Chapter 4 - The First Verdict

The only light in the cramped basement was the cold, blue glare radiating from Han Tae-Soo's dual monitors.

In the top right corner of the screen, the blood-red countdown ticked away mercilessly: 70:32:14.

Tae-Soo's fingers hovered over the mechanical keyboard, shaking slightly. Beside him, Yoon Seo-Ah sat with trembling hands, transferring the final files from her phone to the server. In the darkest corner of the room, Yoo Na-Ri sat with her knees pulled to her chest, quietly chewing on a triangular kimbap as she watched them work.

Jin-Woo leaned against the concrete wall, his eyes closed. His left arm was tightly bandaged, the skin beneath it heavily branded with thick, black, lightning-shaped scars. His muscles twitched, and a deep, throbbing ache radiated from his marrow. A mortal vessel, Jin-Woo thought, gritting his teeth. His body was healed, but the phantom pain of snapping bones remained.

Time was running out. Every second we waste... they get closer.

"The infrastructure is ready," Tae-Soo said, his voice tight. He pushed his glasses up his sweaty nose. "I completely overhauled the theme. Big, bold headers. The files are uploaded and encrypted. But Jin-Woo..."

Tae-Soo swallowed hard, looking back at the reincarnated god. "This is basically doxing and mass cyber-incitement. It's highly illegal. We can't undo this once it spreads."

Jin-Woo opened his eyes and pushed himself off the wall, walking over to the monitors.

www.shrineofwar.com no longer looked like a cheap, abandoned blog. It was wrapped in a heavy, authoritative interface of pitch black and glowing gold. Right in the center, massive blood-red letters pulsed: [TRIAL IN PROGRESS].

Below the header was the raw, unfiltered evidence of Seo-Ah's hell: Videos of the dark school gym, humiliating audio recordings, and high-resolution photos of her bruised arms.

Suddenly, a golden system window materialized in the center of the laptop screen.

[Sanctuary Feature Unlocked: Public Verdict System][Believers may now cast Judgment.][Note: Faith gain increases based on emotional engagement.]

Jin-Woo's golden eyes narrowed. "In a War God's temple, we do not worry about mortal laws. We sharpen swords. Do not ask them for help, Tae-Soo. Ask them for a verdict."

Tae-Soo stared at the screen for a long moment. He deleted his drafted paragraph of pity and typed a single, heavy sentence: 'Do not look away. Cast your judgment.'

"We're live," Tae-Soo whispered, hitting Enter.

For the first ten seconds, nothing happened. Then, the bot networks and underground forum links triggered. The traffic spiked violently. The online counter started spinning: 10... 54... 218... 500.

An anonymous live-chat box on the side of the site exploded into motion.

"What is this? An ARG? A movie promo?""Wait, that's a real high school uniform. That girl is actually getting beaten up.""Holy crap... did you listen to the audio? Those girls are monsters!"

[Faith Detected: Sympathy][Faith Detected: Anger][Faith Detected: Desire for Retribution]

The system notifications pinged rapidly in Jin-Woo's mind. But suddenly, the golden interface flickered.

[Warning: Faith Instability Detected.][Conflicting emotions are reducing absorption efficiency. Raw chaos is not pure Faith.]

Jin-Woo grimaced, a sharp headache piercing his skull. The points were flooding in, but it was a wild, untamed storm. Unfocused human emotion was too chaotic to be easily digested as divine power.

In the corner of the room, Yoo Na-Ri slowly lowered her kimbap. Her dark, ancient eyes reflected the rapid scrolling text of the chat.

"This kind of misery..." she murmured, her voice carrying a chilling, absolute weight. "It spreads faster than any disease."

For Seo-Ah, sitting right in front of the screen, the spread of that misery was a waking nightmare.

She was shaking. The most humiliating, helpless moments of her life were currently being broadcast to thousands of strangers. Her face burned. Shame and fear clamped down on her chest.

"They're watching me..." Seo-Ah whispered, her hands gripping her knees so hard her knuckles turned white.

Jin-Woo took a step toward her. There was not a single drop of pity in his voice. Only pure, unshakeable authority.

"No," Jin-Woo said. "They are not watching you, Yoon Seo-Ah. They are witnessing you."

Seo-Ah slowly looked up at him.

"To be a victim is to bleed alone in the dark," the War God continued, his eyes burning into hers. "But your wound is no longer in the dark. Your pain is now their anger. Do not bow your head. Let them fight this war for you."

Seo-Ah took a deep, shuddering breath. The shame slowly receded, replaced by a hot, dangerous spark of resolve. She looked back at the screen, and this time, she didn't look away.

"We hit ten thousand concurrent users!" Tae-Soo yelled, his voice vibrating with adrenaline. "Jin-Woo, they're tearing each other apart in the comments! What's the next move?!"

"End the trial," Jin-Woo ordered. "Give them the gavel."

Tae-Soo hit a few keys. The videos faded to black. In their place, a massive, glowing golden button appeared on every user's screen.

[CAST JUDGMENT]

Below it were three simple options: [Forgive] - [Expose] - [Punish]

For three seconds, the internet hesitated. Then, the voting bars moved. 'Forgive' stayed dead at 2%. 'Expose' climbed to 18%. But the [Punish] bar skyrocketed. 50%... 70%... 85%.

[Collective Judgment Reached: PUNISHMENT]

The golden screen flared violently. The black scars on Jin-Woo's arm glowed faintly as a massive wave of unified power slammed into him. The instability vanished, replaced by a singular, focused intent.

[Massive Faith Surge Detected.][Sanctuary Level Up Available!]

Tae-Soo threw his fist in the air. Seo-Ah finally smiled. They thought they had won.

And then, a sharp, ear-piercing static sound shrieked from the laptop speakers.

The flawless golden interface on the screen suddenly cracked like physical glass. Splinters of sterile, blinding white light bled through the digital fissures, spreading like frost over the website.

[CRITICAL WARNING!][Faith Corruption Detected. Your Sanctuary is being contaminated.][Victory Faction Interference.]

Suddenly, hundreds of new users with pristine white profile pictures flooded the site. The chat instantly turned toxic, manipulating the narrative:

"Losers always cry when they get beat.""She probably deserved it. Look at her.""The strong win, the weak lose. Stop whining."

The 'Punish' vote began to drop rapidly. The golden aura of the site was literally being devoured by the crushing, cold white aura of the God of Victory. Kang Do-Yoon was not going to let them start a rebellion in his own backyard.

Tae-Soo pulled at his hair in pure panic. "Jin-Woo! They're hijacking the UI! Our Faith points are corrupting! We're losing the Sanctuary!"

Seo-Ah took a step back, her newfound courage faltering against the overwhelming white light.

But Baek Jin-Woo didn't panic. He stood perfectly still, watching the white cracks spread across his digital temple. A dark, feral smile slowly spread across his face.

"They think they are stopping us," Jin-Woo whispered, the 500-year-old fire of the War God roaring back to life in his eyes.

He looked at the corrupted, chaotic chat box.

"Good. A war is meaningless without opposition."
