Chapter 66 - Chapter 66

1st Pov Kuusetsu:

I involuntarily let out a sweet hum from a song I heard on the TV that the mansion had. For a race that is known for destruction, they can make some good stuff.

My heels tapped against the moving metal frame of a massive wheel that Xicor called a Ferris wheel. Its white colouring gleamed in the moonlight's gaze as Xicor walked on the other side of it.

People inside their little boxes talked animatedly, mostly love-struck couples and friends enjoying the moment.

I guess I'm kind of like the love-struck as I'm completely wrapped around the fingers of my consort, who was just arm's reach away from me.

Not that I mind; being close to him still gives me a sense of security, especially since he's hiding our presence with one of his abilities.

His potential is monstrous compared to mine, which absorbs people and turns their abilities into mine, and to big sis Taikyoku.

Her full abilities are still a mystery to me. Still, I did hear from big sis Shikoku that her abilities were terrifying, only mentioning that she's excellent at swordsmanship and archery, as well as having a multitude of abilities.

I guess Mother really went all out in creating her.

With me, I guess I am what power she had left; that would explain my so-called 'egg' state. It was made up of my ability to absorb people with abilities.

I have already selected a few people to grow my power, and I need to get stronger not only to be of use to my consort but also to take on Mother's sister and her own children.

I don't know the full story of what happened between them and neither does big sis Shikoku, and I doubt the rest do.

When creating us, Mother was already in a weakened state, only passing down the power she could muster before entering a deep slumber to regain her power.

Mother and Auntie are beings of emotions that everyone experiences.

Mother is the dark side of emotions, or sins as humans call them. All the emotions accumulated from them are created into power for Mother to absorb.

Auntie is the opposite and represents the lighter side of emotions, or virtues as humans call them. The same thing that happens with Mother happens to Auntie though more on the lighter side.

Emotional energy gives off different emotions to tell them apart. Dark side energy is suffocating and oppressive, like someone forcing everyone around them to kneel or die without saying a word.

Light side energy is warmer and more welcoming, like a gentle mother welcoming her child in a warm hug.

If any of these come in contact it would be a game of rock, paper, scissors, though it mostly comes down to how strong the energy is to the other.

Being a creation of Mother, I am somewhat connected to Mato and its environment, much like my siblings, though some of us have a different connection strength than the others.

But before coming here, I felt a disturbing feeling in the deepest parts of Mato, something that felt dangerous, even towards me in my current self, but it also gave me a chilling sense of fear.

Truthfully, it kinda scares me,

I shook my head lightly as I stretched my arms up, letting out a satisfying sigh before levitating off the metal and floating over to Xicor, who was watching me curiously.

"Want to go somewhere else?" he asked, ready to fly with me, but I held him down with a hand on his shoulder.

"Yes, somewhere with something sweet, but I want you to carry me the whole way" I said, already descending as his warm, strong arms wrapped around me in a princess carry.

My head gravitated to his as I closed my eyes, drowning out the noise of people talking and laughing as well as their mobile machines in the distance.

I breathed in his natural scent as I wiggled further into him. Slowly, Xicor floated away from the Ferris wheel, carrying me securely in his arms as we moved above the bustling streets below.

I opened one eye and glanced down at the people walking along the illuminated pathways. The colourful lights from various stalls reflected off the pavement as they actively attracted people, while the distant sounds of laughter and music filled the night air.

As we moved further away from the Ferris wheel, some people were queuing for the big wheel, others enjoying their snacks, and couples walking hand in hand or hooking arms beneath the decorative lights.

I found myself fixed on the couples, trying to figure out the best approach for a young woman to enjoy her time with her lover.

It was a strange sight to me.

I am a god of thunder, well known for being destructive and wanting nothing more than to eradicate this race governed by Auntie.

And I'm trying to figure out how to please my consort by learning from easy creatures.

Humans could be rather fascinating when they aren't killing each other. Then again it's true for most beings. We test our worth against one another to see how far we can push them and their standing compared to our own.

I shifted in Xicor's arms, wrapping mine around his neck before resting my head against his chest so I could feel more of his warmth and hear the comfortable beating rhythm of his heart beneath my ear.

"You're so comfortable" I purred while smiling to myself.

I heard Xicor chuckle as his arms tightened around me, though something was tugging at my heart, something about how those couples have a sort of noble attitude when they accompany their lover.

Should I be acting like that?

Is that how I should be acting, all mature and noble-like?

Is Xicor just putting up with me because I'm Shikoku's little sister?

More and more doubts were building up within me that Xicor is just pretending to love me just to keep Shikoku happy.

I felt my lips tremble at the thought of not being loved by him, before I could further dwell on my self-doubt, I felt a warm hand rest on my cheek and tilt my head up.

What greeted me was Xicor's devilishly handsome face with a warm and reassuring smile, "What's wrong?"

