Chapter 114 - 114

Chapter 189: Bar Escape

The other customers in the bar were all scared and retreated when they saw this scene. Such a situation had never happened before; there hadn't been a large-scale attack on a bar by cultists and thugs.

Jessica and Lisa didn't come along, otherwise there would be no need to worry about these zombies, even if there were Raging Zombies, they wouldn't be a match for the two girls. Considering the continuous combat, Eddie arranged for Christine Yamata and Michella to check on them to ensure no problems would arise, which is why they didn't follow.

"There's a back door; we can leave from the back," Cindy said, pointing towards the kitchen.

Suddenly, a bloody figure scrambled out, "Many cultists have suddenly appeared at the back door; they're eating people! Chef Anru was eaten by them, it's terrifying, they're coming!"

Bang! A zombie that walked out was immediately shot dead by Jill. Following that, more zombies started emerging from the kitchen door.

Everyone kept firing, but there were too many zombies to clear them out immediately.

"Are there other ways?" Eddie asked, breaking a zombie's neck with a spinning kick.

"Yes, on the rooftop. We can go up to the rooftop and jump to the rooftops of other buildings, then go to the pedestrian overpass. We have a temporary safe house set up there," Kevin said, pointing upstairs in the bar.

Bang! At this moment, the glass outside the bar had been shattered, and many zombies were already pouring in through the windows. Even though they were cut and bruised by the broken glass, they still roared and pounced on any living person.

"Bobby, hold on, I'll carry you." Uncle Mark started carrying his friend upstairs.

Unexpectedly, Bobby pushed his friend away and grabbed his sidearm. "You go, Mark, you go. I know I'm beyond saving. I'm about to become one of those terrifying man-eating lunatics. I'm an old soldier, I have a warrior's dignity. I'd rather die peacefully than become one of those ugly monsters."

"Bobby!" Mark was about to speak and persuade him when he heard a gunshot!

Bang! Bobby, who was critically ill, picked up the pistol and shot himself in the head, defending his dignity with death, preferring to die rather than become a zombie and harm others.

Eddie watched in silence. This was not a game or a dream, but a real-life experience. Although there were no so-called flying superheroes in Raccoon City, there were still some small figures with integrity.

After a moment of emotion, Eddie didn't have the idea of saving the entire city. To save it, the best way was to break and then rebuild. These were things the Senator needed to consider, not something a commoner like him should worry about.

Uncle Mark walked to his friend's side and picked up his sidearm. "If I get the chance, I'll find the killer and avenge you."

"No time for sentiment. Let's get out of here first. There are too many zombies. Let's go to the quarantine point. I suspect this place is already out of control." Eddie kicked a zombie away.

"Kevin, you all go up first. I'll cover the rear. Jill, you go up too. Trust me, Rebecca, you too," Eddie continued to instruct.

Kevin led the way. The second floor was also a drinking area of the bar, with small private rooms for friends and family gatherings. There were also many zombies here. He and Leon worked together to kill the zombies.

"The door is locked!" Leon tried to open the door but failed. This seemed to be an employee's room door.

"This leads to the staff lounge and storage room, and above is the office. I don't have the key either. You can try kicking the door open," Cindy also came up to the second floor.

Leon nodded and kicked the door open with force. Just then, a zombie lunged out, its ferocious teeth aiming for his neck.

At the critical moment, Enrico shot the zombie dead. "Be careful, these monsters always like to hide in dark corners and ambush people."

Leon nodded, still a bit scared. Working in Raccoon City was really fulfilling, explosively fulfilling. "Thanks, Captain."

Thump! Thump! Thump! A huge noise came from downstairs, as if something was heavily crashing. Without anyone watching, Eddie didn't hold back, directly delivering several martial arts spinning kicks, sending zombies flying.

The flying zombies would also knock down a large number of other zombies, acting like human cannonballs.

Crack! He grabbed a zombie's jaw with his right hand and twisted it forcefully to the left, easily snapping its neck and completely eliminating these neither-human-nor-ghost things.

Seeing that everyone had retreated, Eddie took a fire axe from the emergency fire device nearby. He forcefully chopped down the wooden stairs to prevent zombies from rushing up.

Kevin and Leon, who were leading the way, forcefully kicked open doors. The doors here were either made of light aluminum alloy or wood, making them very easy to open. Even without a key, they could pass through. The misery of searching for keys to solve puzzles? That didn't exist.

Cindy was a bit flustered at first. Before, she was just a carefree bar waitress, and now she had to fight zombies. Fortunately, with the T-Virus boost, otherwise she probably wouldn't even be able to hold a dagger steady.

The group arrived on the rooftop, closing the door behind them, seemingly having escaped a disaster. Some customers seemed to collapse on the ground, panting.

"Sir, please do not come any closer. If you hear my words, please raise your hands, otherwise we will treat you as a rioter and shoot you," Leon said, raising his gun and shouting at the three people slowly walking towards them on the rooftop.

