Benedict's POV
The pack medic worked silently on my injured hand. Her touch was careful as she extracted each piece of glass from my bloodied knuckles. The metallic clink of shards hitting the tray created a steady rhythm that almost lulled me into patience.
But my attention wasn't on the healing process. My thoughts circled around more pressing matters. How well had my little experiment played out? Had Seraphina delivered the performance I needed? Had she pushed that Sinclair girl far enough to expose her true nature?
The door exploded inward without warning.
Seraphina stumbled through, her face a mess of tears and rage. Her cheeks were splotchy red, and her breath came in ragged gasps like she'd sprinted the entire distance here. The sight of her distress sent a familiar thrill through me.
I rose instantly, causing the medic to step back with her supplies.
"What happened?"
