I stepped out of the ballroom and found refuge in a secluded corner of the hallway. The weight of my emotions pressed against my chest like a stone I couldn't dislodge. It was about the Omega girl. About Lyra.
I had convinced myself I was better than this petty jealousy. That I wouldn't become the scheming woman in someone else's love story, especially not hers. People always said you couldn't control what the heart desired. It was the clean excuse everyone used when difficult choices needed justification. If Kaelen had chosen me in the end, then destiny would have spoken. Simple as that.
