Lyra's POV
I eased back from his embrace, still cocooned in his warmth and the cooling pool water. My body felt completely satisfied, drowsy in a way that made me want to melt into him and never leave.
"So someone was actually watching us?" I murmured.
His jaw hardened just enough for me to notice. "That's how it felt. Not now though."
I swept my gaze across the pool area. Nothing but tranquil silence greeted me. The sun hung lower in the sky, stretching dark shadows across the deck.
"Well, there's probably nothing as dull as watching us go at it like animals," I said.
His chest shook with quiet laughter. The vibration traveled through me where my ear pressed against him.
"Think it's connected to Jaxson somehow?" I asked. "Maybe Benedict?"
"Could be."
"I'm handling everything pretty well, I think." I angled my head up to meet his eyes. "So you must be the one acting strange."
He gave a small shake of his head. "I doubt that's the issue."
