Lyra's POV
I stood there staring at Seraphina, my cheek on fire from where her hand had struck me. The world spun for a moment, but I steadied myself and met her furious gaze.
"My father told me what really happened." Her voice shattered with pure rage. "How you cornered him at breakfast after I walked away. How you threatened him with lies. Told him you could spread whatever story you wanted now that you have Kaelen wrapped around your finger. All because he questioned your role in what happened to my aunt."
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came. The accusation was so ridiculous I couldn't process it.
"Stop standing there looking like an idiot." Seraphina's entire body shook with anger. "Say something. Try to defend yourself."
"I never did any—"
"Liar!" She screamed so loud it bounced off the water. "You think I don't see exactly what you are? What you've always been? You're just some opportunistic slut who spotted a chance and grabbed it with both hands."
