Chapter 4 - 4

Hello, I'm Eddie Cai. This is my bodyguard. Is Dr. William available? Headquarters sent me here to study with Dr. William." Eddie greeted with a smile, his eyes also brightening. The woman in front of him wasn't breathtakingly beautiful, but she exuded a cool and gentle aura, very pleasant to look at, not like an internet celebrity who becomes annoying after a while.

"Director William is not available right now. I can show you around the lab. There are many defense mechanisms here, so don't wander off. Director William will find you when he has time." Annette nodded and turned to lead the way, her high heels clicking crisply on the floor.

William's lab was quite empty, and certain areas were restricted, seemingly used for human experimentation. William himself was not a good person; nine out of ten researchers at Umbrella had conducted human experiments.

"I heard Dr. William has a deep understanding of the T-Virus. There are even rumors about Dr. William within the corporation, even in the French Branch. I wonder if I could perhaps glance at the doctor's notes?" Eddie began to flatter him. Flattery always works. Anyway, William would be gone in a few months, so he didn't mind these things.

Annette, however, found it quite gratifying. "You're quite clever. My husband is naturally very intelligent. Wait a moment, I'll show you his old T-Virus research notes, but you can't take them!"

There was a problem here that Annette didn't pick up on. To 'glance at' is usually used for the deceased, not the living. Wasn't this clearly cursing her husband to die? She actually didn't notice!

Chapter 6: Covert Dealings with Annette!

It must be said that Dr. William had a terrible temper and immediately gave a show of force. However, the notes he left behind showed a very high level of virology expertise, which was very enlightening for Eddie.

"This William is truly clever, worthy of being Umbrella's top researcher. Amazing, amazing, I've never seen such an algorithm before!" Eddie's muttering to himself while looking at the notes was fully observed by William in the lab.

"How do you plan to deal with this Eddie?" Annette asked.

"No need to deal with him, let him stay. You go and test him again, give him some benefits. This will paralyze Spencer. My G-Virus is in its final stages; I don't have time to deal with him." William said without turning his head. He chose not to tell his wife about defecting to the military.

Annette sighed. Her husband seemed to have become incredibly irritable after Alexia appeared at the Antarctic Research Station. Even though she was already dead, he still held a grudge. During that time, Alexia's intellect truly surpassed his, and her intelligence was beyond doubt.

No matter what, Annette would protect her family, and her daughter, her lovely daughter Sherry Birkin!

LUPO remained by Eddie's side, motionless and deep in thought. In reality, she was recovering her strength. She never expected the seemingly frail Eddie to possess such strong combat power, which was a good thing for her.

No one knew how much time had passed, but Eddie was still looking at William's experimental notes, and he was quickly nearing the end. This was a great help to him; with this knowledge, he would know how to produce a compatible T-Virus.

If there was a chance to get Sergei's serum sample, that would be even better. Most people have a very strong resistance to the T-Virus, and the result is incompatibility, leading to skin rotting, accelerated metabolism, and inability to eat, which means they can only starve to death!

Click, click, click, the crisp sound of high heels tapping on the floor echoed. The lab door opened, and the blonde ponytail Annette appeared again, this time carrying a cup of coffee and placing it on the table. "Tired of looking? Have some coffee and rest."

Eddie nodded, still looking at the book. After finishing it, he returned the experimental notes. "Very good, with many unique insights, it opened up a whole new world for me."

Annette was very proud, feeling honored. "Of course, many researchers want my husband's experimental notes but can't get them. You're very lucky. This coffee isn't spiked; you can drink it with confidence."

"I didn't suspect anything. This is your territory; it's entirely up to you what you think. Haha, just kidding. Is there something you need, Doctor?" Eddie laughed, his half-joking remarks helping to ease the awkward atmosphere.

"Nothing, I was wondering what Spencer's purpose was in sending you here?" Annette asked without hesitation.

"Just to let me learn. The corporation still has many projects to develop. Learning more experience means I might be able to develop a project independently in the future. It's that simple; what were you thinking? Although there's competition between branches, there's no need to be so guarded, right?" Eddie said, feigning ignorance.

Annette frowned. She didn't know if he was telling the truth. "As long as you don't have any ill intentions, I guarantee you can get what you want."

"Don't worry, I have no interest in corporate struggles. I don't know Spencer's purpose in sending me here either; he doesn't trust me much. I'm very interested in the T-Virus right now. If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving; I have things to do." Eddie stood up, picked up the coffee, and took a sip.

"Okay, wait a moment. Take this disk; it contains old experimental data that will be very helpful to you. I told you, as long as you have no ulterior motives, I'll give you what you want." Annette pulled out a disk. The man in front of her seemed easy to handle; all she needed to do was keep him steady and buy her husband enough research time.

"Anything besides the G-Virus?" Eddie suddenly laughed, his smile a bit cunning, like a fox.

Annette frowned. He seemed to have ulterior motives, but it was also reasonable. "That's right, anything, but you can't tell anyone else."

