Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Hyakuya Orphanage

Luke breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the mission appear on the light screen in front of him.

It seems this game mode isn't entirely by the book.

At first, he hadn't expected to experience the maternal love he missed in the Main World within the world of seraph of the end, so he hadn't filled in anything when customizing his 'abilities'.

He should have known to fill in an ability to cure the apocalypse virus.

But there was no turning back now; he could only let Miku appropriately bend the rules to complete the mission.

Speaking of the mission, Luke frowned slightly. This mission was not simple.

Not to mention that his current six-year-old human body hadn't fully recovered the strength he had set before departure, so he couldn't defeat Vampires.

The location alone was vague. In his memory, he only remembered that Krul's Third City, Sanguinem, was in Japan.

Yuichiro escaped from Krul's territory. Luke remembered the exit was in a snowy forest.

But now human society was still normal, and he had to go to school. How could he find time to investigate snowy regions?

"Two years?"

Luke was lost in thought for a moment.

"There's always a way."

Looking at the sun overhead, Luke walked towards an orphanage in the city.

Hyakuya Orphanage.

"Brother Mika, you have to cheer me on! I'm definitely going to win!"

"Don't cheer for him, Brother Mika, cheer for me! I'll be the ultimate winner!"

In front of the orphanage, the innocent sounds of children playing could be heard.

Two boys, aged four or five, stood before a six-year-old boy with golden hair.

"Oh, this is tough. Taichi and Genma are both amazing. Who should I cheer for?" Mika pretended to ponder, stroking his chin with a troubled expression.

The two little boys in front of him widened their eyes, their faces full of anticipation, eager for Brother Mika's encouragement.

"Yo, Mika, Taichi, Genma." Just then, a sudden voice interrupted Mika's impending words.

Mika looked in the direction of the voice.

"Ah, it's Brother Luke!"

Genma, who had just been asking Mika for encouragement, immediately ran towards Luke.

"Good afternoon."

Luke rubbed Genma's head, smiling.

"Luke, you're here again. Akane has been looking forward to your visit for a long time."

Mika was also happy to see Luke.

The other boy had been coming to play with him and Akane ever since they first entered the orphanage. Now, several years later, they were very good friends.

"Taichi, go call Sister Akane over and tell her Brother Luke is here. Brother Luke will definitely tell everyone the story of 'Dragon ball ' again."

Mika said to Taichi.

"Okay~"

Taichi replied crisply, his face filled with excitement. He could listen to Brother Luke tell stories again! He then ran into the orphanage.

"Luke, how have you been lately?"

Mika came up to Luke.

"Very good."

Luke replied with a smile, then asked,

"Mika, is Mr. Saito at the orphanage today?"

"Mr. Saito? He seems to be chatting with the Director. Does Luke need something from Mr. Saito?" Mika was a bit curious why Luke was looking for Mr. Saito.

"Sort of. I heard Mr. Saito often travels, so I want to ask him if he knows about a snowy forest in Japan."

That's right, Luke was preparing to ask Saito about the location of Sanguinem.

Besides being the manager of this Hyakuya Orphanage, Mr. Saito was also the Vampire Second Progenitor, also known as Makoto Kijima, originally Rigr Stafford.

And the Hyakuya Orphanage was not just an orphanage; the children here were all experimental subjects of the Hyakuya Sect.

The Hyakuya Sect was also the organization Saito belonged to, and the outbreak of the apocalypse virus two years later was closely related to one of the Hyakuya Sect's experiments.

Now, the virus had not yet erupted, and Yuichiro had not yet joined the Hyakuya Orphanage.

Saito also hadn't become a hands-off manager, so he would occasionally come to the Hyakuya Orphanage to deepen his relationship with the children.

Luke didn't know what was so special about the suitable location. Could the Second Progenitor not know? As long as he generally described the environment outside Sanguinem's exit, Saito would surely think of this place.

As for Saito thinking of it but not saying anything, that would be another matter.

"Luke!"

A clear female voice came over.

Luke turned his head and saw a brown-haired girl with her hair tied up and draped over her left shoulder, running over with Taichi, who had left earlier.

"Good afternoon, Akane."

Luke greeted the girl with a smile.

"Good afternoon!"

Looking at the boy with purple eyes in front of her, Byakuya Akane felt a surge of happiness.

"Akane, have you ever thought about changing your hairstyle? This hairstyle is pretty, but... uh, it's not very safe."

Girl, your hairstyle is dangerous!

"Ah? But I've been growing my hair for a long time," Byakuya Akane said, puzzled.

"It's not about cutting it off, but maybe you could tie it into pigtails or something."

Luke explained.

"Pigtails? Would they suit me?" Byakuya Akane was a little unsure.

"Of course they would! Right, Mika?" Luke gave an affirmative answer.

Mika was caught off guard, not expecting to be asked to answer.

"Ah? Oh, yes, they should be quite suitable, especially for a cute girl like Akane."

Mika, your answer is indeed heartwarming!

Luke sighed inwardly.

"Is that so? Luke, do you like pigtails?" Byakuya Akane asked again.

Luke was stunned by Byakuya Akane's question.

"Hmm... well, I guess I quite like them."

Luke thought of his favorite anime characters, and pigtails accounted for a large portion.

"Let's not talk about this for now. I'm going to find Mr. Saito."

"Mr. Saito? I just saw him in the Director's office."

Byakuya Akane informed Luke about seeing Saito.

"Does Luke have something to do?"

"It's nothing major," Luke waved his hand, then, ignoring the others, ran towards the Director's office.

Byakuya Akane watched Luke run off, opening her mouth as if to call out, but then dismissed the thought.

She turned to look at Mika, who was beside her.

Seeing Mika look at her, Mika could only say, "Luke said he wanted to ask Mr. Saito if he knew about a forest in a snowy area. I don't know anything else."

Seeing Mika shrug helplessly, Byakuya Akane didn't press further, merely looking down at her hair without speaking... *knock knock knock~*

"Come in."

In the Director's office, the two people who were talking stopped speaking when they heard the knock.

Luke opened the door and entered the Director's office: "Excuse me, Director, Mr. Saito."

"Oh, it's Luke. Are you here to play with Mika and the others?"

The woman saw who it was, casually adjusted her collar, and then asked gently.

Luke looked at the location of the bite mark the Director had just covered with her collar and shook his head.

"No, I'm here for Mr. Saito."

"Oh? For me?"

Saito, leaning against the desk, clearly hadn't expected this. He had only seen this boy a few times in recent years.

His first impression was that he smelled very tempting.

Saito had once thought of secretly killing Luke's mother and then adopting Luke as a new experimental subject, or at the very least, tasting his blood.

But as the Vampire Second Progenitor, his intuition told him not to do so.

"Director, have you finished talking? I have some questions I'd like to ask Mr. Saito."

"You can go out first," Saito waved his hand at the Director.

"Okay, Mr. Saito."

The Director left the room and closed the door.

"So, what do you need me for?"

Saito, in a suit, looked curiously at the boy in front of him.
