Chapter 49 - The Empire of the Sun (The "Heavy" Version)

The dawn didn't just break over the city; it shattered the darkness with a violent, beautiful explosion of orange and gold. Xavier stood on the balcony of the Vane mansion, his tall frame silhouetted against the rising sun. He could feel the cool morning mist of the Atlantic clinging to his skin, a sharp contrast to the internal fire that had been burning in his chest since he left Nigeria.

He looked down at his hands. They were the hands of a fighter, scarred and calloused, yet today they held a pen that was mightier than any blade. He thought back to the red dust of Abatete and the long, winding roads of Anambra. He remembered the smell of his mother's cooking and the stern, loving gaze of his father. Everything he was—every ounce of the "Lion" that the world now feared—had been forged in that heat.

"Xavier," Seraphina's voice was like velvet, cutting through the silence of the morning.

He turned to see her standing in the doorway of the library. She was wearing a silk robe the color of the midnight sea. In the soft light, she didn't look like the "Ice Queen" who had hired a bodyguard to save her company. She looked like a woman who had finally found her home.

"The lawyers just called," she said, stepping onto the balcony beside him. Her shoulder brushed against his arm, and Xavier felt a spark of electricity that a thousand contracts could never explain. "Silas has signed over the remaining shares. The Ugochukwu-Vane merger is the largest in the history of the continent. You aren't just a husband anymore, Xavier. You are the Chairman of a global legacy."

Xavier reached out, his thumb tracing the line of her jaw. "I never wanted the chair, Seraphina. I only wanted the justice. My father died with a name that had been dragged through the mud by the Vanes. Today, that name is carved in gold over the front door of the tallest building in the city. That is the only victory I needed."

Seraphina leaned into his touch, her eyes searching his. "And what about us? The contract is over. There are no more enemies to fight. No more shadows to hide in. What happens when the world sees that the 'Contracted Husband' is actually the King?"

Xavier pulled her closer, the scent of her jasmine perfume mixing with the salty morning air. "Then let them look," he whispered, his voice thick with a promise that went beyond business. "Let them see that the Lion doesn't just protect the Queen. He loves her