"No problem, I only have needs for things I'm interested in. To be honest, I'm not interested in the G-Virus. Sooner or later, I'll invent a more powerful serum." Eddie nodded and left the lab with LUPO.

Only Annette stood there, frowning. She could sense a hidden meaning in his words, and a chilling coldness that made her feel uneasy. Killing him was impossible; if anything happened to Eddie, Spencer would definitely become wary and might even use force, which would endanger their family. She absolutely couldn't do that.

Back in the lab, William listened to Annette's report and suddenly burst out laughing. "It seems he also has some animosity towards Spencer. Give him whatever he wants, since he's not interested in my G-Virus. Hmph, I don't know if it's true or false, and he wants to surpass me? Dream on! I am the smartest and most powerful biologist! The strongest in Umbrella!"

"You don't suspect him?" Annette voiced her doubts.

William shook his head. "Impossible. Spencer wouldn't trust him. Don't forget, he's a distant relative of Marcus, and Marcus's death has a lot to do with Wesker and me. Just keep him stable during this time, by any means necessary. Don't let him die; Spencer will become suspicious."

"I understand. Does the G-Virus still need my help?" Annette asked.

"No need. Just help me develop the vaccine; it's almost done." Dr. William shook his head, refusing his wife's help. The vaccine needed to be developed first; it was a life-saving antidote.

Returning to the surface, Eddie finally took a breath. LUPO asked curiously, "Are you alright?"

Eddie shook his head. "No, I just find the underground situation too oppressive. The air above ground is much better!"

"What's the big deal? In the past, we often trained in sewers, which were incredibly smelly. That was suffering." LUPO smiled. The training days were the most memorable.

"You'll have plenty of opportunities to show what you can do in the future. After you go back, familiarize yourself with the map of Raccoon City; you'll need it later." Eddie instructed. A mobile unit with decent combat power could accomplish many things.

When the biohazard outbreak happens in Raccoon City, that's when he'll reap the benefits! Fortune favors the bold, and there's also the mysterious Ada Wong, that enigmatic woman, truly intriguing!

Chapter 7: Alex's Reward!

In the Arklay Mountains villa, Eddie was focused in front of the computer. All the equipment was brought by Alex. With Alex's supervision, Eddie could conduct experiments with peace of mind.

Spencer absolutely trusted Alex because she was the person in charge of the Wesker Project and one of the only two remaining Weskers.

He extracted his blood into a culture tube, then added a small amount of T-Virus to see if they would fuse. If the dosage was too large, he would reduce it.

"Even when the serum's toxicity is reduced to the maximum extent, the human body still can't withstand it. Compared to it, it's simply too fragile." Eddie frowned. He finally understood Alexia's troubles.

"That's normal. Otherwise, the Tyrant (Prototype) wouldn't have been officially activated until Sergei arrived!" Alex, wearing a women's suit, turned the pages of a book, appearing very quiet.

"Unless there's a very unique way to slow down the serum's corrosion of the body, and slowly fuse with the serum during this process." Eddie thought of a method that was time-consuming but very effective.

"What method?" Alex looked up, her beautiful eyes sparkling with brilliance. This guy always seemed to bring her surprises.

"Using cryogenic freezing, entering a state of low-temperature suspended animation. If this theoretical method can predict the serum fusion time, then using corresponding instruments for adaptation, that would be perfect." Eddie proposed a method.

Alex's eyes clearly lit up. As a top scientist, she knew this method was truly feasible. Aside from being very time-consuming, it had no other drawbacks. Once the time came, she would undoubtedly reawaken like a superhuman, returning to the world with the power of a god!

"The method you mentioned is indeed feasible. Implementing such a method would require an excellent location. The Arctic and Antarctic are both very good choices!" Alex's eyes grew brighter and brighter. She had a deep obsession with her illness and had to cure it before gaining superhuman strength.

"You're not thinking of using this method to complete the serum fusion, are you? It would take a while!" Eddie said suspiciously.

Alex, however, smiled enchantingly. "I think it's very good, my dear. Are you reluctant to see me go?"

Eddie nodded. "Of course, I'd definitely be reluctant to see you go."

"You're reluctant to see me leave before you've grown strong, aren't you, my dear? You can rest assured, I won't leave before you're ready." Alex smiled. She didn't know why, but she didn't have the usual arrogant superiority towards Eddie; instead, she treated him as a friend.

"When I become stronger, you'll also have the chance to successfully fuse with the serum. Trust me, I'll find a suitable serum and location for you to fuse." Eddie nodded.

"At that time, we can become gods of this world?" Alex yearned for it. Her ultimate goal was to control everything, to control the world, to dictate the fate of the world. This was Spencer's education to her since childhood, an obsession with power!

"No, no, we're not meant to become gods. Ruling this world has no benefits whatsoever. As long as we can achieve immortality, that's enough!" Eddie said solemnly. He certainly didn't want his wife to become a madwoman preparing to start a world war; that wouldn't be fun.

"Then what should we do? You don't really think carbon-based life can be immortal, do you?" A hint of doubt flashed in Alex's beautiful eyes.
