Chapter 101 - 101

Chapter 166: Hero Saves Beauty, Treats to Dinner

As the helicopter attacked, the immense power of its machine gun was incomparable to a submachine gun. Thick vines were severed one after another.

Finally, a core resembling an eyeball appeared, hidden within a bud and protected by a layer of plant carapace.

Leon threw the herbicide with all his might, and it landed perfectly in a cracked crevice.

As the herbicide seeped into the ground and was absorbed by the plant, the hard carapace, which even the helicopter's machine gun couldn't break, began to open.

Moira once again hoisted the rocket launcher, loaded a shell, and, with her beautiful eyes focused, aimed at the plant's eyeball-like core that had now appeared.

Her slender finger pressed the trigger, pulling it with force.

Whoosh! A shell with a tail flame flew out, accurately striking the plant's eyeball.

Boom! A massive explosion erupted, and the plant, which had been standing firm moments before, began to rapidly wither.

It was as if a zombie's heart had been destroyed, completely losing all its power.

When the entire plant collapsed, the ground even shook.

Such a terrifying giant plant, with enough power to turn a car into pulp, was finally dealt with after a heavy price was paid.

"Oh! That was so cool!" Moira dropped the rocket launcher, gave herself a thumbs-up, and looked towards Eddie, seemingly wanting her old friend to praise her.

Unexpectedly, Eddie quickly ran over, pulled Moira, and jumped backward.

The plant weapon, using its last ounce of strength, lifted a vine and slammed it fiercely in Moira's direction.

Thump! The hard concrete floor, reinforced with asphalt, was incredibly tough, yet the vine left cracks in it.

If that force had hit Moira, she would have instantly perished!

Moira felt a shiver of fear after seeing it. "You saved me again!"

"It's okay to show off, but make sure you're safe first.

These things are all very bizarre; you'd best be careful.

Sometimes, unfamiliarity can lead to death!" Eddie nodded.

Now that it was handled, the next step was to clean up the aftermath, which would be left to the agents.

"I have to treat you to a meal then, hehe.

Dad was right; you really are reliable," Moira said with a laugh.

"Barry, that old man, wouldn't say good things about me," Eddie shook his head.

Did Barry guard against him like a wolf? Was he really that scary?

"Hehe, you guessed right.

But Dad told me to ask you for help if I ever needed anything.

You seem like a good person," Moira giggled.

"I'm not a good person; don't misunderstand.

You're the good person, your whole family is good people!" Eddie waved his hand, dismissing that nonsense.

Moira's expression was strange. "Why don't you want to be a good person?"

"You know what? When a girl rejects a guy's confession, she usually says, 'You're a good person, but we're not suitable.' That's giving a 'good person card,' so good people are useless.

I'd rather be a bad person," Eddie explained earnestly.

Pfft! Moira burst out laughing. "Haha, you really are interesting.

Alright, you're a bad person, not a good person.

Are you satisfied now?"

"Alright, that's a wrap.

We're off work.

Time's up; I'm leaving this to you all," Eddie said to Marvin, checking his phone.

"Aren't you going to take some samples back?" Marvin asked.

"I've already got them.

If there are any casualties, treat them promptly.

Alright, I'm off work," Eddie pointed to his backpack.

This backpack was carried by Lisa.

A bodyguard who doesn't carry things? Is that a bodyguard?

Someone who can fight, endure, and even warm the bed—is there a better bodyguard than that?

"Wait, I'm treating you to dinner.

Uncle Marvin, I'm leaving now.

My mission is complete," Moira greeted cheerfully.

"Alright, be careful," Marvin shook his head.

He had a good relationship with Barry, so naturally, he had to look after Barry's daughter.

Anyway, it wasn't a big deal, so he let her go.

Leaving the Waste Disposal Plant, Eddie got into his SUV.

He originally preferred sports cars, but Lisa and Jessica were too tall, so only an SUV could barely accommodate them.

"Looks like I need to buy a new car; this one isn't big enough anymore."

"You could buy a bigger SUV business van.

You're not short on money anyway, hehe.

Those medicines you invented are quite interesting, but ordinary people don't really need them," Moira said with a smile.

"Generally speaking, it's better not to need medicine; that means you're healthy.

You're treating us to dinner, so you'll probably spend a lot.

We eat a lot!" Eddie chuckled.

"I'll call Emma and ask her to come along," Moira picked up her phone and dialed.

As good friends, they naturally had to be together.

The dinner spot was a fast-food restaurant, serving burgers, fries, and the like; Western restaurants were too expensive.

But when they actually started eating, Moira was stunned because they almost ate through an entire burger shop's inventory and it still wasn't enough.

The servers looked at them like monsters, making her feel a bit awkward.

If one wasn't enough, they went to another.

After visiting three shops, they finally felt full.

However, Moira didn't pay; Eddie didn't care about the money and paid himself, figuring he'd get it back with interest someday.

"Did you two never eat in your past lives?

Also, Emma, when did you become such a big eater?" Moira's expression was strange; she barely recognized her friend.

