Chapter 20 - How To Do It? To No to Have to Run Away Again like a Rat that Cannot Cross the Street

All of this that had just happened should have taken all of Renelle's attention. But in the end, an aroma entered through the nostrils of the small golden-haired girl.

Somehow, the -muscle memories- or the -routine- of this life caught more of Renelle's attention.

Upon using her vital energy to once again observe those special threads that appeared over living beings, Renelle confirmed that the little eight-year-old girl seemed to have her thread split.

It was a very strange phenomenon. Something that should also have caught Renelle's attention. But she observed with care the vital thread of the mother.

A colorful, vibrant thread that emanated energy but at the same time gave a sensation of tiredness came out of the adult woman's body. The detail that caught Renelle's attention the most was that the thread, at a not very distant point, immediately turned gray, opaque, and with a calm like a cut thread resting in water.

Renelle knew that this meant nothing other than the transformation of life into death, that moment when a being stops being alive to pass to another form or another state.

Added to the special unhealthy smell coming from the woman, Renelle practically diagnosed this mother.

Renelle took a pen and a block of medical prescriptions that she carried in one of the inner pockets of her white trench coat. She wrote a phone number and the name of -Doctor Gregory L. House- and the name of the Princeton-Plainsboro University Hospital.

After thinking about it better, she also wrote Cameron's number.

Tearing the sheet from the block, Renelle handed the paper to the mother.

"Medical prescription pad?"

"Eh… My father gave it to me to play with. So, I can see that you are not well. My father is a great and prestigious doctor recognized worldwide. No matter what ailment you have, he can cure you!"

Renelle first stammered, but then, upon starting to boast about herself —or at least about her real identity in this world—, her chest straightened and she raised her chin almost pointing it at the ceiling of the library.

To finish, she gave herself a pat on the chest as if she were talking about herself, which in a certain way, it was.

"Doctor Gregory L. House? I have not heard of him…" the woman said while reading the name written on the medical prescription sheet.

But the woman also paid attention to the logo printed in relief on the sheet and to the prescription number as well as the batch. Everything seemed to show that it was indeed a genuine medical prescription sheet.

The adult woman knew about the university hospital. Although there was a larger and main hospital in the area, and she could name many others, she knew that the university hospital right here had been highly praised in recent years.

And the adult woman knew it well, since the girl was not wrong. She had visited hospitals in the last year, and although she had already been given the treatment option, she could not accept it because of what was happening to her little daughter now.

Because of the phrase in the mouth of this small golden-haired girl —"no matter what ailment you have, he can cure it"— she took it as a joke. She herself already knew what was happening to her body and the few options she had left.

But thinking about her daughter, whom they had also taken to hospitals, she did not want to lose that opportunity, even if it was a very small one, to find out what was happening to her daughter.

Of course, Renelle did not know the mother's thoughts. But even if she knew, she would not care. As long as the adult woman entered her hospital, he would take care of everything.

"Well, thank you little one…" the adult woman said.

"I am Renelle House!"

"Pleasure to meet you, young Miss House~. I am Jodie Mason and this little one beside me is Cheryl."

The mother extended her hand and Renelle took the opportunity to inject a little energy into the woman named Jodie. She did not want an accident to happen and that colorful thread to turn gray the next second.

"Jodie, Cheryl. I like your names~"

Also, Renelle took the opportunity to caress the head of the small black-haired and straight-haired girl, Cheryl, and inject vital energy into her to improve her condition.

The name Cheryl Mason should have ignited a memory in Renelle's mind, but after injecting a little vital energy into the mother and daughter, Renelle began to feel tired.

'With the energy I consume at this rate, the savings of my entire life will not be enough to pay for my food needs… But it does not matter. Meeting this mother and daughter has given me an idea to generate a lot of money so I do not have to worry about not having meat to eat… But it can be very dangerous…'

After saying goodbye to the mother and daughter —not without reminding and urging the adult woman to call—, Renelle left, completely forgetting her original plan of why she had come to the library in the first place.

When she exited through the double doors of the university library, the cold wind hit Renelle, who put her left hand into a pocket of her white trench coat and took out another candy lollipop.

For now, sugar was what could allow her cells to produce energy. Renelle could not go around all the time with a hamburger in her hands, could she?

After putting the candy lollipop in her mouth, Renelle set off on the way back to the hospital. She had to talk to Wilson about something that could change the world.

Then, after taking a couple of steps, she stopped dead. Renelle thought that she should better go to her apartment and create a more detailed plan. Besides, she needed resources.

When she turned her body to go home, Renelle stopped dead again. She remembered that at home she did not have anything private and secure enough for something like that.

So, thinking that the best thing would be to go to the hospital, as she passed by a car she saw herself reflected in the window glass of the automobile.

Upon seeing a small girl with an immature face who surely had not yet entered secondary school and was still in elementary, Renelle stopped dead once more.

'Shit! This is like starting a video game on the highest difficulty! How am I going to be able to execute my plan without it putting me in danger!!'

Renelle complained inside, although on the outside her face showed no internal feelings. Only her small mouth moved, turning the lollipop from one side to the other with her tongue.

'That a product that can cure all types of cancer suddenly appears will now be a great storm that will sweep the whole world. The moment it is proven that cancer can be cured, the best thing that could happen to me will be to receive a shot in the head. The worst is to suffer torture in a hidden dungeon of the world…'

*Crack*

Renelle, while thinking and looking into her own bright blue eyes in the reflection of the glass, took the candy lollipop with her hand and gave a strong bite with her teeth, breaking the lollipop in two.

'How can I do this? I do not want to have to run away again like a rat that cannot cross the street. Forget about giving it to the world. This time everything has to be in the palm of my hand.'

*Crack - Crack - Crock -*

The sound of chewing a candy lollipop could be heard.
