Kaelen's POV
I had barely opened my mouth to continue our conversation when the sound of rapid footsteps echoed up the stairwell. Someone was racing toward us with obvious urgency. An Omega appeared at the top of the stairs, her cheeks burning red and her eyes blazing with what could only be pure excitement.
"The Grand Luna has awakened!" Her voice carried through the hallway like a battle cry. "She's conscious!"
The announcement struck me like lightning. My ribcage constricted so tightly I could barely breathe. A wave of relief crashed over me with such force that the world seemed to tilt sideways. Without thinking, I reached for Jaxson and yanked him against me in an embrace that was more desperation than celebration. His arms came around me just as fiercely, his palm striking my shoulder blade in rhythm with his own overwhelming emotion.
"She's conscious," I breathed against his shoulder. My voice trembled like a leaf in a storm. "By the Goddess, she's actually back."
