Lyra's POV
Jaxson rose from his position beside the fallen sentinel. His breathing came measured and controlled despite the intensity of the training session. Moisture glistened across his bare torso. Those sharp eyes of his locked onto mine without wavering.
He moved toward me across the training ground. Every stride carried purpose and confidence. The way he walked made it clear this was his domain and he commanded it completely.
"Luna Lyra." His voice reached me before he did. "Didn't expect to see you down here today."
I straightened my spine and lifted my chin. I wouldn't let him see me as an intruder in his space. I wouldn't shrink under his assessment. "I need a word with you."
He came to a halt just close enough that I had to angle my head upward to hold his stare. A hint of amusement played at his lips. "Feel like throwing some punches?"
My thoughts stumbled over themselves. "Excuse me?"
