
Lysander then looked at him and chuckled
Kaelen sat across from him, Sprite jumping from his shoulder to curl on the hearth rug, the beast's ember eyes fixed on the flames. The fire crackled and spat, sending shadows dancing across the walls, and the wind outside rattled the windows like a fist demanding entry.
"The bad news?" Kaelen asked.
Lysander's jaw tightened. His fingers dug into the arms of the chair. "It may take a while and the beast will not wait."
