The estate's iron gates appeared through the windshield, and I felt something inside my chest finally loosen. We were home. We had actually made it.
Silas waited at the main entrance, his weathered features etched with worry. Celeste stood beside him clutching her medical kit, while three healing Omegas positioned a gurney near the steps. They had anticipated our arrival perfectly.
Jaxson killed the engine. Before the car fully stopped, I was already moving, throwing open the door with Lyra still pressed against my chest.
"Alpha." Silas's voice held the steady calm of decades spent managing crises. "Allow us to assist her."
Every fiber of my being rebelled against the idea. My arms wanted to keep her close, to never let her leave my protection again. But logic won out. I carefully placed her on the gurney, my fingers reluctant to break contact until the very last second.
