Kaelen's POV
The sharp buzz of my phone cut through the quiet as I adjusted my collar in front of the mirror. Jaxson's name lit up the screen.
"Already missing me?" he drawled when I picked up.
I grabbed my tie and began threading it around my neck. "I've got dinner in a few minutes and I need to be in a decent mood. Don't test me. What do you want?"
"It's about Cyrus."
My hands froze on the fabric. "What about him?"
"Word came down that he was executed this morning. Sexual assault charges."
The tie slipped between my fingers. I caught it before it could fall. "Sexual assault?"
"Apparently he thought the Alpha's daughter owed him her body for his help. Figured she should pay up."
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. The words hung heavy in the air between us.
"Is that confirmed?"
"Multiple sources. It's solid intel," Jaxson said. "Thought you should know."
"Thanks."
