Chapter 23 - CHAPTER 23

‎Maya POV

The nerve of Lana. By the time I'm done with her, she'll hate every single one of her friends.

I bumped into Philip on my way to class.

"What the hell?" I snapped.

"I should be the one saying that. Watch where you're going, sweetheart," Philip said with a smirk.

I hissed and tried to walk past him, but he stepped in front of me.

"You know you can get revenge, right?" he said.

"Why would I take revenge? And for what exactly?"

He ran his thumb across his lips.

"Peter dumped you and is now busy sucking up to your sister. Lana stole your man and took your place. You think that's not enough reason for revenge? Or are you just a coward?"

He was trying to provoke me, and after almost thirty minutes, he finally got under my skin.

"What do you get out of this?" I asked, trying to figure him out.

"Nothing much. I just want Lee expelled."

I stared at him.

"Fuck no. You really think I'd go that far?"

"You disappoint me."

"No, Philip. You're sick in the head."

I shoved past him, hitting his shoulder on purpose.

"Are you naive or what, Maya?" he called after me. "What do you think? Five against one. Do you really think you're going to win?"

I ignored him and kept walking.

"What will people think when they find out their hero isn't really a hero?"

That stopped me.

I slowly turned around.

"What are you talking about?"

"You and that English teacher. You had something going on, didn't you?" he said with a smirk. "And I have a video. A very clear video."

My blood ran cold.

"How?" I whispered. "Philip, you're insane."

I always knew Philip wasn't a good person, but this was on another level. Everyone was wary of him—even the principal.

My voice shook with fear.

"What do you want from me?"

"Tsk. Follow me," Philip said.

Was he crazy?

How could he ask me to do that to Lana?

I hated her, sure, but that didn't mean I wanted to hurt her—or anyone else.

For a second, I thought about telling Mary everything, but I immediately pushed the idea away. She would probably help me, but after everything I'd done, I didn't deserve her support.

My thoughts became overwhelming.

I slammed my fist against the wall.

My phone buzzed.

It was a video from Philip.

Along with a text.

Do what I asked, or this goes viral.

"Shit."

I covered my mouth to stop myself from screaming.

That asshole.

I stared at the screen, my hands trembling.

I needed to think.

I needed a plan.

And fast.
