Chapter 117 - 117

Boom! An explosion sounded, and the hotel was engulfed in flames. It seemed something had exploded, causing a fire here. Countless couples screamed, trying to escape, but were trapped by the blaze. To make matters worse, some guests had mutated into zombies and began attacking the living.

"Go around the outside of the wall; there are small steps you can use. Don't worry, it's fine. The fire inside is too intense; we can't go in." Eddie was the first to jump out a window, where a zombie was feeding. To prevent it from disturbing the beautiful women behind him, Eddie shot it directly.

Everyone followed Eddie, climbing the wall. Occasionally, unlucky people would jump from the high-rise. Although six or seven floors isn't very high, jumping down would still be fatal.

"Eddie, there are still survivors inside; we need to save them!" Jill said, looking at the survivors with a touch of unbearable sadness.

"I know, but we have more important things to do. I've already seen firefighters arriving; I'll remind them to bring guns to deal with those mutated zombies. Also, we don't know if there are any monsters inside that have been infected but haven't mutated yet. We'd best not try." Eddie tried to dissuade her. He wouldn't be kind-hearted; there was no need.

"Alright, you're right." Jill could only suppress her sadness and follow her husband. Now was not the time for kindness.

"I believe what Eddie says; he knows how to analyze things. We aren't suitable for rescue inside right now." Rebecca unexpectedly came to Eddie's defense. She had been quite upset earlier; had she forgotten so quickly?

If nothing unexpected happened, there must be a special mutated monster in this hotel. Eddie had no interest in seeing it. Such things should be left to others with bolder ideas.

Following the outer edge of the wall, they arrived at the front. The alley here was already separated by fences and water towers to prevent zombies from other streets from spreading. They also saw firefighters arriving to put out the fire.

"Hey, guys, I'm Eddie, the police paramedic. If you're going to fight the fire, please bring your sidearms. There are many monsters, and if you're not careful, you might die. Alright, my advice is done. Good luck, goodbye." Eddie waved his hand after speaking. That was all he could do; he was powerless to do more.

Across another street was Annadale Street, which was very deserted, while the adjacent street was ablaze. It was said that many rioters were using zombies for terrorist activities. These were people who had lost faith in life.

Chapter 195: The Destruction of Annadale Street

When Eddie brought Jill and the others to Annadale Street, they were all shocked by the situation. Annadale Street, a two-hundred-meter-long street, was densely packed with zombies as far as the eye could see. It made their scalps tingle. With so many zombies, the number had probably reached five thousand.

"So many of them, my dear, have we encountered a zombie siege?" Jill said, looking at the densely packed zombies ahead. It was the first time she was a little surprised. Even with her enhanced abilities, she probably couldn't defeat so many zombies.

"No, it should be that a zombie mutation outbreak happened here, and then people bit people, and it turned into this. This street has always been a relatively prosperous area. However, a zombie mutation alone shouldn't cause such severe consequences; there must be assistance from those rioters," Eddie said coldly.

"Are those people crazy? Why would they help zombies take over these areas? They are humans!" Cindy was very confused.

"It should be some thugs who have lost faith in life assisting. They wish for chaos to reign. Sometimes, they envy what others have and want to destroy it so that no one has it. This extreme thinking gives rise to extreme actions, just like with you. Others don't have it, but I do, and protecting you requires a lot of effort," Eddie said with a mischievous smile, using an analogy.

"Cut it out, we're just working for you. It's only natural for a boss to protect his employees, isn't it?" Rebecca wasn't buying it. She was just an employee who had signed a long-term contract.

"He's just joking, Rebecca, you didn't take it seriously, did you!" Jill laughed. It was normal for friends to joke around; only a foolish woman would get jealous.

"Of course, I know, so I was just joking too." Rebecca gave a thumbs-up, making the classic 'like' gesture.

"Alright, we need to go and give them some help. You see, those fences can't stop the zombies. Roadblocks are useless against them. At least clearing these zombies will greatly slow down the spread. All these scenes must be filmed; this is Umbrella's evidence." Eddie finished speaking and jumped down directly.

Jumping from six meters high, with a clever transfer of gravity, he felt no discomfort.

On Annadale Street, Kevin and Leon were using shotguns to blast away approaching zombies. More than a dozen police officers were also using heavy firepower to suppress them, tactical submachine guns and shotguns pushing the zombies back, buying time for their demolition team colleagues.

"Hurry up, buddy, we might not be able to hold on much longer," Kevin said, firing his gun, his tone light and teasing.

"I'm trying, damn it, I need some more batteries," a demolition team member said.

"In this chaotic time, where am I supposed to find you batteries?" The guard was a Fat Agent Karu.

Swoosh! A Licker quickly climbed the wall. Any zombies in its way were smashed by its claws.

"What is that? It's a monster, deal with it first!" Leon spotted the Licker immediately and kept firing, but the creature dodged every shot. Its agile movements made it impossible for an ordinary person to hit.

