Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Power Outage

It wasn't until nearly dawn that the two of them finished their lovemaking, so early in the morning, Enda couldn't get up.

Dante didn't wake him up either, simply informing his secretary that he wouldn't be in until the afternoon, decisively turning off his phone to hug his wife and continue sleeping.

Danie knocked loudly on Enda's door, only realizing after a long while that he had gone out at some point. She got furious and picked up her phone to call. The ringtone sounded from inside the bedroom, making her startled. Going out without a phone? What kind of person is this?

The owner wasn't home, and Danie couldn't care less. She opened the fridge, took Enda's milk, soft drinks, and fruit back to her room, sprawled on the bed to stuff her face, and then scrolled through TikTok; the study materials she brought from the countryside hadn't even been taken out of her bag.

This was exactly as Enda had long predicted; if this kind of person could pass the university entrance exam, he would walk on his hands.

It wasn't until nearly noon that the lovers on the bed finally woke up. More accurately, they were woken up by the heat.

After checking a bit, it turned out there was a power outage. Dante frowned; their area was a high-end residential complex, there was almost never a situation where electricity or water was cut off.

When calling the building manager, the manager answered Dante, mixed with some background noise:

"Dante, apartment 501 next door to you had an electrical short circuit, leading to a temporary power cut. We are trying to fix it."

Dante was stunned; wasn't apartment 501 Enda's place?

"How could my apartment have a short circuit?"

Enda scratched his head, putting on clothes wanting to go back and check, but was stopped by Dante:

"You stay here, let me go take a look."

Enda thought for a moment; there were probably quite a few people outside right now, if he went out now it would be no different from exposing their relationship, so he nodded in agreement.

Dante opened the door; outside, there was a building security guard and a few electricians, and there seemed to be arguing coming from inside the room.

"What's going on?"

The security guard sighed:

"I don't know where the young owner went, leaving his sister at home. Who knows how she was cooking or plugging things in to cause a short circuit, and now she's still arguing with the manager."

He shook his head. Although he himself was working-class, uneducated, and rough around the edges, he had never seen a case like this. She was clearly in the wrong but still argued stubbornly. Furthermore, she looked bright and presentable but spoke without any manners; they were old enough to be her parents or uncles, yet she kept addressing them disrespectfully.

Dante frowned and stepped inside:

"Don't you guys get cocky, do you know who I am?"

"Miss, we don't know who you are, we only know you aren't the owner of this apartment. Now, please step aside so we can work. The whole building is waiting for electricity, don't get in the way."

"What the fuck, I don't feel like moving. If you're so tough, try hitting me and see."

"Joey, what's going on?"

"Oh, Dante, you're at home today too? Look at this, who knows how this girl used the microwave that now the whole building has lost power, and she won't let us in to fix it. I also don't know where Enda went, he left his phone at home."

"He probably went to class, let me try talking to her."

Dante smiled to comfort the manager, then turned to face Danie. She blushed slightly.

From the moment Dante stepped into the apartment, she had noticed him; his appearance was too outstanding. Moreover, seeing the building manager speaking so deferentially to Dante, she guessed he was no ordinary person.

"Little sister, I'm the neighbor from next door. It was hard enough to get a day off today, could you make way for these guys to fix the electricity?"

"Ah... um, yes. If these people spoke as nicely as you do, there wouldn't be an issue."

After speaking, the girl sashayed out to the living room, leaving the manager and the electrician exploding with anger. Damn it, in what fucking way were they not polite? They were just short of kneeling down to beg her.

Danie poured a glass of water and brought it over to offer Dante:

"Neighbor guy, please have some water."

Electrician and manager: "..." *Are we dead people or what?*

Dante politely declined, while already cursing up a storm in his heart; is 'neighbor guy' for you to call? If Enda heard this, he would probably glare him to death.

She started babbling:

"I really don't know what's up with my cousin, he's way too clumsy. Going to class without even bringing his phone, leaving me at home not knowing what to do."

As she started badmouthing Enda, the electrician checking the microwave called out in a sarcastic tone:

"Even an idiot knows you can't put vacuum-sealed stainless steel into a microwave. I don't know what hole you crawled out of to be this stupid."

Danie was so angry her nose went crooked, but considering Dante was here, otherwise she would have cursed up a storm. She stood close to Dante, stroking her hair:

"Your name is Dante, huh? My name is Danie, both have the 'Da' sound, we really are destined."

Electrician: "An ill-fated destiny."

Danie: "..." *Damn it, that dead bastard, do I have some kind of grudge against your family or something?*

Actually, Dante was also secretly muttering in his heart: *That is a misfortune of mine, thank you!*

Only a moment later, the electricity was fixed, and the building operated normally again. As everyone left, Danie still trailed behind Dante, making him almost unable to maintain his fake expression.

"Neighbor guy, if anything comes up in the future, please help me out. My cousin doesn't care about me at all; a girl like me has no one to rely on."

Dante: "..."

Enda often said this girl was smarter than her mother, so to what extent was her mother? How had his wife endured these relatives?

"Yeah, I'm going back to rest. Let's talk another time."

After speaking, it was as if he had greased his feet; he ran into his apartment and slammed the door shut. Before he even had time to breathe a sigh of relief, he saw Enda leaning back on the sofa, arm resting on the backrest, propping his head up, and saying mockingly:

"Neighbor ~ guy ~"

Dante: "..."

Damn it, he was suddenly allergic to this phrase.
