Chapter 123 - 123

Lisa escorted the weak and tired Katherine back to the apartment, also because the helicopter couldn't fit so many people.

Jessica was adamant about not leaving Eddie unless she was in a dormant state, but there wasn't much time to see Jessica sleep, as if she was a woman who didn't need sleep.

"How would I know? Chris is collecting evidence against Umbrella. We can't let his sister get hurt," Jill said, frowning.

"She'll be fine. We'll rescue her, don't worry," Eddie said, looking down at the abandoned northern district, where a large number of zombies and Hunters roamed, no one knew where they came from.

Claire arrived at a gas station, intending to refuel, only to find many cars already parked there, but their doors were open, there were bloodstains on the ground, and items around were very messy, giving the impression of being ransacked.

She entered the convenience store inside the gas station, where the lights were dim, seemingly damaged. "Hello, is anyone here?"

A rustling sound came, and the back door opened. A Raccoon City precinct sheriff walked out with a flashlight and a gun. "Who are you? Stop, don't move, get out first, it's very dangerous here. If you hear me, please turn around and leave, otherwise I will shoot you as a rabid cultist!"

Claire didn't know what was happening, so she could only retreat step by step, raising her hands. "Oh, Officer, I just came to get gas and buy a few things."

The sheriff walked out with his pistol, a little blood on his clothes. "Are you a normal person? How did you get in here? This place has been taken over by those lunatics. Wait, you haven't been bitten by those lunatics, have you?"

Claire shook her head, puzzled. "No, I just arrived at the gas station. I'm here to find my brother. He also works at the police station. His name is Chris, and I'm his sister, Claire. He hasn't contacted me for a long time, and I'm very worried about him, so I came to find him."

The sheriff lowered his pistol and apologized, "Sorry, I was too nervous. Oh, so you're Chris's sister. I'm Cody, the sheriff in charge of this area. Chris's S.T.A.R.S. was disbanded over a month ago. He's still working at the police station, but he hasn't been in a good mood and has been on paid leave for two months."

"What, really! I asked Jill, and she said the same thing. I thought she was lying to me. Do you know where my brother went?" Claire asked, a little worried.

"No, but you can ask his good friend Eddie. He's a big boss, he should know. All right, Claire, right? It's very dangerous here, you can't stay long. You need to leave immediately, while it's still relatively close to an exit route," Cody said with a serious expression.

"Eddie? No, I need to go to the precinct to look. I need to find what my brother left behind. He must have left some information for me. Sheriff, please, I'm really worried about my brother. He raised me since I was little. I can't just watch something happen to him," Claire pleaded.

"Alright, I'll take you back to the precinct, but the roads here are not easy to travel. I'm here to guide survivors. Listen, do you know how to use a pistol? Raccoon City has an outbreak of a cannibalistic disease, which are the lunatics we see. They're like zombies, constantly attacking living people. You need to shoot them dead with one shot!" Cody handed over a pistol.

Just then, there was a commotion nearby, as if some zombies had heard the sound and started moving towards them.

Cody immediately shot and killed the approaching zombie, and Claire was somewhat surprised, because federal police officers are not allowed to shoot civilians directly; they would be taken to court!

"Don't be surprised, that's a cannibalistic disease patient. You can also understand them as zombies, incurable patients. The order we received is to shoot them on sight, otherwise, once bitten, we will also become one of them, attacking our friends and family. For the safety of our families, shooting them is the right thing to do," Cody explained.

Chapter 206: Claire's Surprise

Claire picked up the pistol and fired a shot at one of the zombies; the bullet accurately hit the zombie's head.

"Good shot. Just like that. There are too many zombies. We must retreat into the convenience store and use the environment inside to snipe the enemies," Cody said.

The two retreated into the convenience store and used the shelves to block the door, preventing zombies from entering. A retail hall isn't very large, only about twenty square meters, and once zombies break through, they could easily become trapped.

The zombies grew in number, attracted by the gunshots, which could travel very far in the empty and silent outskirts of the Arklay Mountains. Zombies, being very sensitive to sound, would seek out its source; sound represents living things!

Just as the two felt it was becoming very difficult to withstand the zombie onslaught, and even a window was shattered, a burst of submachine gun fire and the familiar sound of the Samurai Edge pistol came from outside; each shot blew a zombie's head off.

Eddie was about to rush over, but Jessica was already ahead, waving her jade hand and sending a slap that directly sent four or five zombies flying, without even a chance to resist.

"Is anyone inside? I'm Eddie, a medical officer from the Raccoon City precinct!" Eddie shouted through the door to the convenience store.

"Yes, I'm Cody, the sheriff in charge of the Arklay Mountains area!" Cody shouted loudly. He had thought he was going to die, killed in the line of duty, and never expected someone to come and rescue him!

