Chapter 82 - So You're Called a Bathysmal Vishap?

In this world, aside from a few gods who delighted in slaughter, most gods were born with a love for humanity. Orobashi was no exception.

Though his body was enormous and though he possessed the strength to fight Ei for an entire day and night without falling, he had always been kind to humans—to his people.

So when Orobashi "abandoned" his people, leaving them in the hands of the Raiden sisters, his heart ached. He felt guilt. He carried a deep sense of remorse toward them.

But in Inazuma, there could be only one Electro Archon. The sisters had won. Orobashi had to leave.

Now, when this young boy mistook Orobashi for the god of Enkanomiya, Orobashi once again felt the reverence of a people. Unconsciously, he began to see the boy as one of his own.

Looking at the small boy prostrate at his feet, Orobashi lowered his head, opened his great mouth, and spoke.

"Yes. I am the god of Enkanomiya. My child, what is your name?"

He could not bear to disappoint the boy. So he told a kind lie. It was only a small place, Enkanomiya. He would play god here for a few days, then continue his journey to the Dark Sea.

The young boy Higashiyama-Ō was so small compared to Orobashi that he was nearly blown away by his breath. But hearing Orobashi's voice, he danced with joy.

"My name is Higashiyama-Ō. Lord God, what should I call you?"

Higashiyama-Ō had never imagined that one day he would stand before a god and receive divine instruction. To him, this was a tremendous honor.

Orobashi said calmly, "Higashiyama-Ō, a good name. I am called Orobashi. You may address me as Lord Orobashi. Can you tell me about the current state of Enkanomiya?"

Since he had decided to play the role of Enkanomiya's god for a while, he needed to understand the situation. From the boy's clothing and his earlier words, they seemed to be struggling.

Hearing this, Higashiyama-Ō wept for joy. The god of Enkanomiya had returned. Enkanomiya was saved.

Then, he began to describe Enkanomiya's plight.

A long, long time ago, the war of the gods had torn the earth apart. People who had lived on the surface fell into endless darkness, never seeing the light. They lived forever in this land cut off from the sky, enduring suffering.

Until a thousand years ago, when the god of Enkanomiya descended, guiding the people to create Dainichi Mikoshi, bringing light to this world, and giving its people hope. They renamed their nation Byakuyakoku.

But good times did not last. After the god of Enkanomiya left, the Bathysmal Vishaps from outside began to invade their territory, bringing endless disaster to Byakuyakoku.

Within Byakuyakoku, those who called themselves "the Children of the Sun, chosen by the gods" seized power in the chaos and began an endless tyranny. The people suffered terribly.

Under the double oppression of the Bathysmal Vishaps and the Children of the Sun, the population of Byakuyakoku had fallen to less than half of what it once was.

Having explained Enkanomiya's situation, Higashiyama-Ō's eyes filled with tears. He prostrated himself again, bowing deeply to Orobashi.

"Lord Orobashi, your people have suffered terribly. Please defeat the Bathysmal Vishaps. Please punish the Children of the Sun. Please save your people."

He lifted his head slightly, looking at Orobashi's enormous form with eyes full of reverence.

After hearing this, Orobashi realized that the people here lived even harder lives than those in Inazuma. Enemies outside. Tyrants inside. Struggling to survive under oppression.

Very well. Since he had decided to play the role of god here, he would be a proper god. Orobashi made his decision.

He would take these poor people as his own. He would use his power to save them.

He looked at Higashiyama-Ō, still kneeling, and spoke again.

"Higashiyama-Ō, stand up. Take me to these Bathysmal Vishaps. I want to see what kind of creature dares to bully my people."

Orobashi's angry voice was like thunder. It startled Higashiyama-Ō.

But then, the boy scrambled to his feet in excitement.

"Thank you, Lord Orobashi."

He was about to lead Enkanomiya's god to confront the Vishaps. But then, Orobashi lowered his claw to the ground in front of him, nearly flattening the small boy.

"Get on," Orobashi said.

Higashiyama-Ō: "???"

Orobashi said impatiently, "You're too slow. Climb onto my back and just point the way."

Since his birth, the only time anyone had stood on Orobashi's back was when Ei had forced him to the ground. No one else had ever done so. This was the first time Orobashi had invited someone onto his noble back.

Higashiyama-Ō was overjoyed. "Thank you, Lord Orobashi."

And so, Higashiyama-Ō stood on Orobashi's back, clinging tightly to the great coral branches, guiding Orobashi through the water and between the rocky outcroppings.

Soon, two Bathysmal Vishaps appeared.

Higashiyama-Ō quickly warned, "Lord Orobashi, be careful! Bathysmal Vishaps!"

He knew how dangerous they were. The moment he saw them, he shouted, desperately trying to warn Orobashi.

The Vishaps spotted Orobashi and the boy on his back. Foolishly, they charged forward, launching several spines at Orobashi.

"Lord Orobashi, dodge! Those spines are deadly!" Higashiyama-Ō cried out repeatedly.

But Orobashi did not dodge. He let the spines strike his body. The moment they touched him, they exploded violently, startling the boy.

But when the smoke cleared, Orobashi's body was completely unharmed—not even a scratch.

Orobashi said impatiently, "Kid, stop shouting. Are these two little monsters the Bathysmal Vishaps you mentioned?"

He looked at the two Vishaps with disdain. These creatures dared to call themselves dragons?

Higashiyama-Ō said earnestly, "Yes, those are them. Lord Orobashi, be careful—"
