Chapter 9 - The Long Walk.

Accra didn't feel the same anymore.

Kofi walked through the streets slowly.

Not because he had somewhere to go…

But because he had nowhere left to stay.

Everything had gone quiet again.

No job.

No income.

No direction.

He had tried.

More than once.

And every time…

Something went wrong.

That morning, he made a decision.

Not because he wanted to.

But because he had no other choice.

He was leaving.

Not by car.

Not by transport.

By foot.

From Accra…

To Pokuase.

The Journey Begins

The sun was already rising when Kofi started walking.

His bag was light.

Too light.

Inside it…

Just a few clothes.

Nothing more.

The road stretched far ahead.

Long.

Endless.

Cars passed by him.

Fast.

Unbothered.

Some people looked at him.

Some didn't.

But no one stopped.

Kofi kept walking.

Step by step.

The Weight of Reality

At first, it didn't feel too bad.

Just walking.

Just moving.

But as time passed…

The distance started showing itself.

His legs became heavy.

His throat dry.

The sun grew hotter.

Sweat covered his face.

His clothes stuck to his body.

Still…

He didn't stop.

Because stopping meant thinking.

And thinking made everything worse.

Thoughts Along the Road

As he walked, his mind started replaying everything.

Abossey Okai.

Kempinski.

National Health Insurance job.

Every opportunity.

Every loss.

One after another.

"Why is it always like this?" he asked quietly.

No answer.

Just the sound of his footsteps.

Fatigue

Hours passed.

Kofi slowed down.

His legs were aching now.

His feet burning.

He found a small spot by the roadside and sat down.

For a moment…

He just breathed.

Deep.

Slow.

Then he looked at the road again.

Still far.

Very far.

The Breaking Moment

"I can't do this…" he said.

It came out without thinking.

For the first time that day…

He doubted himself.

His body was tired.

His mind was tired.

Everything felt too heavy.

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

"What am I even chasing?" he asked himself.

The question stayed in the air.

Because deep down…

He didn't have a clear answer anymore.

Choosing to Continue

Minutes passed.

Then slowly…

Kofi stood up.

Not because he felt strong.

Not because he had energy.

But because…

He had no other option.

"I've come this far," he said quietly.

"So I'll keep going."

And so he did.

Step by step.

Reaching Somewhere

By the time he got close to Pokuase…

The sun was already going down.

His body felt like it could collapse at any moment.

But he kept moving.

Until finally…

He reached his cousin's place.

He stood there for a moment.

Tired.

Dusty.

Silent.

Then knocked.

The door opened.

His cousin looked at him.

Surprised.

"Kofi?"

Kofi nodded slowly.

"I'm here."

That was all he could say.

A New Place, Same Struggle

That night, Kofi lay down in a new place.

Not comfortable.

Not his own.

But better than the road.

He stared at the ceiling.

His body was exhausted.

But his mind…

Still awake.

"I'm still here," he whispered.

After everything…

After all the failures…

After the long walk…

He was still standing.

End of Chapter 9

Kofi had reached somewhere.

But he hadn't arrived.

Because the struggle didn't end.

It only changed form.

And even now…

Life was still testing him.