Claire was also startled; she had felt a bit of despair, never expecting someone to actually come and rescue her.

"Stay away from the door," Eddie said, then delivered a flying kick that blew off the heads of the zombies near the door, and then kicked the door open, sending the shelves behind it flying out with the force.

"You're safe now, let's go, don't stay here. Zombies are very sensitive to sound, you'd best leave quickly," Eddie tilted his head, then continued to deal with zombies using his martial arts.

It has to be said, using immense power to crush weak opponents, that feeling is incredibly satisfying, it's addictive! Showing off for a moment is satisfying, showing off all the time is always satisfying!

Arriving outside the gas station convenience store, the two found that most of the zombies seemed to have been eliminated. In the distance, zombies were still wandering over, but at least their numbers weren't as great. And the zombies in this vicinity all had their heads blown off. What kind of skill level is this?

"Take my helicopter to leave, it's too chaotic here. The north is almost entirely an abandoned disaster area, already occupied by cultists," Eddie said to the helicopter still circling in the air.

Cody shook his head, "No, I'll return to the outpost outside the city. There are still some northern residents who escaped and need my help. I'll also make markings here so that fleeing citizens know it's safe there."

"You're truly dedicated to your duty!" Eddie chuckled.

"It's part of the job. You two be careful, the city is no longer peaceful," Cody nodded, turned, and got into his police car to drive away.

After the other party left, Eddie finally took a good look at the red-haired girl with a single ponytail in front of him, exuding the standard youthful vibe of a female college student, with a beautiful face showing a hint of determination and a touch of maternal radiance. "You must be Claire, you're really bold."

"Yes, you're Eddie? Do you know my brother's whereabouts?" Claire asked eagerly. Having just escaped a dangerous situation, she immediately thought of her brother, truly a deep sibling bond.

"He went to Europe with old colleagues to handle some matters. Don't worry, he's doing very well. He probably didn't tell you because he was afraid you'd worry, and I never expected you to actually come. Unfortunately, Raccoon City is very unsafe right now, you'd best return to your university first," Eddie explained.

Claire shook her head, "No, I need to go to my brother's office to look. He must have left some information. I'm sorry, I know this request is rude, but I'm really worried about him."

"You're really persistent. Alright, I'll give you a ride, but you can't keep your motorcycle. I'll get you a new one later, for now, let's go, this isn't a place for idle chat. I'll cover you, you go up first," Eddie said, a little helpless. The legendary Claire really was persistent, as always, just didn't know if she was a boyfriend-killer!

Chris specifically jinxed teammates, Claire specifically jinxed boyfriends.

Bang bang bang! Eddie continuously fired, killing several approaching zombies. "Jessica, you go up first."

"No, you go first," Jessica shook her head.

"Listen to me! Otherwise, I won't take you out next time. As a woman, you must listen to the man of the house," Eddie said fiercely. He had to establish his authority, otherwise if everyone was like Ada and Svetlana, how would things be harmonious in the future.

Jessica stared at Eddie for a moment, then nodded and said, "I understand, I'll listen." After speaking, she quickly climbed up the ladder.

Eddie also put away his Samurai Edge and climbed onto the helicopter in a few quick steps.

The helicopter returned to Raccoon City from the outskirts, passing through the northern area, which had become a fire scene. Even in places not on fire, the power system had problems.

Claire looked at the northern buildings below, her beautiful eyes filled with shock. "What on earth caused this to happen? This is too terrifying."

"It's a long story, and we're also collecting evidence. Your brother's situation is also related to these things; he wants to find criminal evidence and reveal the truth to the public. This is a very long process, the forces are too powerful, and an individual cannot contend with them," Eddie said without elaborating.

Jill rolled her eyes at the man; what was the point of speaking so mysteriously? "Claire, don't worry, we'll return to the police station, but we need to rest first."

The helicopter quickly arrived at the apartment building rooftop, parking directly on the apartment's helipad, making it very convenient for direct evacuation. Anyway, the landlord had already fled in fear, so parking here didn't matter.

Back in the apartment, Katherine and Lisa had already prepared dinner. Mashed potatoes and burgers, Eddie's favorite crispy burgers and orange juice!

Claire was a little surprised because she found that every woman here ate an incredible amount, at least ten pounds? Wouldn't that make them stuffed? It made her, a female college student who could fly planes and shoot zombies, very puzzled.

Chapter 207: Raccoon City's Biohazard

Claire shook her head, "No, it's delicious, I eat less."

"That's good, you need to be full to have the energy to do things. Darling, please take Claire to the precinct later, finish early and come back early," Jill instructed. As a wife, she had the right to ask her husband to do something.

"Alright, I will. I'll take Jessica and Svetlana. Lisa, will you stay here to help take care of them?" Eddie said with a smile.
