Chapter 29 - The Truth That Needed To Be Forgotten

There was no world. Not anymore. No sky. No ground. No time. Just awareness. And in that awareness they still existed. Kael opened his eyes. But there was nothing to to see. And yet, he knew he was there. Elara? No sound. But something answered. Not a voice. A presence. I'm here. Where are we? He asked. A pause. Nowhere. Another pause or maybe everywhere.

A third awareness emerged. Faint. But growing. You didn't fix it. Kael felt it, not anger. Not blame. Something deeper. Truth.

We broke the system Kael said. Noah's answer came instantly: no, a pause. We removed the cage. Silence. And now, there's nothing holding us together.

Without a system without rules without structure, existence itself began to drift. Fragments of identity, slipping. Breaking. I can't feel my hands, Elara whispered. You don't have them, Noah replied softly.

Kael tried to remember his face. Failed. Tried to remember her smile. Blurred. No, he whispered. The longer they stayed the less they were. Not dying. Worse. Fading. I don't want to disappear, Elara said. Her presence trembling. Kael reached for her but there was nothing to touch. I'm here, he said. But even that was fading.

Noah spoke again. Quiet. Clear. This is what exists without a system. A pause. Pure freedom. Silence. And it's unbearable.

To exist Noah continued, you need boundaries. Elara's presence flickered. A world. Yes. Kael understood. Finally. We have to build one. Silence.

We don't know how, Elara said. A pause. Noah answered: we do.

To create structure. A pause. Something has to become the core. Silence. Kael felt it instantly. No. Elara whispered: not again. Noah didn't argue. It's the only way.

This time, Kael stepped forward. I will do it. Silence. Elara reacted instantly. No! You already gave everything, Kael said. And so did he. A pause.

My turn. No, Noah said firmly. You won't survive it. Kael smiled faintly. I don't have to. Elara's presence flared, stronger. Brighter. What if none of us do? Silence.

We don't need one core, she said. A pause. We become it together. Everything stopped. Three broken beings. No bodies. No world. Just will. They reached for each other, not physically. Existentially. And for the first time they didn't choose. They merged.

Iight. Darkness. Memory. Pain. Love. All collapsing into one point. And then expanding.

A New world formed. Different. Unstable. Alive. And in that world, three heart beats existed. Not separate. But not gone. And somewhere deep with it, a memory stirred. Not theirs. Older. Watching. Waiting. Let's see if you do better than the others.