"Being able to eat is a blessing, hahaha.

I have something else to do, so I'm heading back.

Are you two going anywhere? I can give you a ride," Eddie said with a laugh.

"No need; you go back first.

I have a car.

I'll give Moira a ride back later," Emma said with a sweet smile, waving her hand.

They were all close, so she wouldn't be polite, and she knew his car couldn't fit them, so why force it?

After Eddie left, Emma tilted her head. "Let's go.

Get in; it's my new SUV."

"You're rich!" Moira said, looking at the brand-new interior after getting in.

"This must have cost a fortune.

Where did you get the money? You didn't rob a bank, did you? Oh my god, it's actually possible; this is so awesome!"

Emma shook her head, smiling a little happily. "No, I was hired by Eddie to help him design weapons.

He's very rich, isn't he? So I agreed.

This is his advance payment, which I used to buy a car to make things more convenient."

Chapter 167: Jill Returns, Beautiful Beyond Words

Emma was a bit flustered. "Moira, you're really overthinking things.

He hired me because I can design the weapons he wants.

Of course, if it weren't for Jill, I wouldn't have agreed.

I don't want to work with someone I'm not familiar with, even if the pay is high."

"Hehe, it seems you've been swayed!

By the way, I wanted to ask you, why do you eat so much?

You used to say you wanted to lose weight!" Moira tilted her head, asking curiously.

"What are you talking about? I eat a lot because I can eat it.

If you want to know more, why don't you ask Eddie?

There are some things I can't say," Emma shook her head.

She would keep this secret forever, unless Moira also joined.

But subconsciously, Emma didn't want her friend to join; it wasn't a good thing, at least not for her.

"Alright, I'll find a chance to ask him then," Moira's curiosity grew stronger.

She was genuinely curious.

And she had observed that in some occasional instances, her friend had shown unique qualities.

It was a woman's intuition; there definitely was something going on.

When Eddie hummed a tune and returned to his apartment, he was met with a pleasant surprise because Jill, whom he hadn't seen in a long time, was waiting in the apartment.

Standing by the window, looking at Raccoon City, with the breeze blowing through her hair, she was still beautiful beyond words!

"My dear, long time no see!" Jill turned around and smiled, her expression radiant—still the goddess!

"Long time no see, my dear!

Was your journey tiring? Do you need some rest?" Eddie smiled.

He didn't ask Jill why she returned; it was obvious she just wanted to see him.

"I'm fine; I recover very quickly, and everything is good.

Raccoon City seems a bit restless.

Has anything happened recently?" Jill asked curiously.

"Nothing, just some monsters got out.

How is Annette doing?" Eddie suddenly asked.

"She's very safe; the cruise ship has been refitted.

Annette is ordering some equipment from Excella; she says she's really looking forward to the supercomputer you mentioned," Jill smiled sweetly.

"That's good.

I can't leave yet, but it's almost time.

If Umbrella is too preoccupied, it will be hard for them to notice me," Eddie looked out the window.

If he could, he wanted to leave sooner.

Staying in this city that would turn into hell, no matter how strong he was, he couldn't withstand the endless tide of zombies.

"It's alright; I'll always be by your side," Jill nodded.

"Annette examined me, and I'm fine now.

I can fight normally, everything is good, and the baby will be safe too."

Without saying it, Eddie had forgotten.

He just remembered that Jill was carrying his child.

"Just be careful.

We'll be fine.

To find the supercomputer, we need to go to Umbrella's underground laboratory and take a train from there to the underground Hive," Eddie frowned.

It certainly wouldn't be a smooth journey.

"Have you considered what if the train breaks down?

We'd still need a simple means of transport, otherwise, transportation will be very difficult," Jill said.

The underground train might be damaged in an accident, and they would indeed need some tools to return.

Even if they had been enhanced, carrying a supercomputer for dozens of kilometers would be quite challenging.

Moreover, the supercomputer's main server is very fragile; the connections between memory modules and crystals cannot withstand long periods of vibration.

They still needed a mode of transportation.

How could they commit robbery without a car!

"That's true; I hadn't considered that.

Let me think," Eddie slapped his forehead.

If Jill hadn't mentioned it, he probably would have forgotten.

"No worries, leave it to me.

I'll go find Emma.

She's a genius.

If I just tell her my idea, she can create a simple, portable tool," Jill smiled.

"Alright, I'll leave it to you," Eddie nodded.

It was great to have a wife; she would manage everything perfectly for him.

In fact, his room was always tidied by Katherine, the mayor's daughter.

When someone helps, why do it yourself?

Deep beneath Raccoon City, at the Umbrella research facility, a large number of Hunters were delivered today.

And a Nemesis Project Tyrant, previously undergoing modification tests here, was also sent out.

No one knew where it was sent, only that the most elite armed squad was tasked with its transport.

Daniel returned to his laboratory, picked up the phone, and dialed.

After a long pause, the call was answered. "I need to speak to the Chairman; it's about news of the G-Virus."

"Alright, please hold," replied Patrick, the butler who answered the phone.
