Cherreads

Chapter 81 - 81

Ada tasted the coffee she brewed, and the flavor was quite good. "The largest family in the Federation, and also the organization that controls the Western Federation. Their leader is currently the Security Advisor, Derek Simmons! He commissioned me to retrieve the complete T-Virus, as well as the vaccine and combat data. If there's any G-Virus, that would be even better."

After Ada finished speaking, she glanced at the man who was drinking coffee with his head down. She had a premonition that she could complete the mission, but the process wouldn't be easy.

Eddie was very surprised that Ada would reveal her employer. As a spy, shouldn't she keep it a secret? "Why tell the truth?"

"Didn't you say it? We're friends, aren't we? Loyalty to friends has always been what I should do, even if you are my only friend." Ada's expression was a smile, with a hint of teasing.

"Boyfriend?" Eddie teased back.

"What do you think?" Ada raised an eyebrow, as if about to get angry.

"No more jokes. Getting the G-Virus is very difficult. William has already gathered most of the research staff at The Hive Laboratory under the Arklay Mountains. He has transferred all research results. If you truly want the G-Virus, I'm afraid it will be extremely difficult." Eddie shook his head, analyzing seriously.

"You definitely have a way, right? My dear friend?" Ada asked with a smile.

Wolf Mom Luper seemed to be very hostile towards Ada. As an elite warrior, she disliked spies who used their looks to gain information.

Although Ada was beautiful and charming, she was one of the few women who didn't need to rely on her looks to get information and items. Among many spies, she was considered one of the rare strong women.

"Not many options, I still need to think about it. Do you know? Many people are now stare William's G-Virus progress. It's very difficult to snatch the G-Virus from so many forces." Eddie spoke nonsense. Annette had already given him the G-Virus, data, and samples when she joined the team.

It's just that the current G-Virus doesn't have much effect, especially its side effect of turning into a multi-eyed monster, which Eddie finds difficult to accept. And after removing this characteristic, the G-Virus completely loses its effect, becoming even inferior to the T-Virus.

"So you do have a way?" Ada keenly caught the man's slip of the tongue.

"We'll see. It will take time anyway. What needs to be done now is to wait. And if you're not in a hurry, you can play around in Raccoon City." Eddie chuckled. Of course, the item had to appear very difficult to obtain, so that Ada would know it wasn't easy to acquire. To conquer a queen, one must be prepared to be charmed by Ada. This is a game!

"Since you said so, I'll have a good time in Raccoon City." Ada didn't refuse; it was a good opportunity to rest.

Meanwhile, Svetlana, who had been sitting on the sofa reading a magazine, frowned. She had a feeling that the woman in front of her was not easy to deal with, and it seemed like they would become enemies. This feeling was a bit absurd.

"What experiment are you doing?" Ada asked, looking at the woman in the solution freezing chamber. Was this another enhancement for that woman?

Eddie recounted Lisa's experience to Ada, clearly explaining Spencer's conspiracy and cruelty.

Ada frowned continuously after hearing this. As a spy, she shouldn't have too much sympathy. Only a calm mind could allow her to handle everything calmly. "So you saved them? What about the architect?"

"Starved to death. I saw it in a research record in the Mansion. Spencer cruelly starved him to death to keep the secret. Spencer is difficult to deal with. He is an old fox." Eddie's eyes became solemn. The opponent was an aristocratic old fox who had spanned nearly half a century and was not easy to outwit.

"Umbrella has dealings with the Western Federation and cooperates with most regions. Spencer also collaborates with the Simmons Family. They are both partners and competitors. At the same time, Spencer also has spies in the Travis Family." Ada suddenly dropped a big piece of news.

Eddie didn't doubt this, but was only a little surprised by Spencer's abilities. How many backup plans did that old fox have? His whereabouts were extremely elusive; even Wesker spent ten years finding him.

"Honestly, I'm not surprised at all. If Umbrella can build such massive underground facilities and laboratories, and also assemble private armed forces comparable to special forces, and the Federation doesn't know, then the FBI agents must all be idiots and the higher-ups morons." Eddie sneered.

Ada opened the computer and began browsing Umbrella's data using Eddie's authority. She seemed completely at ease, having a very strange feeling, a sense of family, without feeling constrained. "What about you, what are your plans?"

"First, see how Lisa's rescue experiment goes, then continue researching the next enhancement plan." Eddie's idea was always to find the opportunity for the next evolution. To continue evolving, the serum must be improved.

While Ada was browsing Umbrella's data, Eddie was also browsing data, but he was using his girlfriend Alex's authority.

Alex's authority level was very high, on the same level as Sergei. Sergei was responsible for external affairs and military power, eliminating all of Umbrella's enemies. Alex, on the other hand, was internal, researching a serum that could grant immortality.

"January Sant, female, arrested by the mobile unit for investigating evidence of a transaction between the company and Chief Brian of Raccoon City. Currently detained in The Hive Laboratory, awaiting T-Phobos mutation experiment testing!"

"Becca Woollett, female, Raccoon City suburban forest, outstanding forest conservationist, possesses extraordinary vegetation design abilities, can provide great help in planting medicinal materials. Witnessed a case of rabid dogs attacking tourists due to a serum leak, and brought back to the laboratory, awaiting T-Phobos mutation experiment testing!"

Two consecutive pieces of information caught Eddie's attention, and both women were his mission targets. January was the person the freelance journalist Alyssa asked him to find, and Becca was the person the beautiful waitress Cindy asked him to find. He never expected them both to be kidnapped to the underground laboratory!