The Licker moved quickly left and right, and after rapidly approaching, it directly swung its sharp claws at the demolition team member's head, seemingly intending to kill him.

At the critical moment, a magnum shot rang out. A lead bullet struck the Licker's head, and the enormous kinetic energy blew its head apart.

Bang! The remaining force knocked an agent flying, but fortunately, he wasn't seriously injured, just a bit sore from the impact.

Eddie walked over, "Guys, don't let your guard down. Quickly get these explosives detonated. This place can't take it anymore. We need reinforcements. I'll suggest to the chief that the Federal Guard intervene. Not only are there these zombies, but there are also some rioters causing destruction. We need to raise the alert level to the highest degree."

"I need five minutes, guys, please, just five minutes, and we can send all these monsters to kingdom come," the demolition team leader said.

"No problem, just five minutes." Jill also walked over, picking up her Samurai Edge and attacking continuously. Every bullet precisely killed a zombie, a headshot, with absolutely no waste.

Everyone worked together, bringing out all their weapons to block the zombies head-on. Fortunately, although the zombies had mutated, their movements weren't particularly fast; they were just a bit quicker than zombies from a certain period, because their bones hadn't yet become porous due to metabolism.

Rebecca and Cindy also took pistols to fight. These weapons had low recoil and were very easy to handle. As members of the team, they had received some guidance from Wolf Mom Ruper. At this time, being a vase was useless; only by picking up weapons and fighting would they not become a burden.

Da da da! The sound of submachine guns rang out, repelling many zombies, but soon, more zombies continued to pour in from behind.

Eddie had no choice but to get into a car and drive the vehicles into the middle of the road to block the zombies' advance. At least, it would take time for the zombies to climb over the vehicles.

"Good idea, I'll also park haphazardly!" Kevin's eyes lit up. He also drove nearby vehicles over, directly using a dagger to remove the dashboard cover near the ignition and hot-wiring them using the old method.

Five or six cars blocked the middle of the road, barely slowing down the zombies' attack.

Fortunately, with the help of Eddie and the others, these dozen or so agents would definitely not have been able to complete this mission. Besides zombies, there were also advanced weapons like Lickers. Ordinary people facing such monsters would be completely wiped out.

"Alright, we're done. We can retreat now; this detonator can be controlled remotely." The demolition team leader called out, holding the detonator and slowly retreating.

As Eddie retreated, he took Jill and the other women, grabbing many magazines. Anyway, leaving them there would be a waste, so it was better to take them along.

Once everyone had retreated to a safe area, Kevin took the detonator and pressed it down firmly.

From the end of Annadale Street, explosions continuously rang out, and large fires erupted on the street. The chain of explosives blew the zombies on the street into the air, and the intense flames provided effective sterilization. The scene was quite spectacular for a time, though the damage to the road was significant.

Chapter 196: Northern Fall, Jessica's Concern

The entire Annadale Street was engulfed in flames, and even some cars were caught in the explosions, burning.

When the flames spread to the vehicles' fuel tanks, under immense internal pressure, the tanks ignited and exploded, causing secondary damage and killing some infected monsters nearby.

"This is Kevin. We have detonated Annadale Street, preventing the spread in the northern area, but the situation is still very difficult. Many civilians are still trapped here, and we need to rescue them," Kevin said into the walkie-talkie.

"Received, received, this is Marvin. Kevin, lead your guys to rest and re-enter the disaster area in an hour to rescue survivors. There are reporters here collecting evidence, many of whom are federal contract reporters, so remember not to be too lax." Marvin was also very busy; as the commander, he needed to handle urban violence cases and deal with reporter questions.

"No problem, Kevin received." Kevin nodded and also instructed his subordinates.

Eddie looked at the still burning street, "It seems you still have a lot to do. I have other matters, so I'll head back first. You'll need a lot of vaccines. I hope these vaccines can help you." He then took out some test tubes and a syringe gun.

"Thanks, Eddie, you're my good friend. If I don't die this time, I'll definitely buy you a drink," Kevin said, unceremoniously taking the test tubes.

"Leon is a good kid, just a bit impulsive, but it's normal for young people to be hot-blooded. With more training, you'll teach a good apprentice," Eddie said with a smile. He didn't want to bury Li Sanguang. He had taken Ada, so as compensation, he would give Leon some benefits.

"You flatter me, senior." Leon scratched his head a little awkwardly. He felt that working in Raccoon City was truly fulfilling!

Enrico and Dury exchanged glances, "We'll stay and help. We have more experience with search and rescue missions. But you'll need to provide us with ammunition; we don't have any money."

"Haha, no problem. With Uncle Enrico here, I believe we can rescue more survivors." Kevin had his subordinates bring over the bullets.

Bidding farewell to Kevin and the others, Eddie returned to the apartment with Jill. A defensive line to prevent invasion had been established around the Umbrella Raccoon City building. Thousands of agents were mobilized to build roadblocks here to prevent rioters from the north from impacting the south, and also to protect Umbrella's property.
