"Yes."
"That's..." Jaxson stopped mid-sentence and shook his head sharply. "That's an enormous accusation you're making."
"I understand that."
"It would tear this pack apart if word got out."
"I'm aware."
"And what proof do you have? Some blood work that could be interpreted multiple ways? A wild theory based on you supposedly reversing magical poisoning without any logical explanation?"
My hands trembled violently inside my coat pockets. I dug my fingernails into my palms to steady them. "I realize how unconvincing it must sound."
"Unconvincing doesn't begin to cover it," he said bluntly. "Forgive my directness, but what you're suggesting borders on delusional."
The harsh word struck me like a physical blow. I couldn't hide my flinch this time.
"Your honesty is appreciated. Just consider what I've told you."
