Daphne's POV
The word reverberated through my mind like a death knell.
Bianca's lips twisted into what could barely be called a smile, devoid of any human warmth. "Pretty looks and a decent figure won't save you when the time comes. The murder accusation will hold. There won't be any mercy then."
My throat constricted as I forced myself to swallow. It felt like invisible fingers were tightening around my windpipe. "You've been talking plenty. But you haven't told me how I walk away from this in one piece."
Her expression grew more sinister, somehow worse than her usual scowl.
"Getting tangled up with that man," she said, each word deliberate and cutting, "was the stupidest mistake you could have made. You have no clue what nightmare you've just stumbled into."
Nausea churned in my gut.