"No need to doubt, they are zombies!" Enrico said, then fired three continuous shots, blowing off the heads of the three zombies.

"Alright, the situation is very serious now. This kind of situation has erupted almost instantly in the north. We need to go to Annadale Street to help set up bombs. The situation is very urgent, we don't have time to stay," Kevin said, ejecting his pistol magazine to reload.

"Let's go first. Let's see what's happening over there. This is not a place to stay," Eddie said, coming up from behind.

"We should take these survivors with us. There's a temporary safe house nearby, it's relatively safe, a place for residents to temporarily stay to avoid attacks," Leon said, looking at the more than twenty surviving bar customers behind him. An agent's mission is to protect the lives of citizens.

"That's right! You must take us! Damn it, we're taxpayers! You have a responsibility to protect us!" a man in a suit shouted, looking very obnoxious.

Chapter 190: Arrogant Posturing Can Lead to Death

"We will ensure your safety, sir, please calm down," Kevin said, frowning. His personality was casual, but that didn't mean he liked being morally blackmailed.

"I don't care, I'm not leaving. You must find a helicopter to take me out, otherwise I'll sue you! Damn it, let those cultists destroy everything here, damn it, you all deserve to die!" The man in the suit kept cursing, seemingly making a big deal out of nothing, perhaps his wife ran off with someone else, or he got fired.

Eddie didn't care. He wouldn't be morally blackmailed. If the other party had politely begged him, he might have considered it. But with such a condescending attitude, what did he take him for?

A figure stood up unsteadily. It was a young man who slowly walked behind the man in the suit who was cursing enthusiastically. As if smelling fresh meat, he directly bit down on the man's carotid artery.

"Ah!" The man in the suit screamed and struggled, but more and more customers around him were mutating, as if infected, and all gathered to bite and devour him.

The time from a normal person to a zombie seemed very short. The T-Virus must have mutated during its spread, becoming even more potent!

"Damn it!" Kevin had no choice but to pick up his pistol and shoot dead the bar customers who were biting the man in the suit. The customers who had turned into zombies had no rationality; their consciousness was almost gone.

Many more zombies pounced on the living. Jill directly grabbed an opponent's jaw, gave a forceful swing, and rotated the zombie's head 180 degrees—a guillotine!

Of the more than ten customers, almost none were alive. They had either mutated or been bitten to death. Even after escaping to the rooftop, they couldn't escape their fate of death.

Eddie patted Jill's shoulder and gave her a gentle smile. "These are things we'll all face sooner or later. It's okay, being alive is a victory."

As if thinking of something, Eddie took out a syringe gun from his backpack. "Do you need a shot? I forgot to tell you, this is a vaccine I recently made. I don't know if it works, but maybe it will. Take a shot before you mutate. If you've already mutated, it won't have any effect."

"Come on, I trust you." Kevin was the first to come over for the shot. They were all teammates fighting together. If Eddie wanted to harm him, he would have died long ago; how could he have lived until now? Because of his intuition, he unconditionally trusted Eddie.

With Kevin taking the lead, Leon was the second to come over for the shot. He also chose to trust this senior from the police department. To successfully return alive from a hellish place like the Arklay Mountains was already a miracle!

The reason Eddie was so kind was entirely because these people had utility value. Only people with value could become friends, right? People with no utility value were not worthy of being friends.

As long as Kevin, Leon, and the others were guaranteed to leave Raccoon City alive, having experienced a living hell, they would definitely be the main force against Umbrella. When someone was dealing with Umbrella, Umbrella wouldn't focus its attention on him. Instead of wasting time playing hide-and-seek with Umbrella, he might as well use the time for research, or perhaps to have children?

Arriving at the edge, it was only two meters from the rooftop of the nearby building. Only a running start was needed to jump across. Looking down from the rooftop, the street was already in chaos.

Large numbers of infected and mutated zombies were walking towards uninfected residents. They were almost everywhere: streets, alleys, and even inside houses. No one knew how many people had mutated. Panic prevented anyone from going back to deal with these zombies, as everyone thought they were cultists, and killing people was illegal!

"These are all Umbrella's doing. We must survive, get out alive, and report Umbrella's crimes." Enrico was incredibly angry. He was an old police officer with a strong sense of justice, and what he hated most was such lawless behavior, completely disregarding morals and human rights.

"At least we need to be alive. For now, let's get to Annadale Street," Kevin said, charging quickly and jumping from the bar rooftop. Leon, Enrico, and the others also quickly charged, took a running start, and jumped across.

When it was Jill's turn, she also took a running start. She could easily jump the two-meter distance. Cindy even overshot the distance when she jumped, her jumping ability surprising even herself.

There were still many zombies on the street. Agents who had set up defenses here began to open fire, but there were too many zombies. They couldn't defend against them all and soon died in the line of duty.
