Chapter 20 - Something Stable.

The days didn't feel heavy anymore.

Not because life had suddenly become easy.

But because Kofi now had somewhere to be.

Every morning, he woke up with purpose.

Not a big one.

But a real one.

"I have to go," he would say to himself, sitting up and stretching his tired body.

His muscles still ached from the work.

His hands slightly rough now.

But he didn't complain.

Because for the first time in a long time…

He was moving forward.

A New Routine

Kofi's life slowly began to take shape.

Wake up.

Get ready.

Go to work.

Day after day.

It wasn't exciting.

It wasn't glamorous.

But it was consistent.

And that consistency…

Started to change everything.

At Work

When Kofi arrived that morning, the place was already active.

Men moving goods.

Voices calling out instructions.

The sound of work filling the air.

"Kofi!" someone called.

He turned.

It was one of the workers.

"You're late today," the man said jokingly.

Kofi checked the time quickly and smiled.

"Just small," he replied.

The man laughed.

"You're becoming one of us now."

Kofi didn't say anything.

But inside…

That meant something.

Trust Begins to Grow

Later in the day, the man in charge called him.

"Kofi, come," he said.

Kofi walked over quickly.

"Yes?"

"I want you to handle this side today," the man said, pointing to a section with stacked goods.

Kofi paused.

"Me?" he asked.

"Yes," the man replied.

"You've been consistent. Let me see how you manage it."

Kofi nodded.

"I'll do my best."

"I know," the man said simply.

That was new.

Someone believing in him.

Not based on words.

But on what he had been doing.

Responsibility

Kofi took the task seriously.

He organized the goods carefully.

Spoke to the others respectfully.

Made sure everything moved smoothly.

At one point, a worker asked him,

"Are you the boss now?"

Kofi shook his head quickly.

"No, no… just helping."

The man laughed.

"You're doing more than helping."

Kofi smiled slightly.

But he stayed focused.

Because he understood something now.

Opportunity doesn't come loud.

It comes quietly.

And you either take it…

Or lose it.

A Better Day

By the end of the day, everything had gone well.

No mistakes.

No complaints.

The man in charge came back.

He looked around, then nodded.

"Good," he said.

Kofi let out a small breath.

"Thank you."

Then the man added:

"Keep it like this."

That was all.

But it was enough.

A Small Change

When Kofi received his pay that day…

He noticed something.

It was slightly more.

Not a lot.

But more than before.

He looked at it for a moment.

Then looked up.

"Thank you," he said.

The man just waved his hand.

"Work well, you'll get more."

Walking Back

That evening, Kofi walked home slowly.

The same road.

The same environment.

But everything felt different.

Not because the world had changed.

But because he had.

He reached into his pocket again.

Held the money tightly.

"This is steady," he said quietly.

Not perfect.

But steady.

A Quiet Smile

That night, Kofi sat outside again.

But this time…

There was something new on his face.

A small smile.

Not big.

Not loud.

But real.

Still Holding On

"I'm getting somewhere," he said.

And this time…

He believed it.

End of Chapter 20

Kofi didn't become rich.

He didn't become successful overnight.

But he found something powerful.

Stability.

And from stability…

Everything else can grow.
