Kaelen's POV
The hallway stretched before us as Jaxson and I made our way toward the technical department. Harsh fluorescent lighting bathed everything in clinical white, making the endless walls blur together. My boots struck the polished floor in a measured beat. Each footfall pulled me closer to whatever discoveries awaited us there.
"You seem unusually cheerful today," Jaxson observed.
I shot him a sideways look. "It has been a good day."
"I imagine last night was even better." That familiar cocky grin spread across his face, the one he wore whenever he thought he had dirt on me. "The music in your room wasn't nearly loud enough to cover anything. Plus, the staff love to gossip."
Warmth climbed up my neck. I kept my gaze fixed straight ahead and maintained my steady pace.
"Once we get Luna Rowena properly established, you will never live this down," he pressed on.
"I suppose not."
