Chapter 78 - 78

"You really are problematic! Alex told me that Alfred, another founder of Umbrella and the current head of the Ashford Family, conspired with William Birkin and Albert Wesker to kill my uncle because he didn't want my uncle to gain control of Umbrella! And what are you hiding? You are indeed disloyal to Uncle Spencer, hehe, I caught you!" Eddie sneered.

He was deliberately lying. He knew everything, yet he dragged Alfred, who no longer held much power, into it. His aim was to muddy the waters and provoke Sergei, letting him know that he was already controlled by Alex.

Alex was Spencer's trusted confidante, one of the two survivors of the Wesker Project, and treated by Spencer like a daughter. Eddie siding with Alex could largely help him avoid being targeted by Sergei.

"Hmph! This general has always been loyal to the chairman, who do you think you are! Little rascal, take this punch!" Sergei roared in anger. There was no way he would betray Spencer; loyalty was the primary quality of a general!

Sergei's angry punch, despite the twenty-meter distance, took only one second, breaking through human speed limits. The fist grew larger and larger in front of Eddie's eyes, so fast that even Eddie's enhanced vision couldn't track it.

Bang! At the critical moment, Jessica steadily caught Sergei's fist, not even taking a step back. Her calm, beautiful eyes turned incredibly cold. "If you dare hurt him! I'll kill you!"

Bang! This time, Sergei was sent flying! Sent flying by a woman, without even a chance to retaliate. The two-hundred-pound polar bear-like strongman was sent flying by the seemingly ordinary Jessica!

Chapter 126: Karena's Serum Side Effects

Sergei never expected this situation; he was actually sent flying, and by a woman who didn't look very strong!

Screech! Sergei quickly adjusted his stance, his leather shoes leaving a scuff mark on the ground before he stopped. "Very good strength, where did you find such a bodyguard? Hmph, defeat me, and I won't pursue your transgression."

Under Eddie's redirection of fire, Sergei didn't doubt Eddie's words. Sergei was well aware of Alex's charisma; she was one of the few people he admired, an acknowledgment of her work capability, not her so-called beauty, as Sergei, being a eunuch, wasn't interested in women.

Moreover, since Eddie said the killers were William and Wesker, and didn't involve Spencer, Sergei didn't pursue it further. As long as Spencer was safe, other personnel could be sacrificed.

"Jessica, defeat him!" Eddie commanded indifferently, also wanting to test Jessica's combat prowess. Svetlana and Wolf Mother both spoke highly of her.

It was unimaginable to see a Tyrant with superhuman strength using martial arts, and now there was a chance to witness it!

Meanwhile, Svetlana and Wolf Mother Karena each took on an Ivan-type Tyrant. With their strength, winning against the Tyrants wasn't difficult, but it wasn't particularly easy either.

After receiving the order, Jessica's beautiful eyes turned icy cold, as if she had transformed from a human into a killing machine. With a quick step, her boot stomped on the ground, and she rushed in front of Sergei in less than a second.

She raised her seemingly harmless pink fists, moving so fast that Sergei couldn't even react. After a continuous barrage of punches and whip kicks, Sergei was constantly forced back, as if his bones were being shattered.

"Very good strength, hehe, then let me have some fun." Sergei felt that his opponent was even more difficult to deal with than Marcus. Marcus was, at most, a form synthesized by the Leech Queen; essentially, he was still a monster!

Jessica adopted a professional fighting stance, clenching her fists. While Sergei was still speaking, she charged forward again. Following Svetlana's teaching, she used six-tenths of her strength against the enemy, and once the enemy got used to it, she would suddenly unleash the remaining strength for a fatal blow.

Sergei was incredibly disheveled. He had never seen such a powerful woman, capable of overpowering him. Moreover, with his soldier's intuition, the opponent seemed to not be using her full strength!

As a frequent visitor to battlefields, a veteran who had escaped from the jaws of death, Sergei was very familiar with the opponent's moves, and at the same time, he was cautiously vigilant. If he was hit, he could very likely be injured.

"How about it? I told you the bodyguard Alex gave me is this powerful! Haha!" Eddie laughed triumphantly. He attributed everything, all research and inventions, to his girlfriend Alex. With Alex's intelligence, she was more than capable of convincing anyone.

A hint of surprise flashed in Sergei's eyes, and at the same time, he felt annoyed; he had been surpassed! There could actually be products within Umbrella that surpassed him! This made him not only annoyed but also crave power.

On the other side, Svetlana fought against an Ivan-type Tyrant wearing tactical goggles. After gradually familiarizing herself with the Tyrant's attack patterns, Svetlana handled it very easily. Even if the Tyrant occasionally changed its attack methods, she could react quickly. Fighting an opponent stronger than herself and using skill to toy with them was undoubtedly very exhilarating.

Wolf Mother's fighting style was more expansive and direct. She would occasionally clash fists with the Tyrant, and even if her strength was somewhat lacking, she could compensate with skill. This kind of exhilarating combat, which couldn't be enjoyed in practice, allowed her to fight without any inhibitions, doing whatever felt most satisfying!

Eddie was also collecting data, gaining a greater understanding of Sergei's combat power. At least, if it came to a real fight, he wouldn't be without a chance to retaliate.

The battle lasted only ten minutes. In the end, Jessica was pushed back a few steps by Sergei. "Enough. Hmph, I will personally report your matter to the chairman. Don't get too smug!"

