Chapter 2 - Strange things

"Did you just say prince?" Magnom finally replied.

"What? Do you want me to call you something else, young master?" I said. Thankfully he didn't look hurt.

The prince didn't say anything for a long while; instead, he was looking at his reflection in the mirror. He was mumbling something about a story. Poor prince, this reaction must've been the effects of his nightmares.

"Wait, is my name Magnom? I'm the good-for-nothing fast-acting brat, heir to the kingdom of Wisteria, right?" he finally said.

"I didn't know you were so self-conscious, young master." I said with a small grin.

Prince Magnom ordered me to leave the room and only return once he tells me to. Once I left the room, I saw Miss Tera, who was standing outside the door. She looked me straight in the eyes with sorrow in hers.

"So? How's the young master?" she asked me worriedly.

I crossed my arms. "He is fine, physically... Just acting a bit strange, but at the least he's fine." I replied.

She finally relaxed and then said, "Oh, thank the heavens, I was so worried about him," she sighed. But then realization hit her; she looked at me whilst panic filled her eyes. Then she looked at me with sadness in her face, she finally went on:

"Oh no, he must've punished you harshly! Oh, I'm so sorry, Petuem, I didn't think so far ahead. Forgive me."

I looked at her with a kind smile and finally sighed, "Miss Tera, don't worry. He didn't punish me, he was acting a bit strange. But nonetheless he's in good health."

'Miss Tera... Still after losing everything, she still acts like a caring mother. I can't fathom the pain she went through when she lost her unborn child... And her late husband, Mavros, was my best friend. After everything she still treats the prince as if he were her child, even if he treats her poorly and punishes her harshly.' I thought.

I was peeling the clean potatoes that I newly bought, suddenly I heard an all too familiar voice behind me.

"Sir Petuem?" the prince said.

I stared at him for a long minute before I broke the silence with:

"Did you call me 'Sir' just now, prince? Forgive my rudeness but did you hit your head or something?"

He looked at me dumbfounded, as if I just told him that his mother was a clown and his father an elephant.

"No, I did not hit my head. Why do you ask?" he finally scoffed.

"It's just your first time calling me 'Sir', Prince Magnom. It's rather strange of you to do that?"

"Wait... Oh right!" he said. He was about to smack his palm on his forehead before I caught his hand.

"Prince Magnom, stop this instance!" I shouted.

"What? Why? Did I do something wrong?" he cried out.

"You mustn't hurt yourself in any way!" I told him.

"What? Oh, right, I didn't show you yet." he finally said.

"Wh—" Before i could finish my sentence, he freed himself from my grip and grabbed the kitchen knife that was on the cutting board. Before I could stop him, he stabbed himself. But the knife didn't penetrate his skin. I looked at him, terror in my eyes. Don't tell me he has awakened it... It's still too early!

"See? I told you, just give me a chance to explain myself." he said.
