Six o'clock in the evening arrived like clockwork, and I forced myself out of bed. The healer's instructions echoed in my head - movement would help flush the remaining toxins from my system. Staying motionless would only let the poison settle deeper into my muscles. I didn't question the advice. Lying there obsessing over Lyra's situation in the dungeons wouldn't accomplish anything useful.
The shower water scalded my skin, hot enough to leave red marks. I stood beneath the torrent and watched the herbal-tinted water swirl down the drain, first tinged pink with blood before running clear. Earlier that afternoon, the bandages had been removed, revealing the Mourning Moon's burn marks already beginning to fade. Celeste had commented on my unusually fast healing rate.