"Jessica, come back!" Eddie also gave an order. Since the other party didn't want to fight, he was happy to stop. There was no gain in forcibly fighting such a person.

Sergei quickly left. He still had his second form that he hadn't transformed into, and he wasn't sure what he would look like, but once mutated, it would be very difficult to change back, though not impossible.

The fight had broken quite a bit of laboratory equipment. It would have to be tidied up again, which was annoying. No wonder it was always best to fight on someone else's territory; you wouldn't feel bad if things got broken.

"Are you two alright?" Eddie turned to ask.

Svetlana shook her head, "No, his Tyrant bodyguards seem to be computer-controlled. They actively learn and change attack directions, much more intelligent than what we saw in the research facility."

"That kind of fight is exhilarating!" Wolf Mother clenched her fists, letting out a series of bell-like laughs.

"Good, then. Tidy up, and you two rest. We still have other things to do." Eddie nodded, then began to check the data he had just collected.

The computer contained data on the completed Tyrant 03, which was the prototype for the Ivan-type Tyrant and also the prototype for Nemesis. It was first developed by the France research branch, and after adding the Alpha Parasite, four Nemesis prototypes were created. Only one of them was usable and was sent to Raccoon City.

As Umbrella's top research facility, most of Raccoon City's resources were concentrated on the development of the G-Virus, while research on the T-Virus was relatively slow, which is why it was surpassed by the European branch. The G-Virus was a very time-consuming project, and the real profits were still a long way off.

"How long will that woman's modification take?" Wolf Mother Karena suddenly walked over and asked.

"It should take two or three days. This is just an estimate; if her unique phagocytic cells take effect, the time might be shorter. What's wrong, Karena? You look like something's bothering you." Eddie asked, not doubting Wolf Mother.

"Of course something's wrong! The other side effect of the serum has kicked in, and only you can help me. Let's go!" Wolf Mother Karena finished speaking and pushed Eddie into the adjacent resting room.

The serum did have side effects, but Svetlana could control them. She just needed to eat more afterwards to replenish her nutrition.

Chapter 127: Facing the Weak, I Strike Hard

The bar in Raccoon City was just opening for the night. Eddie came here alone, called by the freelance journalist Alyssa. He was originally supposed to go to her apartment, but when he answered the phone, Svetlana and Wolf Mother were both present. Under the threatening gazes of the two older female bodyguards, he had to change the location to the bar.

Wolf Mother and the others stayed in the laboratory to watch over Lisa, and they all knew the basic operating procedures, as well as the identification and access cards Eddie had left for them.

"Hi, Eddie, long time no see. How have you been lately?" The beautiful waitress Cindy walked over with a sweet smile. Her constant smile always brightened people's moods.

Eddie said apologetically, "I'm so sorry, Cindy, I haven't been able to find your friend. I've been looking for a long time, I'm sorry."

Cindy shook her head and smiled understandingly, "It's alright, Eddie, you've done very well. You paid such a heavy price to eliminate those cultists gathered in the Arklay Mountains, I should be thanking you."

"Your words make me feel a bit ashamed. By the way, have you seen Alyssa? She called me to discuss something, but she's disappeared herself." Eddie looked around but didn't see anyone else, only a few employees from Umbrella's subsidiary companies drinking.

With over a hundred thousand people in Raccoon City, more than half of the residents worked for Umbrella's subsidiaries, so this was not surprising. Moreover, the police force alone had reached nearly nine thousand personnel, all thanks to Umbrella's investment.

This was quite exaggerated; almost one in ten people was a police officer. How exaggerated was this? It was unknown if it was to cover up some of Umbrella's crimes, and it was also unknown how many people had been bribed.

Cindy thought for a moment, "Recently, I heard there have been some outsiders who heard there were opportunities to get rich in Raccoon City. With more outsiders, the city has become a bit chaotic and not very peaceful lately. Perhaps something delayed her."

Eddie felt a bit suspicious about this. He had no memory of this event in his impression. He only knew that Alyssa and the beautiful bar hostess Cindy were among the few survivors; he knew nothing about anyone else.

"Then I'll go look for her, Cindy, here, your tip!" Eddie generously gave her five hundred dollars.

"Ah! That's too much, that's way too much." Cindy exclaimed. Waiters always received tips; it was a special culture, a way for rich people to show off, and it could also be used for fishing! It just depended on which mermaid would take the bait.

"It's fine, you deserve this tip. I'm leaving now, see you later." Eddie waved his hand and quickly walked out of the bar.

Following the road to Alyssa's apartment, just as he reached an alley, he saw Alyssa also walking towards him. However, several homeless men immediately surrounded her, seemingly with ill intentions.

"Hey girl, if you know what's good for you, hand over all your money, otherwise you might suffer some unpleasant treatment!" A large thug sneered, seemingly hinting at something.

An ordinary woman would have already pulled out her money and wouldn't have chosen to take a shortcut through an alley. Alyssa, however, was different; she wasn't afraid of these dark forces at all. She calmly pulled out a bottle of pepper spray from her backpack and gave the leading thug a pepper spray package!

Screech! "Ah!" The large thug immediately squatted down, covering his eyes. The pepper spray getting into his eyes was not a good thing.

Alyssa threw the pepper spray at the other four men, then turned and ran, handling the situation very cleverly.
