Kaelen's POV
Her body trembled against mine. I tightened my grip around her waist, using the marble column to support us both.
"Everything feels so heavy," she breathed out, her words barely audible.
"The marking affects everyone differently." I studied her pale face, noting how her pupils had dilated. "For an Omega, you're handling it better than expected."
A weak laugh escaped her lips. "Am I? Because right now the whole world won't stop tilting sideways."
Her legs gave out completely. I caught her before she crumpled, pulling her flush against my chest as her head fell against my shoulder.
"Sorry," she whispered.
Something about her vulnerability, the way her voice had gone all soft and breathy, sent heat racing through my veins.
"Let me get you somewhere you can rest."