Chapter 132: William's Inevitable Abandonment

"Why are these two women here?" Eddie felt very strange, and there was another point: Alex was only researching a new virus that hadn't been officially named yet. Spencer had given her the original sample to develop.

"Is this the T-Phobos research plan?" Eddie muttered to himself. He understood very well that this so-called T-Phobos was the immortality virus Spencer wanted to obtain, but it was intercepted by Alex, who then achieved her own form of immortality in a certain sense.

"What T-Phobos?" Ada suddenly leaned over, like a kitten smelling fish. As a spy, her business acumen was always very high.

"Nothing, I just saw a document. As I said, Spencer's thoughts are very difficult to fathom. No one knows what his ultimate goal is. If you're short on money, you can work for me, and I won't treat you unfairly." Eddie still extended an olive branch.

"Cooperation is fine, but as for working for you, I don't want to be permanently fixed yet. When I get tired, I might find a place to rest." Ada shook her head.

"Heh, looking for an honest man? How shameless!" Wolf Mom Luper was displeased. What did she think her place was?

"What does my business with you, Eddie, have to do with you?" Ada's expression was also not good. She just hadn't thought it through yet. Eddie's conditions were very good, but she still needed to observe further. It was a major life decision, and she wouldn't be so hasty.

"Alright, let's each say one less word. Karena, you don't need to be so agitated." Eddie rubbed his head, a bit troubled. These women really might start fighting upon meeting. If he ever encountered Alex and Alexia in the future, wouldn't they blow the roof off? The thought alone was terrifying!

Eddie continued to browse the file named 'Resistance Plan.' This plan was to find suitable individuals, and after injecting them with the mutating serum under development, let them escape. During their escape, their fusion reaction with the serum would be tested, to see if they could mutate or gain some powerful abilities.

This was essentially the precursor to the Phobos virus! Experiment subjects for testing. How could that old man Spencer come up with such a crazy testing method!

The nature conservationist Becca was a very fashionable woman, with blonde hair and blue eyes, a typical European and American beauty. In the surveillance, she seemed to be doing well, confined in a small room that only provided rest. It seemed this plan had to ensure the experimental subjects were in good condition for testing. No one dared to play any tricks; any bold ideas would be met with the full penalty!

In another surveillance camera, there was a woman wearing a tight leather outfit with a trench coat vest, and short golden hair covering her right eye. She was also a typical Caucasian, silently sitting in a chair, deep in thought. She seemed to be January, the computer hacker Alyssa had asked him to find!

"What are you looking at these two women for?" Ada couldn't help but ask curiously. She was incredibly curious about everything concerning Eddie. This man had silently established a pharmaceutical company. What exactly did he want to do? Benefit the common people? That kind of nonsense was for deceiving the public and reporters. Ada didn't believe a single punctuation mark of it.

"Someone commissioned me to find them, and they are also very helpful to me. See if I can recruit them to join. The future will definitely be the internet era, and having a highly skilled hacker is very helpful to us!" Eddie's eyes gleamed with wisdom.

In Umbrella's high-level video conference, Spencer appeared again. This time, there were two discussion topics. One was about the follow-up investigation of the Mansion incident. There must have been company employees who took the opportunity to sell important research data, and Spencer chose to conceal Marcus's matter. Marcus's fate would be endless research, being researched by others!

The other issue was whether William could become an executive director based on the G-Virus.

"Gentlemen, the company's intelligence department has found the traitor. It's hard to believe that someone within our ranks would betray the company's research intelligence and sell it to our competitors. This is intolerable." Spencer's voice was calm, a calmness that made people tremble.

"For those who betray the company, I suggest severe punishment!" A fat man sternly rebuked, seemingly having another identity.

"Then remove Morpheus Duval, the head of the Atlantic Ocean research branch, and also implement a cleansing plan on the island..." Spencer didn't hesitate at all and directly issued the order.

And all the directors expressed their agreement. For selling the company's confidential information, there was no other way out except death. The so-called cleansing plan was essentially murder to silence witnesses.

The first matter that needed a resolution passed the vote unanimously, progressing unexpectedly smoothly.

"Next, William intends to be promoted to Umbrella's executive director. In the future, he will have the right to propose and vote on company decisions. As a condition, he must submit the G-Virus research." Spencer continued to explain the second matter.

Some directors bowed their heads in silence or whispered, and due to the video conference, it was unclear who they were speaking to.

"No, the board of directors already has enough people. We can give him monetary rewards, anything he wants, except this. Didn't his wife die because of the investigation team? Then let him marry a noble lady!" Another seemingly thin director sneered.

The result of the discussion was a unanimous rejection of William's promotion to executive director, refusing to let him transition from an employee to a boss.

Eddie was unaware of these matters. Alex was still in deep sleep for her transformation, so she couldn't call him. Furthermore, these two matters had no bearing on his interests, and the butler Stewart also didn't remind him.

Another day passed, and the solution had been fully absorbed by Lisa. Rapid metabolism coupled with ample nutritional supplements, Lisa began her final metamorphosis under her own phagocytic cells.

The thick dead skin almost formed a cocoon-like sphere. Inside the cocoon, even Eddie didn't know the extent of Lisa's repair.

Ada was still observing keenly, full of spirit. She was very curious, what exactly was hidden in this mysterious experiment? And Eddie didn't ask her to leave; instead, he generously allowed her to observe, which made her even more curious. Asking yielded no answers, so it was better to wait quietly.
