Chapter 34 - Rewrite the Rule

The world held its breath.

Not collapsing.

Not stabilizing.

Waiting.

Danny stood at the center of everything—

Not as a destroyer.

Not as a survivor.

But as something new.

A decision.

"…So this is where it changes," he said quietly.

Abby watched him carefully.

She didn't interrupt.

Because whatever he was about to do—

Would decide everything.

Ren crossed his arms.

"…No pressure."

Danny let out a faint breath.

"…Yeah. No pressure at all."

The Overseer stood before him.

Still.

Processing.

"—Unresolved State—"

Danny stepped forward.

"…You keep trying to correct everything."

A pause.

"…Because things keep breaking."

"—Correct—"

Danny nodded.

"…Then the problem isn't the anomalies."

A pause.

"…It's the rule."

Silence.

Danny raised his hand.

This time—

The power didn't surge wildly.

It flowed.

Controlled.

"…You force everything into one outcome."

A pause.

"…That's why it collapses."

The cracks around them trembled—

Not spreading—

Listening.

"…So instead…"

Danny's eyes sharpened.

"…I'll change the rule."

The sky shook violently.

"—Unauthorized Modification—"

Danny didn't stop.

"…No more single outcome."

Reality shifted—

Not breaking—

Rearranging.

"…Multiple realities…"

A pause.

"…can exist."

The cracks expanded—

But this time—

They didn't fight.

They aligned.

The Overseer raised its hand—

"—System Override—"

But it was already too late.

The rule—

Had begun to change.

Abby whispered—

"…He's rewriting it…"

Ren added quietly—

"…But something's off…"

Danny stepped closer.

"…You were trying to protect everything."

A pause.

"…But you were forcing it."

The Overseer froze.

"—New Rule… conflicting—"

Danny extended his hand.

"…Then update."

Their hands met.

And everything changed.

The sky rewrote itself—

Not one layer—

But many.

Realities coexisting—

Not collapsing.

The pressure lifted.

The cycle—

Stopped.

The system—

Shifted.

But—

Something else happened.

The ground beneath them trembled.

A deeper instability—

Not from the system—

From beyond it.

Abby suddenly grabbed her chest.

"…Wait—!"

Danny turned.

"…Abby?"

Her aura flared—

But uncontrollably.

Crimson energy surged violently—

Then flickered.

"…No… no, this isn't right…"

Ren stepped forward.

"…What's happening to her?"

The Overseer responded.

But its voice—

Was different now.

Less dominant.

More… informative.

"—Balance Disrupted—"

A pause.

"—Independent Realities Require Anchors—"

Silence.

Danny's heart dropped.

"…Anchors…?"

The Overseer looked at Abby.

"—Her world is destabilizing—"

Abby's eyes widened.

"…What…?"

"—Ruling Authority Missing—"

The words hit.

Hard.

Danny stepped closer.

"…What does that mean?"

The Overseer answered simply.

"—She must return—"

Silence.

Everything—

Stopped again.

Abby's breathing slowed.

"…Return…"

Her voice trembled.

"…To my world…"

Danny clenched his fists.

"…No."

A step forward.

"…There has to be another way."

The Overseer didn't hesitate.

"—No alternative—"

A pause.

"—Without her, that reality collapses—"

Abby looked down.

Her hands—

Shaking.

"…So this is the price…"

Ren's expression hardened.

"…You fixed one problem…"

A pause.

"…and created another."

Danny's voice lowered.

"…No…"

A step closer to Abby.

"…I won't accept that."

She looked at him.

And for the first time—

She smiled.

Soft.

Sad.

"…You already did."

Silence.

Danny froze.

"…Abby…"

She stepped closer.

"…You changed everything."

A pause.

"…You gave everyone a future."

Her hand gently held his.

"…That includes my world too."

His grip tightened.

"…Then I'll come with you."

She shook her head.

"…You can't."

A pause.

"…This is something I have to do."

The air trembled softly.

A faint pull—

Not violent—

But inevitable—

Started forming around her.

The connection to her world—

Calling her back.

Ren looked away slightly.

"…Damn…"

Danny didn't move.

"…No…"

His voice—

Barely steady.

"…We just fixed everything…"

Abby stepped closer.

"…No."

A pause.

"…We started something new."

Silence.

Her hand slowly slipped from his.

Not forced.

Chosen.

"…And now…"

A soft breath.

"…we protect it."

The light around her intensified—

Not blinding—

But final.

Danny stood there.

Not stopping her.

Because now—

He understood.

This wasn't loss.

It was responsibility.

The Overseer stepped back.

"—System Stabilized—"

A pause.

"—New Era Initiated—"

Abby's form began to fade.

But her eyes—

Never left Danny.

"…Don't forget me."

Danny's voice came out low.

"…I won't."

A pause.

"…I couldn't."

She smiled one last time.

Then—

She was gone.

Silence.

The sky—

Clear.

The world—

Stable.

But Danny—

Remained still.

Because even though everything was saved—

Something important—

Had just begun to slip away.

And that—

Would define everything that comes next.

To Be Continued.