I couldn't help but look away from his face, forcing myself not to lunge forward and kiss him, but in fear of him seeing me in such a pathetic and sad state.

"...Do you... truly love me?" I breathed out with difficulty.

"Huh?" he gasped, like he wasn't expecting it. That was kind of reassuring in a way; maybe he felt that I had no doubts about our relationship.

But as a woman, I couldn't help but fear the unknown, especially anything that could break our relationship as it is.

I just want to be told that I'm truly loved, just like the others and not seen as just some immature idiot.

"Why would you ask that?" he asked, forcing me to look at him with another gentle tug.

My lips trembled a little, "Look down at the couples down there" I said glancing down at the vibrant couples below, all arm in arm with smiles plastered on their faces.

"Look at how they act with their lovers; should I be acting like that" I voiced out my doubts.

"Am I just someone to pity so you can keep my siblings happy" I choked out as tears built up.

Silence befell us as the sound of laughter and chatter of people below ensured that we were still in reality.

"...No, you're not someone I pity and this isn't a way to make your siblings happy", he said after a moment as he cupped my cheek in his warm hand and made me face him again.

This time, I saw his expression change to calm and reassuring. That smile he always gave me was still there, though it was striking that my heart beated faster.

I involuntarily gulped as my face heated up but I forced myself to keep looking at him.

Please, just say you truly love me. I'll put this matter behind us like air.

"Your immature self is what draws me in" He said with a fond chuckle.

I leaned forward slightly, a sign that I wanted to hear more.

"That immaturity isn't something to be ashamed of. It's a sign of freedom" he said.

I blinked, not expecting someone to say that, "Freedom?"

"Yes, freedom" he nodded, "You disregard rules set by those who aren't yourself; it would have forced you into becoming someone who is not your true self" he explained.

"Besides, I don't really care about those noble attitudes and how others act with their lovers because they aren't us" he stared down at the human couples below with a cold and indifferent look.

"We can do what we want because we enjoy it. I want us to be happy about what we do rather than becoming some people trying to put on an act" he said before looking down at me with a grin.

"So, is that reassuring enough, is that enough to tell you're mine" he said, leaning close until I could feel his breath.

My arms tightened around Xicor and brought him closer, "Then show me you love me"

Our lips connected in a heated contest of tongues as my hands toyed with his black hair and trailed the tattoos on his jawline.

Before anything could be taken to the next step, unfortunately, he pulled back with that mischievous grin.

My cheeks puffed up from being denied this opportunity, "So you don't love me"

"Calm down my goddess; we have all the time we want so let's enjoy our date, I've already got some ideas" he said, pecking my lips again.

I stared at him for several seconds with narrowed eyes, "You have 3 hours"

"Deal" his grin widened before two ice-cream cones floated in front of us out of the corner of my eye.

One strawberry flavour, which I snatched within a millisecond, and one chocolate flavour, which was gently taken by Xicor.

The cold sweetness melted in my mouth as I enjoyed my cone. Xicor continued to walk through the air until we reached the roof of a tall building overlooking the city below with bright lights.

We were lowered to the ground as he placed me down. Within a few seconds, I was standing at the edge, watching the bustling streets with playful ideas playing in my mind.

I wonder how this place looked when it was all destroyed.

Humans pride themselves on their creations, don't they? Then it would be very funny for it to be taken down.

Just as I was about to lose myself in my imagination, the sudden sound of slow and steady music reached my ears.

Blinking, I turned around to find Xicor standing in front of me with one arm behind his back and the other stretched out to me, just like in those romance movies I saw.

The sound of the music was coming from a radio not too far from us; where did he even get that?

He must've seen the confusion on my face as he answered for me, "I quickly went down to grab it. I was only gone for about 5 minutes"

5 minutes!?

I was imagining destroying this city for 5 minutes!?

I shook my head as I looked down at his hand stretched to me before looking back at his face.

His smile only grew, "May I have this dance my lady"

I couldn't help but giggle into my hand as I reached out for his hand and performed a noble bow, just like in the movies, "You may, my good sir"

With this, one of my fantasies is being fulfilled. I can tick that off in my mental list.

Victory for me! And screw you Naruhime! You didn't get a date with him, but I did!!

Our movements were off rhythm and clumsy, but we slowly got the hang of it. It didn't matter how badly we danced.

We were happy.

As the song ended, I leaned into his chest with a sweet smile and my arms hooked around his chest. Xicor's arms were around my waist, drawing circles.

As time passed, I looked up at him with a predatory gleam, "Your 3 hours are up, my dear"

His smile widened as I felt his shadow surround us before we appeared back in our mansion's bedroom.

"Then let's indulge ourselves, my lady"

Oh, I'm gonna enjoy this.

With this, I'll be ahead of Naurhime!
