Lyra's POV
The omega slipped out of the bathroom with a quiet nod, her footsteps fading toward the door before silence settled over the room.
I began peeling away my clothes, each movement sending sharp protests through muscles that felt like they'd been beaten with hammers. The fabric clung to my skin in several places, dried blood acting like glue. When everything finally came off, I stared down at the dark stains covering my body.
The water called to me.
Heat slammed into my skin as I stepped into the tub, forcing a sharp hiss through my teeth. I didn't stop. Couldn't afford to. I lowered myself inch by torturous inch until I was fully submerged, water lapping at my collarbone. Steam curled around me like ghostly fingers.
My head fell back against the tub's edge as my eyes drifted shut.
