Cherreads

Chapter 17 - 17

There are 21 aura signatures according to my Senjutsu senses, 10 mid class, 7 low class, and 4 high class with the strongest of them being the leader being in the top of mid-high class itself.

Overall a very impressive team even if placed down in the underworld, but without an ultimate class leading them, they are nothing but tender meats being served to me on a silver platter.

So I give them no quarter, and dash toward my nearest enemy, feeling a small stream of the foreign energy flooding my muscles.

It has a very different feel, this chakra, to my Touki, or mana, or demonic energy for starters, not that any of the aforementioned three are in any way alike to one another in the first place.

Chakra is harder to tame than Touki, but a lot less rigid than mana, and less volatile than demonic energy.

It's like an inferior, albeit more versatile version of Touki in my opinion, at least in regard to simple physical enhancement, although that could just be because of my shoddy chakra control.

But having another source of power to heed my call is never a bad thing, so I cease my complaining, and claim the first blood of the fight by punching in the head of a shinobi.

An attack from behind makes me tilt my head to the right, and shatter the attacker's ribcage with an elbow strike.

Two more come in from my side but I don't flinch, as I step back with both of my hands on their extended arms and yank.

It starts with a pop, then comes the nasty sound of tearing flesh as I use the kunai on both of the ninja's now detached hands to stab through their throats.

I then turn toward the frozen ninjas, a childish pout on my cheeks, and their comrade's limbs forming an X shape in my hand.

"Come on people, don't keep me at arm'slength, and give these two a hand. I promise I'm not a handful to deal with."

"You fucker dare mess with a member of the 7 swordman of the Mist?!! Leave now, before you bring the full wrath of Kiri on your head." One of them—a high class but not quite the leader— yells as he throws out his status arrogantly.

I'd have found his posturizing almost cute, if he wasn't trying to pull the wool over my eyes.

Plus my demonic energy and mana is rather sparse after making that anchor, so I drop the kiddy clove, and shroud my entire form in Touki.

A flick of my wrist, and the kunai I picked off from one of the ninja's corpses dives under the ocean's surface before blood starts dyeing the water.

To my left, the shinobi that had just shouted is dissolved into water as his true body floats up the surface in the far distance.

"Cute trick, but I just got here, and really do not want your mindless puppet of a kage, and his troublesome puppeteer after me so I'm going to end this."

The ground caved in from where I stomp my feet 10 times in a row, something that is only possible when using my Touki.

Soru!

I appear above an unaware Kunoichi, and punch down hard with my Touki enhanced fist.

The woman couldn't even let out a yelp before she got turned into a meat pancake.

My hand spread out, forming two golden mandalas to intercept the two water dragons about to sandwich me.

The reason I didn't use my signature nullifying shield spell earlier when I was bombarded by jutsus, was partly because I was out of both mana, and demonic energy at the time, but also partly because I was hard at work familiarising myself with chakra, and working out all the kinks of my spell.

With a bit of calibrating, using my own chakra as a sample, I am able to successfully nullify the two jutsu with my signature spell.

The dragons once in contact with the shield lost both its shape and momentum before falling, and making two large puddles in the ground.

I snap my finger, and send two lightning bolts in opposite directions, ending the two offending mid class, and four more low class lining up directly behind them.

Twelve down, nine more to go, I smile, and soru at the grouped up bunch of ninjas whom by now are all running toward me.

The first got a hole through his stomach for his trouble before I duck, and a lightning blade cleaves his corpse in two.

I smile at the female captain, and grab the hand of a mid class male ninja before yanking him toward the woman's second sword path.

Poor dude's flesh is cauterized as I kick the other half of his body toward the woman, before continuing my onslaught of her subordinates.

She chases after me of course, but her speed is nowhere near my equal even with her underlings in my way, as I start mowing ninjas left and right, while throwing either dead corpses of people I had just killed, or living ninjas her way.

Slowly, I whittle down her subordinate to the last remaining two high class, who look downright frightened to be anywhere near me, and the rabid woman who is breathing oddly heavily despite her still plentiful chakra.

My eyes narrow on her.

"You're dying."

I state, finally noticing her corrupted aura through my Senjutsu enhanced senses. But the woman doesn't even flinch.

"We're all dying the moment we are born. What difference does it make if I die sooner than I intend to?"

"That's a bleak way to look at it." I smile sadly

"Well the world is rather bleak to look at isn't it? Uzumaki." She spit out, her face resentful, but not at someone, but at the world itself.

Ah, I know that looks well enough.

Despite her misunderstanding of my origin, I still find her words resonate deeply with a part of me.

A part that was beaten down, tortured, and imprisoned by my damn master.

A part that I have locked, and hidden away deep into the crevice of my mind, yet still a part of me nonetheless.

So I snap, and two magic circles form behind me, high above the two still living high class.

Two chains, golden in color - seeing as it's best I play the role I was assigned - shot out of the circle and flew toward the two jonin.

One decides to face the attack head on by making a water wall in front of him only to be impaled when my chain breaks through said wall like it's paper.

The second decides it's best to run only to be gunned/chained down by the homing feature in my spell.

"What is your name, young warrioress?" I ask solemnly, having dealt with the non essentials.

The woman sighs, and raises her two lightning swords with a resigned, but fierce smile.

It's a beautiful smile

"Ringo Ameyuri, but my friends call me Ringo, even if most of them are dead now, so do feel free to call me whatever you'd like."

"I see young Ringo, mine is Levi St—Uzumaki. Let me ask you something, if I have a way to prolong your life, to cure that which is wrecking your body, would you take it?"

The woman sneers, her defiance shines even brighter in my eyes.

"I'd spit in your face, and ask you to spare me the false courtesy and end this farce already."

"As you wish, Ringo Ameyuri." I say, even if I have no intention of killing her.

Capturing her, and wooing her with my charm to convince her to join my peerage voluntarily though? Now that's a different story.

We both run forward at the same time, Ringo with her lightning blades, and I with my barefist.

"Wait!"

A scream halts my attack, diverting my punch to her right.

The flaming ball of lava that followed out of left field halts Ringo's own slash as a bosom woman with green eyes, and amber hair in an all blue one piece dress flickers onto the battlefield.

"I am sorry to interfere, my name is Mei Terumi, leader of Kiri Grand Resistance Army, and that woman is a person of interest to my organization. Would you mind sparing her? I assure you that we will reward you generously."

I remember her, and her appearance has just given me some ideas as to what I should do next while being stuck in this new world that I'll have to call home for the foreseeable future.

"Sure, but on one condition. You and your faction must take me in, since even though I might not look like it, I'm kind of homeless right now…"

I say, savoring the baffled look both women, and a dozen of other newcomers are giving me.

Yes, I think I'm going to enjoy this.

A lot.
